Chapter 8

The living room was ajar as I and Beauty stepped inside. Beauty thought opening the wrapped clothes in public won't be the best thing so we went to her house to do more research about Vampires. I couldn't tell her I was one. Not a Vampire but Dhampir. Ava didn't believe in this stuff so she didn't follow us to Beauty's place. I stepped into a brown carpeted hallway as I watched her enter a room. Immediately she locked the door behind her. I dropped my bag. Stared at her room which was pained in a dark brown color. Warm and also almost dark for a lady to stay in. My room in NYC or dorm had more light than the one Beauty stayed in. I brought out the unwrapped cloth and placed it on the bed. "So no one's around?" I asked. Trying to get more information from her. Her house seemed weird in a way but it might be my mind. "No, my dad is the dean, remember? and my mom is out of town for business. She is a doctor." Beauty said. "Then why is your door open if no one is home?" I asked her, trying to make her open up. She walked to the seat next to me. "Grandma is inside her room, she feels if she locks the door, she will be trapped. You know how old people are." "Oh," I said as I started to unwrap the cloth. "Fangs?" I gasped and questioned in shock. "Yh, I was shocked too. How would my grandmother own a fang in her room? She is an old woman and this proves that Vampires are real." Beauty said. "I beloved what you said to me. They existed and these fangs are proven." She added staring at the fangs in my hand. "Yh, but can we just stop researching these things? I feel like they will be very dangerous if we get to the bottom of this." I said to her. She was a smart type. She might get to know what I am if she researches so far. "I love adventure Inez so why don't we continue?" She said as she tapped my shoulder. I picked one of the fangs. They looked fresh. How could an old woman kill a vampire and even rip the teeth off? Unless she was not ordinary. I wrapped the cloth and handed it over to Beauty. "If we need answers, we will need to go into your grandma's room and search for things," I said to her. I was curious to know more about that woman. Who was she? It bothers me just thinking about that. "No way, she is super sensitive." She said as she put the wrapped cloth inside a cupboard and locked it with a key. The aura I started to feel hit differently. Powerful, as if someone was blocking me from getting it. I couldn't stay in control. I started to feel dizzy but I refused to sleep. Sleeping at this time and in this place could be dangerous. "Can we go now? We've got an assignment to do." I reminded as I stood on my feet. "Sure." Beauty said as she walked me out of the house. Did you know the saying about Vampire not being able to enter a secured house if not properly invited in but me? I am not a Vampire and I feel these things. I felt power when I felt those fangs and something started to feel off. Something terrible. Something wasn't right. "Are you okay?" Beauty asked as we walked to the backyard. "I need water," I said as she ran into the room to get it immediately. I watched her left as I tried to go into the house to find some answers but I couldn't enter. I was right. Some powerful source was being used here. I couldn't enter the house. It was more like a barrier. Not anybody could enter the house. I could sense her walking back outside as I walked back to the spot where she left me earlier. "Thank you." I said as she handed the water over to me." No wonder I couldn't feel her aura the first time I met her. She was blocking it all along. She is not fully human. But what is she? Those questions were in my mind. I couldn't solve it. Suddenly rain starts to fall as we took shelter under the tree. "Are you sure you don't want to go inside?" She asked. Going inside would be dangerous now that I knew she was keeping something from me. Of course, I wanted to find answers about her but she could be very dangerous. "No, I will be just fine here," I said as I observed her quietly. "You are shaking Inez and you are turning white and pale, you need a warm place to stay till the rain stop. Don't worry I will make hot cocoa for you." She said. She started to walk towards the house as I poured the water from the cup she handed to me earlier away. She could have to spit it. Mama said I shouldn't trust anybody. Everybody is dangerous even me myself. I followed her in and walked to her bedroom. She left to go prepare hot cocoa as I started to search her room for answers. As I said, nothing felt right. The locked cupboard needed to be open. The key was nowhere to be found so I had to use my powers even though I said I wasn't going to use them. It was necessary to use it at that moment. Finally, I unlocked the cupboard and saw a shining pendant. "You've got to be kidding me," I said slowly. I saw what was in there and I wasn't expecting to see that. I dropped the pendant mistakenly. The noise it made could have attracted Beauty's attention as I closed the cupboard immediately and landed on the bed. "Are you okay?" Beauty walked in. "I heard a noise, are you alright?." She asked. "Yh... Yh... I kind of... fell to the ground." I wasn't sure if she was buying that but before she left for the kitchen, I already found my way out of her house. *** The abandoned building at the university wasn't someplace anyone could suspect. Olivia walked into the building with a mask to cover up her face after checking if anyone could see her enter. The crowds took her by surprise. She didn't think witches will be this many. The man walked up to her as he got everyone's attention after using a spoon to hit the cup he was holding. "She is Olivia, our new member." He said as he removed his mask. "Not yet Tommy. She isn't part of us until the crabs accept her." "Yh, the ritual," Tommy said as he removed her mask. "Hope no one saw you enter?" He asked. "No. I'm sure of it." Olivia said. Tommy took Olivia to the table as she lay on it. Chains around her hands and her legs as they blindfolded her. They started chanting as they use a knife to draw blood from her hand. They fed it to the crabs and the crab started to burn. Everyone gasps. "She is more powerful than I thought," Tommy whispered to the head of the council. She smirked. "Untie her." Olivia was finally lost. Tommy chanted a spell to heal her wounds. "Now she is accepted." The head of Council said as everyone started to cheer. "Don't put your mind on Ese, she was just trying to do her job," Tommy said as he handed Olivia a glass of wine. "You are going to bring us a new beginning." He started to laugh as he placed one of his hands on Olivia's shoulder.
