Casey’s P.O.V
School lunch period on a Monday afternoon, for us magic users lunch was exciting, after we ate we would come outside to f**k around. That’s where we were, behind the football field smoking. Roman got so high he opened a portal to his dorm room to get his homework for next period but he grabbed his cat by mistake. His cat who he wasn’t even allowed to have in the dorms.
Roman has his cat sleeping on his chest while he laid down on the grass the other 3 sorcerers shrunk down to size and laid on some flowers also high as hell. Kylie didn’t want to smoke, as usual she just talked to the ladybugs and I guess she doesn’t realize how cool that would be high. As a fae creature I could talk to animals too, Kylie did most of the talking back to them while I just listened. There were oracle twins in our group too, usually one saw the good future and the other saw the bad future but when they got high it was the other way round. We weren’t the only magic users in the high school, some hung out with humans but we all still knew each other from our parents.
Kylie turned to me once the ladybugs left. “Casey, I want to unite all the species in the school.”
I laughed. “There’s no way that’s happening.” No one ever tried before but why would they?
She got everyone's attention. “Would you guys be willing to makeup with the witches?” She asked.
Roman sat up fast throwing his cat off him, the three other sorcerers who had returned to their original sizes all shook their heads and said no. One of the twins looked at me and said. "Neither of us needs to look into the future to know that wouldn’t work.”
“I’ll get you some elfIsh weed.” She was bribing us, elf weed is like naturally mixed with magic, a lot better than magically altering weed. We all agreed right on the spot. “Can you guys explain what exactly your problem with witches are?”
I got this one. “They think we’re the same, we are magic and they just learn to manipulate and recreate it with potions and our spells. They act like they're better than us when our ancestors are the ones who taught their ancestors magic when humans were still capable. Where’s the respect?”
I think Kylie understood because she didn’t say anything, she just nodded, got up, and left after a while of thinking.
P.O.V Dove
I was sitting with the other witches and warlocks, we were in the drama room. We were swapping lines and using magic in the scenes for good effects. I had just developed my ability to practice magic a few months ago when I turned 14. The usual age for us spell casters.
When we heard the door open we all stopped performing magic and stared at the door as the new student walked it, she was a magic user. I heard she was an elf, well we all heard because rumors spread fast here. She walked right up to me. “This is disguised as a drama club meeting, right? You’re the president?” She asked with no hesitation at all.
I nodded. “Yah I am.” I swallowed, I was so nervous, we idolized magic users, we just didn’t want them to know or they’d just take it the wrong way and make fun of us. It’s just so cool that we can somewhat do what they can.
“Do you guys want to hang out with us?” She asked. “The magic users.” She clarified and we were all shocked by her proposal.
“No.” Brent answered for all of us, he was a senior, he was our real voice, I just had the title as president. “Why would we want that?” He disliked magic users a lot And he wasn’t the only one.
Kylie looked like she wouldn’t take no for an answer, she walked up on the stage and closer to Brent. “Because I’ll do you any favor if you just give us a chance to make things right between our groups, anything you ask.”
I hoped Brent wouldn’t let his ego get in the middle of us high schoolers at least getting along. We should let our parents beef, we don’t have to. Brent turned to me and asked. “What do you want?”
I blushed, I didn’t expect him to ask me at all, he does know how much I looked up to magic users. He was being thoughtful and it wasn’t the first time. “Kylie... w-would you tutor me in magic?” It look a lot of courage for me to ask. Brunt wasn’t the type of guy to hold grudges, he didn't like the magic users but he would heard them out if one of us got what we wanted, I guess we we're our own little coven that way.
The warmest smile appeared on Kylie's face. “Of course.” The bell rang. "Meet us after school in the parking lot."
After school
Kylie’s POV
I got everyone to agree to meet up after school, now that we were all in the parking lot everyone kinda just looked annoyed. Both groups were just here because I bribed them, not because they wanted to make up. We got all the magic users in the school which were around 18 and 11 witches/warlocks. I stood in the middle. “Okay I think you guys fail to understand eachother.” I said and turned to the magic users, “You guys think the witches don’t respect you.”
Dove stepped up. “Th-that's not true!” She exclaimed. “Some of us look up to you guys, you guys can get so powerful and you know so much more about magic, ours feels so limited.” She opened up.
I smiled at her. “See, we have so much knowledge that we can share with them.” I turned the witches/warlock.
Brent stepped up to say something. “But they’re too stuck up to broaden our knowledge, they just look down at us. We’ve never tried to appropriate your culture, we appreciate it, we’re carrying on what our ancestors started with help from yours.”
All the magic users looked down because they knew looking down at the witches/warlocks was partially true. Roman thought hard about what Brent said. “Then we’ll teach you guys, like our ancestors did.” He looked around at the others. “Right guys?” They all agreed because what Brent and Dove said proved spell casters did appreciate mages.
Dove looked the most happy. “We promise we’ll be respectful, show our gratitude and do our best to learn properly.” Roman patted her head probably because of how cute she sounded and she blushed.
After we finished up the sun was fully down, I walked back to my room to see Isaac was already asleep in my bed. I think I woke him up by moving around the room putting stuff away. “Ky.” I loved when he called me that. “I haven't seen you all day.”
“I know, I got the magic users and witches to get along.” I said proudly.
He pulled me into bed with him and I just giggled then he spoke. “It must have not been too hard, they’re not too different.”
I laid against his chest. “True, they didn’t have real bad issues, but it’s not like you or the humans have real problems with them.”
“Kylie, Witches curse humans all the time, a few have been brave enough to curse us. Wolves turn humans sometimes, human’s used to burn witches alive, sorcerers and witches used to sacrifice humans. Humans have witch hunters and werewolf hunters. That’s only some of the issues but my father has kept things under control by being in charge and so will I with this school so none of that happens. Trying to get everyone else to get along is just gonna be way harder for you.” He wasn't trying to discourage me, he was warning me so I could be prepared.
I groaned. “Why are you guys so horrible to each other??”
He held me tighter and I fell asleep, I had no idea how I could accomplish my goal.
