Chapter 10I’d only been back at the apartment for a few minutes when the doorbell rang. Alarm shot through me and I quickly glanced at the clock hanging above the fridge. It was nowhere near eight yet. “Kate? Are you expecting someone?” I yelled through the apartment even though I was sure she wouldn’t hear me. The muffled sound of music came from her room announcing that she was already getting ready for her date three hours early. I rolled my eyes at that woman’s constant need to preen and headed for the door.
