Well, now you know the levels of hell at which my life had slowly plunged. Mind you, at the same time humans were becoming more violent and evil. They started wars and created better ways to kill others. They got so good at it that it once made me giddy. The wars and death that started with this new movement caused so much death, that even supernaturals began to hide.
When the black death hit, I noticed a rise in vampires. The influx began to get out of hand. I found random people dying because the sun was killing them. That told me they were Alec's offspring. One's that had survived his demise. I needed to walk the streets at night to find who it was. This amount of death would soon expose us. As violent and greedy as humans became it was likely that they found us and we all would be hunted.
I spent night after night, roaming the body-filled streets. The stench of decay and flies at times was unbearable. The rats the size of small dogs ran the streets. Nothing about this was good, or healthy. Whole families are buried because of the disease. In my wandering I saw, children parentless and parents childless. I managed to get some together others I missed. The ones I saved I held in my heart.
I picked up the scent of wolves and vampires. Following the scent, I found wolves surrounding two newly made vampires. I watched as they readied to attack. An older vampire leaped at the wolves as if he was waiting for them to attack. He slaughtered them all. Licking his fingers he sauntered up to the two newly made vampires.
"See you must stay with me, if not you will die." The older Vampire's words are sinister and smooth.
"Wow, I am glad you didn't sire me." I laughed mockingly.
He spins, launching at me with a hiss. I knocked him into the building. Bouncing back at me, I chuckled, "You seriously, are outmatched. Stop unless you want to die." I appeared behind him, my hand wrapped around his throat baring his neck to my fangs. "Are you the naughty one making vampires and leaving them to die?" I growled into his ear.
I felt his Adam's apple swallow. I knew I was right. "No," he whimpered. "I wanted someone with me. I made these two hoping that one would survive the change." He squealed like a pig waiting to be slaughtered.
"How long ago did he make you?" I looked at the newbies.
"A day maybe two?" The younger girl's shaky reply.
"Hmm, have you seen others like him and me?" I watched them both closely.
"Just him, he said would protect us as long as he could sleep with us." Both girls shivered.
I squeezed his throat making him gurgle. "What a shameful thing to do," I growled in his ear.
"I do not want to be alone anymore." his words were vaguely upset with an edge I could not place.
"Interesting," I listened as his body shivered and his muscles tensed. "Do you think your power is stronger than mine?" I scoffed.
"It maybe I was sired by Alec himself." He puffed with pride.
"You wanna know my secret?" I giggled near his ear.
"What?"
"I was his sibling," whispered in his ear. He knew I was older than him. Way older. "I killed him too." I hissed as I bit down on his neck. My fangs making short work of his jugular. Twisting I ripped off his head. Blood squirted on me and around the alley, we were in.
Licking my lips I walked to the two girls, "I do not fancy females. I will not kill you. Let this be a lesson in who runs the rules around here." I stood looking at them holding each other quaking in fear.
"Do we have abilities like you?" The younger one, matted brown hair with very warm brown eyes asked.
"Hard to say, each vampire is different. Me even more so." I winked. "Stay out of sunlight and find a vampire willing to teach you to fight." I stood up to my full height not realizing I had hunched over.
"There are others?" The older one asked this time. Her hair a lighter brown with hazel eyes.
"There are, you must find the one that is willing for nothing other than to help." I looked around. "Best find a place to sleep, for now." Sunlight is coming." I pointed to the lightness that was breaking up the night. "You will die if it touches you." I used my hands to motion for them to skedaddle.
They took off into the rows of buildings. I had more rounds to do. If young vampires burned I needed to remove them from sight. I found several more vampires of Alec's doing similar things with nearly dead humans. I killed them all. Their offspring too. I was not going to let this feeding frenzy continue.
Once I had a small handle on what was going on I started sending out invitations to the eldest of the vampires. Children of Alec and Tatiana. I wanted to find a way to create runs and safeguards so that humans did not have this happen again.
Letters came back saying they would come to my designated place for a meeting. I was happy they listened. Then again I realized I was their only senior now. I had magic, age, and who didn't love the style I had. Things needed to change, this mess almost got out of hand. Innocents were going to be dying more than they already were. I couldn't let that happen. I was not going to be like the men that killed my village.
I appeared at my mother and mate's grave. I sat staring at them. I could not afford the vampires being found. Hunter's and even normal humans would seek us out for death or pleasure. I didn't want to see the way that the world would turn if it did.
