Chapter 8 - TANAC

Vincent's POV

I don't know what happened or kung ano man and pinaguusapan nilang dalawa, basta ang alam ko lang is I was pissed at Jules and Walter.

"Pare, why are you being like this?" Tanong ni Walter "Dude, are you seriously jealous?" Dugtong pa niya na ikina-irap ko lang.

"Then what are you guys talking about? Bakit may pa-hampas pa ng braso effect?" Sagot ko na patanong kay Walter. Napailing na lang siya at natatawang tinapik ang right shoulder ko.

"Man, wala kaming ibang ginagawa kung hindi ang magkuwentuhan lang. Hindi naman ako interesado sa jowa mo no!" Natatawa pa ding sabi ni Walter.

I was still not convinced pero he just brushed me off. "I'll head out na. I'll see you both later sa hall." Sabi ni Walter nang nakatingin sa phone niya.

"Sige, layas." Sabi ko closing the door in our hotel room.

Nagpunta na ako sa walk in closet nitong room namin at nagsimula nang magbihis. Maingat naman na naka-latag ang suit na isusuot namin. I was just about to tie my necktie when Jules came out of the bathroom and saw me.

"Ang lakas ng loob magtali ng tie, eh hindi pa naman kaya." Panga-asar niya. Napa-iling na lang ako and let him tie the damn tie. But I still couldn't help but check him out. Ang cute naman niya kapag naka-bathrobe!

After tying my tie, I told him that I'll wait for him sa living room ng hotel room namin. Tumango lang siya and gave me a smile and a thumbs up.

"Finished!" Parang bata na sabi ni Jules at natawa na lang ako.

"Anong tinatawa-tawa mo diyan?" Tanong ni Jules sa akin. I shook my head.

"Nothing, let's go?" Sabi ko while giving him my right good arm. We left the room and made our way to the elevators.

"Soooo...." Panimula ni Jules. I raised a delicate brow. "So?" I asked.

"Sooo, what's this award that you won?" Curious na tanong niya. I tried to brush the topic off kaya lang ay hindi naman niya ako hinayaan. I just sighed.

"It's nothing, hindi naman importante." Sabi ko. It was Jules' turn to raise a brow at me. "Anong hindi importante?"

"Okay ka lang? Malaking achievement kaya pag nagka-award! That means your efforts paid off." Sabi niya.

"No, I mean, I don't really care to be honest. Gusto lang ni Walter na makipag-socialize ako sa mga kapwa authors ko." Biglang nanlaki ang mga mata ni Jules na ipinagtaka ko na man.

"You mean there would be a lot of authors like you? Halimbawa, si Francis Ibarra andito din?" Tanong ni Jules in which I nodded my answer. He suddenly let out a deep breath at parang nagpa-panic siya na ewan.

"Hey, Hey, Jules look at me." I commanded. Ini-harap ko siya sa akin to check on him.

Sumunod naman siya sa utos ko kaya't we looked at each other.

"Are you okay? What is it about?" Tanong ko. He took a deep breath before he answered.

"Nagpa-fanboy lang ako, Sorry." Sabi ni Jules. I chuckled. Can he get anymore adorable?

"It's okay, You just had me worried a little is all." Sabi ko.

"Pero seryoso a-attend dito si Francis Ibarra?" Tanong niya ulit. "Yes." Sagot ko. That had him smiling widely again.

"Yes! Finally mami-meet ko din siyaaaaa OMG excited na ako!" Sabi ni Jules.

A few minutes later, we are exiting the elevator and entering the grand hall.

We stopped for a little bit when we were about the enter the venue. I pulled out our invitation inside the pocket of my jacket and handed it to the receptionist.

When I looked at Jules, naka-awang ng kaunti ang bibig niya. I followed his gaze and chuckled cuz he was looking at Francis and the other authors plus the editors who attended this awards night. I sighed and tugged at my tie slightly which caught Jules' attention.

"Huy, bakit mo naman ini-tug iyang tie mo?" Jules slightly scolded me, fixing my tie for me again. I just let him and watched.

"Because this is going to be a really long night and I can already feel it," I answered looking at the tie again. I had this urge to tug them loose but because of the look Jules is giving me, I restrained myself.

"Paano mo naman nasabi iyon, eh hindi pa nga nagsisimula ang event?" Tanong ni Jules.

"Basta, I can tell." Sagot ko naman.

The receptionist nodded and handed my invitations back to me and iginiya niya kami to enter the venue. When a waiter approached, I immediately took two flutes containing rose champagne. We were silent for a while, testing the waters, trying to act like we were not nervous but also sipping the champagne slowly and a bit at a time.

"Vince, nagugutom na ako. Wala man lang bang table diyan? I mean ang hirap naman pala dito sa party ng mga mayayaman, nakakagutom. Nag-party pa!" Reklamo ni Jules. Making me took a huge gulp of the champagne that I almost spit out. Buti na lang ay napigilan ko ang sarili ko. Parang bata naman kasi. Ang cute cute pa!

May mga ilang minuto din ang itinagal naming naka-tayo lang sa isang sulok nang may namataan akong ilang mga lalaking papalapit sa amin.

"Jules, may nakita akong chocolate fountain doon. Want to try some?" I ask, pointing to the buffet table with little foods and a chocolate fountain in the middle. I saw how his eyes suddenly shone and they zeroed in on the chocolate fountain.

He took my hand and immediately pulled me towards them. Pasimple akong tumingin sa mga lalaking lalapit sana sa amin. I smirked because they seemed pretty disappointed especially when they noticed Jules pulling me towards the buffet table. "May pagkain naman pala, eh bakit hindi mo agad sinabi. Napintasan ko tuloy itong party ng mga mayayaman!" Natawa ako sa litanya niya.

Maybe you were wondering why I avoided the men coming towards us? It's because they are just going to talk about business and I don't want to talk about the business yet. It happens everytime and I usually come up with excuses. Another reason why I didn't want to attend these social gatherings ever again.
