CH.5 Rose

I woke up gasping for air and sweating. Looking over to my alarm I sighed. Five o’clock was close enough for me to get up. Chalk this up to another sleepless night thanks to nightmares. Throwing my comforter off of me I made my way across the hall to the bathroom.  I stood under the spray of water letting it wash away the nightmares. I quickly showered and went back to my room with a towel wrapped around me. It was now five thirty. I dressed in my standard long sleeve gray shirt that was a little baggy on me. I pulled on a plain pair of blue jeans and my converse. Going to my vanity to start covering my bruises. That’s when I noticed I had no bruises to cover up. They were all gone, my face was bruise free. I had just gotten them yesterday morning. Normally it would take at least two day for bruises to go away. I felt like I was on cloud nine. For a change I did my make up not to cover bruises but just to make myself feel good.  As soon as I got off the bus I was met with an eye full of Jack. He was leaning up against the wall of the school. His jeans fit amazingly and his white shirt was snug on his abdomen. The leather jacket he had on over it made him look like a bad boy. The sight instantly had my mouth salivating. I had to remind myself to swallow to keep from drooling. He bent down and picked up his bag. Smiling as he walked to me. I couldn’t help but smile back. “Good morning beautiful. May I say that you are glowing this morning.” He greeted me, about to wrap his arm around my shoulder, but stopped before he could touch me. I liked that he was trying to give me my space so as to not scare me. But I kind of wanted him to tuck me under his arm. I can’t explain it but I craved his touch. I felt safe when I was with him. A part of me was scared of that fact. Safety is something that doesn't come often for me. I looked down to try and hide the blush that was appearing from his comploment. Seeing his empty hand gave me an idea. I have never made the first move to willingly touch someone, so I was nervous. I slowly slide my hand into his, lacing our fingers together. Once my hand was seacure in his he gave it a small squeez. Looking up his smile was even bigger.  “Thanks I feel better than I have in a long time.” I told him as we started walking inside the school.  “It was the protein shake. It gave your body the nutrients it had been craving.” He explained as we made our way through the halls. “Oh speaking of those.” He said releasing my hand. I felt a loss when his hand left mine and Jack noticed. He picked my hand back up and put it in his back pocket. Some may have found it weird but to me it made my insides warm. I didn’t pay any mind to the fact that the only thing separating my hand from his butt were his blue jeans. I was happy and content.  Jack swung his backpack off his shoulder and opened it as we walked. He took out a water bottle. Handing it to me he started diggin again. Then came out with a muffin. He zipped his backpack and placed it back on his shoulder. Looking at me he smiled. “I brought you a breakfast blend this time and a muffin. You can choose one now and save the other for a snack if you need it. Also if you don’t like the breakfast blend I did bring the strawberry and banana.” This boy was so thoughtful it made me feel like jello. I was feeling so many things right now. I wanted to laugh, cry, and run all at the same time. As he held both options out to me I chose the shake.  I hadn’t noticed we were at my locker until we stopped. I opened it, exchanging my book bag for the book to my first class. “Thank you Jack, you are too thoughtful. How can I repay you?” I asked as I closed my locker as I smiled up at him.  Jack slowly pushed my hair behind my ear. Letting his fingers brush against my skin as he went. “Just keep smiling. It’s all the payment I need.” I laughed at his cheesiness as he grabbed my hand again.  “How many girls has that worked on?” I teased as we made our way towards my first class. Jack’s eyes flashed an electric blue. His wolf peeking out. This time I wasn’t scared. Actually I was feeling the opposite. I was feeling a little turned on. My knees became weaker causing me to lean more into Jack.  “We like it when you laugh.” His voice was much deeper. Vibrating through me, my knees wanting to buckle from all the stimulation. Jack was quick to grab my waist and steady me. We were suddenly much closer. I peeked up at him. His eyes were back to normal but he looked as if he was holding himself back. “I should get you to class.” He whispered but even then his voice was still deep. All I could do was nod. This time he did tuck me under his arm. Tucking me closer to him he leaned down to whisper into my ear. “And don’t worry baby you are the only one I want to drop a line on.” I was shocked by his words and with how close we were. Jack laughed and placed a kiss on the top of my head. “Get to class, baby. I’ll see you after.” He said, giving me a slight push towards the door. ‘Great how am I supposed to concentrate on class now?’  Half way through class I had to ask to use the restroom. That breakfast blend went straight through me. As I was walking back down the hall towards my class. I was suddenly pulled into the stairwell. There Trinity and her goons, Beth and Sharell were waiting for me. Trinity was the meanest girl in the whole school. Her parents were higher on the pack food chain and she felt that that gave her more power. Trinity wasted no time before I could react and she slapped me to the floor. “What do you think you are doing with him you mutt?” She yelled, kicking me in the ribs. “Everyone knows that when I turn eighteen he will be my mate.” This time her goons took the pleasure of kicking me. One caught me in the mouth. While the other landed a blow to my stomach. My body was on fire because of the pain, but I didn’t cry out. I knew that would only make things worse. I kept my mouth sewn shut. “Let me show you what happens when someone touches what’s mine.”  I couldn’t see her. From the kick to the head and how my body was already weak I felt as if I was ready to pass out. I heard the sound of a chain then someone yanks me up to my knees by my hair. Before I could take another breath something wrapped around my neck. It was siring my skin like when you brand cattle. I screamed out as I fought to get away. I was restricted and with every movement the chain got tighter. Burning deeper into my neck. Before I could pass out and most likely die. I heard a roar then the burning was gone. I couldn’t tell what was going on around me. I was teetering on the edge of complete darkness.  Despite that I knew the moment I was in Jack’s arms. I felt a small barely there tingles where he touched me. I had just enough consciousness to try and croke out “Doc.” That’s as far as I got before the darkness to over.
