MAX'S POV
I sighed as I walked into the house. I had finally gotten to my younger sister's house after being stuck in traffic for more than an hour.
Even though the house wasn't big, it was small either and I was quite comfortable with it.
"Emily I'm home." I smiled as I announced walking into the house.
"Then come in, don't expect me to come welcome you." A cold voice came from the living room and I couldn't help but smile bitterly.
Walking into the sitting rooms, I saw Emily sitting on the couch watching TV. Seeing Emily, a sense of guilt washed over me and I had the impulse of rushing over to hug her tight but then I knew I couldn't.
Emily had changed a lot since the time I had seen her last. Even though I was only seeing a side, I was sure she must have changed a lot. Also, she must have suffered a lot without me by her side.
"You can choose any room you want but not the first on your right, that mine." Emily's cold voice came as she didn't even turn around to look at me.
I smiled bitterly but didn't say anything and walked directly to one of the rooms. I could feel Emily's gaze on me immediately I turned around, but then I didn't turn back to look at her so she'll not feel awkward.
Getting into the room, I slumped on the bed. I was quite shocked that the room was clean. I knew Emily must have cleaned it before I arrived. But then I was proved wrong as I went to check the other empty rooms only to find it was neat.
It seems like she did clean each of the rooms which left me quite devastated. She still hated me to the core. Well, then I was going to work hard to make her change that impression of me.
Slumping back on the bed. My mind couldn't help but drift back to what happened at the airport. I just couldn't understand why the woman would treat me that way.
I wasn't trying to do anything, I was only being sincere but yet she blamed me. Well, then it seems like I was being unlucky.
Since that was the case, I was just going to forget about it. I had an appointment with the doctor the next day. So I was going to have to wake up early. I was already tired because I was stuck in traffic for about an hour.
Before I knew it, I had dozed off into the wonderlands. I hope I wasn't going to have that dream tonight or else it wasn't going to be good.
----
(The next morning)
"Mmmmm."
I muttered as my eyes fluttered open as the ray of the sun entered my eyes.
Using a hand to cover my eyes, I pulled the curtains and stood up to wash up.
Minutes later I was done and walked out of the room to the living room. Getting there, the aroma of food wafted into my nose and my stomach grumbled loudly.
It was then I remembered that I hadn't eaten since the day before.
"Good morning Emily." I smiled walking over to Emily who was eating breakfast.
"I didn't prepare any food for you so don't think about having any of what's on the table." Emily's cold voice came as she ignored me.
I smiled bitterly but didn't say anything. Emily was just too cold, well it wasn't her fault. For the past seven years, I hadn't even looked for her once to resolve the misunderstanding nor had I called to ask about her wellbeing.
Well, either way, I was going to grab something on the way so I wasn't bothered about it.
"I'll be heading out." I smiled and walked out of the house.
In no time I was at the hospital. Even though I had stopped at the restaurant to grab a meal, I had arrived at the hospital in less than an hour and still had over thirty minutes left for the appointment with the doctor.
Well, that wasn't the problem, I was going to wait. Walking into the hospital I walked up to the receptionist who confirmed my appointment and then sent me to the waiting room.
In a flash, it was thirty minutes already, and soon the people who were with me in the waiting room were going in to see the doctor while I waited for my turn.
Soon, it was my turn. Walking into the consulting room, the doctor was a bald man who looked rather chubby.
"Mr. Edward." The doctor smiles immediately he sees while stretching his hands for a handshake.
I smiled and shook his hands before taking my seat.
"These are the test results." I smiled while handing over some papers.
"I'll be prescribing some drugs for you and I'm sure that you'll be fine in no time." The doctor smiled after some time.
After a while, he gave me a prescription paper. I smiled and walked out of the consulting room with a smile on my face.
I didn't expect it to be this fast. Even though the doctor had told me to come back after some days, I was still surprised as to why it was this short. Well, then I couldn't overthink it.
He was the doctor and I was the patient, there was no way I was going to be teaching him his job. He knew what he was supposed to do so it wasn't much of a problem.
The next thing I had now was to find a way to improve my relationship with my younger sister. We couldn't continue that way.
I frowned as I sank into the sea of my thoughts. But then no matter how much I thought I just couldn't come up with any idea.
"Ouch!" A yelp of pain resounded in my ears bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Young man, watch where you're going, you're at the hospital." A cold feminine voice sounded.
"Huh!" I muttered as I froze for a second. I seemed to have heard this voice somewhere.
Yeah, it was the lady I had met at the airport who claimed I was trying to pick her up.
"I...."
"You!" The woman interrupted me as she gritted her teeth while she stared at me with flames coming out of her eyes.
What the hell was happening? It seems like fate wanted us to meet once again. Well, then I couldn't blame it. Fate had always worked in mysterious ways that nobody could explain so no one had the right to say anything about it.
"You've been stalking me right?" The woman's harsh voice brought me out of my thoughts.
"Huh!" I froze hearing her words. What the hell was this accusation? This meeting was purely accidental and yet she was accusing me of stalking her. How absurd?
"Excuse me woman, but I'm not stalking you, I came to the hospital to have a check-up and happened to run into you." I frowned as I explained calmly.
"No, I won't buy that, you've been stalking or else there's no way you would have bumped into me today again?" She sneered.
"Woman, hear me out, I didn't stalk you, I came for a checkup." I sighed exasperatedly as I tried to explain.
"I'm not a woman, I have a name." The woman sneered.
At this moment, I was confused, what the hell was this? This woman was blindly accusing me and she wouldn't want to hear anything.
"Woman, hear me out..."
"My name is Fiona, not woman." She sneered, interrupting me.
"Fine, Lady Fiona, I wasn't stalking you." I sighed.
"I won't buy that, I'll call the police so they'll take care of you, I'm sure you're a nuisance." Fiona sneered as she brought out her phone.
"Hear me out, woman." I sighed, feeling frustrated. What the hell did she think she was doing? Calling the police on me for something I didn't do.
But then the woman didn't listen to me. She had already called the police and told them someone was stalking her.
"They'll be here to take you away soon, I hope you'll learn your lesson when you sleep in jail for about a week." Fiona sneered.
"But I didn't do anything.." I sighed, feeling frustrated.
"Humph." She snorted, not looking at me.
In no time the police rushed in and surrounded me.
"Trust me, officers, I didn't do anything." I sighed trying to explain to the officers, but they weren't going to listen to me.
The commotion had caught the attention of many people at the hospital, but I could care less about it. I tried to explain to the officers that I was innocent, but then they weren't going to listen to me.
Soon, I was dragged into the car and taken away.
