BLAKE’S POV:
I had to rush out because Jake mind-linked me that they spotted a rogue roaming the area. As I was nearing the border, I can already smell the strong stench of a rogue. I arrived the west side of the border with Jake and some scouts.
“Any news?” I asked with a serious tone. This is already too much trouble for disturbing my time with my little mate.
Jackson, one of the scouts spoke out. “He went in unnoticed, Alpha. All we caught was his scent. He must be a rogue his entire life that he’s this skilled and subtle.”
A rogue his entire life? He’s a tough for not being killed up until now.
I nodded in understanding, “Continue scouting every inch of the border. He couldn’t have went past the pack. Don’t let your guards down.” I also mind-linked the scouts from each side, so we continued.
A growl came out of my throat. Be careful, Blake. He doesn’t smell like a normal rogue. Midnight crept through my mind.
I tried sniffing through the air. This doesn’t seem right. I can smell two different kind of rogue scents. The stronger scent belongs to a normal rogue but the less noticeable scent is from an advanced rogue. Something’s definitely not right here.
I ran where the smell was stronger and saw another dead rogue. It’s a trap. He didn’t head this way. This is just to delude us.
Growling, I mind-linked every scouts, It’s a trap! He didn’t head west! Head straight and scatter north, south and east!
Claire and Leila! Midnight growled behind my mind. My house is east.
Before I can process anything, another scout mind-linked me. Alpha! The rogue is headed to your house!
Leila! A rouge is headed that way! Get out of the house now! I mind-linked my sister.
Jake and I met eyes and without thinking, I ran as fast as I can. There was a loud crash at the east.
Fuck! I swear to the Moon Goddess, touch my mate and my sister and you’ll be tore limb by limb.
Jake turned to his wolf form and headed to my house where Leila and Claire was.
Evacuate the people! If the rogue rushes out, make sure to catch him. I mind-linked them again as I jumped to a tree and straight to my room where the windows was shattered, kicking him to the side in the process.
I growled and saw Claire behind Leila. I ran in front of them, Jake followed in his wolf form. I looked over at Claire who was shaking. They aren’t hurt.
“Leila, get out of here, take Claire with you. We’ll handle this.” I told her and she did what she was told. Quickly turning my gaze back to the rogue. “Who are you?” I asked with alpha voice.
He groaned before laughing. “You don’t know what kind of power your mate holds. So step away, Alpha and let me take your mate. No one has to get hurt.” His bones cracked and his clothes got tore as he turned into his wolf form.
That made me very angry. Midnight was ready to take over my form, so I slowly let him.
Jake charged to him and bit his side, throwing him to me. I caught the rogue and slammed him to the nearest wall. Midnight took over my mind so I charged to the rogue again, grabbing his arm with my bare hands and tearing it off from his body.
A power my mate holds? What does he mean?
I was thinking too deep that he was able to scratch my stomach with his other claw, tearing my shirt and kicked me away. Jake continued fighting him. A wolf versus wolf fight.
Growling, I grabbed the nearest chair, slammed it to the floor, breaking it in the process. I grabbed the broken leg of the chair, charging to the rogue and dabbing the sharp part into its head. Blood gushed out as he died quickly. He collapsed the ground with a thud.
I shook my head hastily, snapping out of Midnight’s control. Looking down my stomach, blood was dripping down my pants. Jake was looking at me, Alpha, you’re hurt.
I groaned a bit in pain, the wound was a little too deep. How did I fight very distractedly? I shouldn’t have let this happen. “I’m okay. Tell the scouts the rouge is dead and have this cleaned up and fixed. Get changed and you can take Leila back to your house.”
Jake howled in agreement and jumped out of the shattered windows and destroyed wall. The rogue wolf turned back to its naked human form so I knew he really is dead. I watched the scouts take the body away. I left as soon as the builders came in. Luckily, my room was the only room damaged.
Going downstairs to my office, I found Leila next to my crying mate who’s scooted into the corner, face buried to her arms and knees. My eyes softened. Leila noticed me, her eyes widened as she spotted my wound. I shook my head at her and mind-linked her, don’t worry, I’m okay. Jake is waiting outside. She can only nod and tapped Claire’s shoulder. “Blake’s here.”
She stood up and left, Claire snapped her gaze at me. Her eyes were all red. I sat down next to her, picked up my shaking mate and put her on my lap. “Are you okay? I’m sorry my little mate.” I buried my head at the crook of her neck. She hugged me so tight, crying even more. She’s finally getting comfortable with me.
I groaned a bit when she hit my wound as shifted to get more comfortable on my lap. She gasped a bit, crawling down my lap.
She clasped her hands to her mouth as she finally noticed my wound. “Y-you’re hurt.” She managed to tell me before crying more.
“I-I’m okay, little mate. I’ll heal soon enough.” I reassured her.
It’s true. I’m an alpha, I heal faster than most. I just need rest.
She panicked for a quick while. Managing to stand up, she went inside the bathroom.
I sighed. I scared her off again. This is so frustrating. I groaned from the pain again. For some reason, the wound has a stinging pain, I never experienced this before. There must be something in his claws that delayed my healing. I should be healing by now.
The bathroom door opened once again, the scene shocked me. Claire was walking up to me with the aid kit and her eyes welled with tears.
Wiping her tears, she knelt in front of me, she looked at my wound. “C-can you take off your s-shirt?” A visible blush crawled up to her face.
I did what she told me to. Groaning a bit as I moved to take off my shirt. My heart warmed up. I thought I scared her off again. I watched her as she cleaned my wound, slowly dabbing a warm towel on my wound. I would hiss in pain and she’ll hesitate but continues.
As soon as she finished putting on herbs, her hand traced my biceps. “Sit up a b-bit. I’ll wrap a bandage.” She helped me sit up a bit, slowly leading head to her shoulders, making sure I’m leaning to her so I wouldn’t put too much pressure to my stomach as she wraps it around my stomach. “A-all done.” She mumbled.
I didn’t move and instead sniffed her scent that helps me calm down. She isn’t shaking anymore.
She helped me stand up and lead me to the elevator, going up and into the extra room across our under construction room.
Tucking me on the bed, she just stood there beside the bed, looking at me. “Y-you have to rest.”
There was a sudden knock on the door, it opened revealing Zane. He hesitated when he saw me wrapped in bandage and with my mate. I nodded at him to continue. “A-alpha, should I have Jake handle the trading for today?”
He’s probably with Leila right now and I don’t want to disturb that. He deserves to rest. I was about to shake my head no but Claire spoke up. “C-can you do that? B-Blake needs his rest.” I can tell she’s blushing.
I smiled a bit, liking at how she cared for me. Zane nodded, “Yes, Luna. I’ll tell Jake about it.”
The trading should be later at 14:00. I just have to get her to sleep then I can sneak out.
I gently shook my head to Zane, making sure Claire didn’t see. Motioning him to leave, he bowed before leaving and closing the door. I mind-linked him, I’ll do the trading. You don’t have to tell Jake.
But the Luna said-... I cut him off.
I’ll just get her to sleep. I’ll do the trading. Burn the rogue’s body, have every scouts fed and shift the scouting. I told him and he can only agree.
I looked at my mate who was already looking at me. When she met my gaze she walked away with a blush and feeling shy and hesitant. I can tell she wanted to tell me something but couldn’t.
“Would you mind resting with me?” I asked her calmly.
She looked back at me with her overly red face, shaking her head and forcing herself not to smile. Midnight howled happily. Our mate is finally enjoying our company and slowly trusting us. She walked closer to the bed. I slowly pulled her to me, burying my face to the crook of her neck. She calmed down to my touch, wrapping her hands shyly to my naked chest.
Every part which she touched sent tingles down my spine.
We drifted to sleep.
