I pushed open the front door and stepped into the lecture hall. As usual, people were already seated. Crowded. Beauty met my gaze and waved at me. I walked to where she was sitting and seated next to her. "You are late." She said. "Are you alright?" "I'm fine, I just woke up late, that's all." After visiting Theo's building yesterday or would I call it 'The hunter's building'? I realized that they were not ordinary people too and they were just trying to use me to get rid of all those demons. Here I thought I came to California for peace of mind. Now four years here will be like hell. I couldn't get that out of my mind. "Did you?" I heard a boy say behind my back. His voice rang in my ears. The sound was familiar. I didn't want to look back but I was also curious to see his face. That couldn't have been Chase Parker but he sounded like him too or was it all in my mind? I couldn't help but look back. I turned my head a little to see who it was, at first I checked the girl that was seated. A blondie? She was. Her face looked young and she wore a black turtleneck long sleeve top. Her hair parted by the side and backed behind. The butterfly hair clip she used seemed expensive and not fake. "Yeah, Babe. I kept the seat for you." She said as she smiled at him. He kissed her on her lips as he took his seat and that's when our eyes met. He was beautiful. Still beautiful. The butterflies in my tummy tightened. Chase? It was Chase. Theo said he was alive and Theo couldn't have lied. We stared at each other for a while until the girl taped him. "Daniel, lecturer." She said to call his attention back. Daniel? That's what he's called now? Not Chase? So many questions ran through my mind. How was he alive? He doesn't even recognize me. Lydia wouldn't have done something because we all watched him die that night. She couldn't bring him back to life or could she? He looked at me again as I continued to stare. "Miss? Are you okay?" He asked. The voice speaking over and over in my head. Finally, I was back to reality as I shook my head. "I'm fine." I exhaled and looked at the board in front of the class. "Are you sure you are fine because you are sweating?" Beauty whispered. "Where is Ava?" I asked, searching the room for her. I looked back at beauty. "Oh, she said she is going to be late today so she submitted a report stating she was sick." "Okay, okay. Good morning class." The lecturer interrupted. Everyone became silent as he shared a paper around the class. "We will be visiting the different theatre on Friday so we should get ready." He said but all that was in my head was Chase. What really happened because as the Queen of Shadow World, I had no idea. Chase is now Daniel? How? He couldn't even remember me anymore. I was so confused that my head almost exploded. "So Class, we will be talking about Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Hope you all saw the text on the group chat and brought your play text?" The lecturer asked. He adjusted his glasses and stared at his book. "Not all of us." Someone shouted from the back of the class. "What do you mean?" He asked the student who talked. Beauty stood up. "Class rep." The lecturer said to Beauty. "Not everyone number is in the group. I couldn't gather it because we just started the session." Beauty said. "Okay, for now, go and share with anyone who brought theirs because there will be a text and assignment and also presentations of the play on the theatre stage. I don't know when yet but before the end of this month." People started to groan. "Now, open your play text. Act 1." He said as he started to read. Acting hamlet on the stage wouldn't be bad but what about my stage fright? How do I get rid of that? And speaking of Chase... I mean Daniel and the girl next to him. Who the F was that? She even called him babe earlier. Why was she with my Chase? Why did she kiss him? "Do you have anything to share with the class?" The lecturer pointed and I looked up. "You mean me?" I asked for confirmation. And he nodded. "Yes. You were not in my class, your mind wasn't here." He said. "Sir. I... error." I didn't know what to say anymore. My mind was completely blank. "It's Dr. Edward." He interrupted the rubbish I was about to say. "I will like to see you take the role of Ophelia in the presentation." He said. I widen my eyes. That was something I didn't want to happen. I didn't want him to choose me. How would I get rid of my stage fright now? Everyone started to clap. I was in shock as I swallowed hard. "Aren't we meant to audition or something?" I asked. I was trying to avoid the roll but he didn't give in. "No, it is a class presentation which means everyone must participate. Well, I already picked you to play the role of Ophelia." He walked towards me. "Do not disappoint me. And listen!" Now he was speaking to the entire class. "Parents will be present and judges will grade you all. So practice hard." He walked back to the board as he continued to read. I exhaled. "I got something for you." Beauty whispered as she brought out a book. "I have been researching and I found this in my grandmother's room." She handed over a cloth and I tried to unwrap it. She touched my hand to stop me from unwrapping it. "Not here." She said as I placed m the cloth in my bag. I was careful with it. After a few hours, the lecturer finally left the classroom and also gave us a group assignment. Beauty and I were already in the same group and also we added Ava. Three of us made a good team tho. I stood up and before I knew it, Chase wasn't there anymore. I could still smell him but he wasn't there anymore. The blondie flipped her long hair as she walked toward me. "Do not even try flirting with my boyfriend. I could see your eyes on him." She wasn't looking nice nor does she look like the sharing type. I shrugged and tried to look innocent. "I'm not flirting with him, he just looks like someone I knew back in NYC." "He isn't from NYC so...shoo." She said, making a shooing motion as if she was chasing a bird away from her side. She rolled her eyes and walked away. "She doesn't look nice," Ava said as we looked at her. "When did you get here?" I asked and focused on her. "Just now." She said smiling. Her story about being sick wasn't aligning with what I was seeing on her face. "Did you lie about being sick Ava? Because Owen wasn't in class either." I asked as I licked the front of my teeth. "Errrr... I wasn't lying. I had something to do but now that I am here, please tell me what happened today and what's with her accusing you of flirting with her boyfriend? She doesn't like sharing. So obvious." Ava said as she wrapped her arms around me. I didn't know what to tell her. I already told her about Chase but she doesn't believe me. She thought it was all in my head. "I wasn't flirting with her boyfriend." Now I can't get the fact that Chase has a girlfriend out of my head. She was hot and pretty. No wonder he was so in love with her. "Let's go guys. We've got work to do." I said faking a smile. I didn't want them to see the pain o was feeling.
