CHELSEA:
I plopped down on the big comfortable bed. "What the hell was that?" I thought. "MATE" my wolf screamed. How did I run miles and miles to this small town and the 3rd person I meet here is my mate. When we imprinted the connection was so strong. I could still feel him. I could feel his confusion and his wolf's hurting. I felt bad for walking as away, but I didn't know him. What if he was just like the men in my pack? I was not going to be controlled by any man any longer, nor was I going to be touched without my permission. "He's not Xavier." My wolf whimpered. Maybe not, but I was not gonna just jump into his arms. I was not going to trust him easily, and we came here to start over, it's time to focus on us, and not worry about a man.
The next day I woke up and it was like so much pressure had been lifted from my shoulders. I didn't have to be scared now, and that changed so much. I could finally be who I really was, and not someone else's idea of what I should be. Today I planned to hopefully find a job and maybe a place to rent if I was lucky. I needed a place to make mine. I needed a place to call home. Something that I had never really had. I had no idea why I had decided to stay here, but my wolf refused to leave anyway. After imprinting with that man she was hell bent on meeting her mate, but I wasn't so eager, and I was the one in control not her. I would stay, but not for him, I would stay for me.
I threw my clothes off and jumped in the shower. It had been so long since I had got to take a bath that hadn't co existed of a river nor stream, that I reveled in the feel of the warm water cascading over my body. My hand went to my stomach and my heart ached. My wolf whimpered. We have to move on, never forgetting but living for the baby I never got to hold, or kiss. I knew she would always be with me. I took a deep breath trying to reign in my emotions. I knew he could feel them because I could feel his. He was worried. Why was he worrying about me, he didn't even know me.
I climbed out of the shower and quickly dried off. Dried my hair applied my mascara and lip gloss and rummaged through my backpack for something to wear. I would definitely have to go shopping. I threw on a pair of jean shorts and my white Hollister tank and slipped on my flip flops. After one last glance in the mirror I left the room and made my way downstairs.
Betty was sitting in the sun room rocking in her rocking chair drinking a cup of tea. She looked so peaceful and happy. "Hey Betty! Morning" I greeted her. "Good morning! I was wondering when you would be down. You must have slept for 2 days." She smiled. "What?" I gasped. "I just got here yesterday." I reminded her. "Oh no dear, you got here day before yesterday, you slept right through yesterday. " she informed me. "I sat down in the rocker next to her. "Wow I must have been really tired." I told Betty still.dumbstruck that I had slept over 24 hours. "Well what do you have planned for today Lily!" She asked. Lily was the name I had given Betty when I had checked in. I didn't want to give my real name in fear of Xavier or some of the others from the pack finding me. Lily was what my mother called me when I was little. She always told.me I was as pretty as a Lily which was her favorite flower. "I have actually decided to stay for a while." I explained. " I plan to try and find a place to rent, and hopefully a job today." "Well now I believe I can help with a place to rent." She said setting down her teacup and saucer. "Oh thanks Betty but I was thinking something a little more spacious." I giggled. " Not here silly girl." She waved me off. "I have a small cottage not far from here, but it's off the beaten path so to speak. Needs a little TLC but it my first place with my Alex." She said sadly. "Its beautiful, I think you would love it, bring a little life to the place. " she smiled at me. "Oh Betty I would love to see it." I smiled back. The place would be perfect if it was livable, seeing as it was what sounded to be like out in the middle of nowhere. "Of course Of course. Let me grab my walking shoes and we'll head that way." She said as she disappeared through the door.
I followed Betty off her porch and around to the back of her house. Her property was huge. We made our way across the big field that led to the tree line. "Oh I love to be out walking on days like this." Betty was looking up at the sky. It was a beautiful day. It wasn't too hot and the wind blowed around the smell of the fresh cut lawns My favorite smell. "Me to Betty." I agreed as I took a deep breath. I couldn't remember the last time I had just stopped to smell the Rose's, and not have to worry about the time so I made it home before Xavier to get my work done he had ordered me to do for the day. "I sense a lot of sadness in those eyes my dear." Betty Interrupted my thoughts. "Your senses would be spot on Betty." I surprisingly admired. "Why did I just say that?" I thought. "Because you know you can trust her." My wolf chimed in. She was right. I hadn't felt this way about anyone aside from my mother. My mom use to joke that I had spidey senses. She said I could always sense when someone had a good soul or bad one. "Well when your ready to talk I'm here." Betty told me. "Thanks Betty that means a lot." I smiled at her.
Once we reach the tree line Betty led me to a walking path. I could tell that this was probably Betty's regular running spot, when she turned wolf. I had known Betty was a wolf when I had walked upon her porch, but it was as if something told me it would be okay if she knew. We walked for a good ten minutes until we came to a small clearing in the woods. I gasped at the site before me. It was a field of wild flowers and right in the middle sat a beautiful little cabin with a green roof and green door. There was a gravel path that led up to the cabin. "Oh Betty it is beautiful. " I cried. "Yes, yes it is." She whispered. "I haven't been out here in many years. Cole has been keeping the place up to date for me, and his mama cleans it for.me once a month." Betty informed me. "Its not the same without my Alex." She frowned sadly. "I understand completely Betty." I told her as we walked through the front door. The inside was even more beautiful. We walked through the door into a large open area that consisted of the kitchen. And living area. The hard wood floors still looked brand new. The living room consisted of a working fire place, a bay window on the wall next to the front door, framed by beautiful sheer yellow curtains, and a pale yellow couch and love seat sat around a flowered rug with a tv in the corner. The kitchen had lots of cabinet space, and a huge deep sink which I loved. There was a small eating table that sat in the corner, and it was equipped with a stainless steel refrigerator and stove. The sheer curtains over all the windows let in the sun from the outside and brightened up the place beautifully. "Right through here is the bathroom." Betty ushered me to follower her to the door beside the stairs case. I walked through the wooden door into a huge bathroom. "Alex loved to spoil me." Betty smiled clearly remembering times with her late husband. "He said Bee you deserve a bathroom to pamper yourself in." Betty smiled telling her story. "He must have truly love you." I told her. "Oh yes dear our love was and is a once in a lifetime kind of love." She told me. I looked around at the bathroom. Their was a big claw foot tub in front of floor to ceiling windows with sheer white curtains. "No need for privacy way put here." Betty laughed and I did to. There was s beautiful white antique vanity with a matching cushioned stool in front of it. There was a pedestal sink that had a white medicine cabinet above it. "Behind the door here is the door to the linen closet. It's very spacious as well, and the next door over is the washroom that contains some storage shelving and washing and dryer. I believe their is an iron and ironing board there as well." Betty pointed as we began our journey up the beautifully hand crafted stairs. "My Alex built this place with his own two hands. Every board and every nail." She whispered as I followed her up the stairs admiring the vaulted ceilings that where already visible. "There is two bedrooms and a half bath up here." Betty explained. "This is the master bedroom." She smiled as we entered the room. Again all the floors where natural hard wood floors. A huge bed sat in the middle of the room. It looked so inviting and comfortable and matched the rest of the decor in the house with its pale yellow color and flowered accent pillows. There was another vanity but this one was a natural wood color and was beautiful with a matching stool in front of it. The room also contained a wall in closet that was amazing and beautifully hand crafted. "Here is the half bath." Betty opened the door. It wasn't a half bath at all, their was a claw foot bathtub a pedestal sink another vanity like the one downstairs and a toilet. Everything was just smaller than the downstairs versions. "Well this is the best half bath I've ever seen." I admitted making Betty laugh. The guest room next door was equally as beautiful. It contained a beautiful white full bed with a white comforter set. A big bay window and a small closet. After finishing the house tour Betty and I made our way back down stairs. "Well what do you think?" Betty its beautiful, and I am in love with it, I just don't know if I can afford it." I admitted knowing that a place this beautiful would be over 1000 dollars a month. "Nonsense." She waved. "My family is busy, and it's an inconvenience for them to co.e out here and tend to the flower garden, pond, and clean the house. If you'll keep this place in shape for me I'll let you stay here for free." Betty smiled. I gasped, "Betty I couldn't that would be taking advantage. " I told her. "At least let me pay a little something." I pleaded. "If it makes you fell better give me $200 a month plus labor., even though it doesn't feel right to take it." "Oh thanks Betty, so much. " tears flowed down my eyes as I embraced Betty. "No problem at all dear. Now you make yourself at home, and come get your stuff when your ready." She giggled. "Oh I have to go shopping I don't have much clothing, and I'll need to grab some groceries." I quickly remembered. "Well then you beat get going to town." Betty told me as she handed me a skeleton key. "This here unlocks every door to this house, even the hidden attic stairs." She told me looking directly into my eyes. It was as if she was in on my secret that I had run away and should I ever need that hidden room it was there, but that was impossible. I dismissed the thought closed the door behind me, locked it and made my way to town following Betty out of the woods.
