BLAKE’S POV:
After eating lunch with my mate, we drifted back to sleep again. I was so happy that she’s finally getting used to me and Midnight. She let me hold her before we sleep, she snuggles to me too and even calls me Blake. Although she still shakes when I move too hastily and a few more restrictions when I touch her.
Looking down at my sleeping mate, I smiled. My eyes roamed her face. Her sleeping eyes, her long lashes. Her normally red cheeks. Her nose. Her lips that I can’t wait to kiss. She’s so beautiful. Everything about her is beautiful.
Thinking about all the things she’s suffered, I can’t let that happen to her now. No one will hurt her as long as I live.
Alpha, the representatives are on their way here for the trading. I’m also on my way up, Alpha. Zane interrupted my thoughts. I can only sigh, slowly turning Claire away from me and making her cuddle the pillow. Her brows scrunched a bit but still slept. I kissed her forehead lightly, and leaving the bedroom door slightly gaped, I met Zane by the elevator. I watched him grab a chair from the dining table and set it just outside the door. My damaged room had workers and it looks busy there.
I told Zane to guard my sleeping mate first while I’m gone. This might be a bad idea but I can’t have my beta and third-in-command do the trading for me because I’m slacking off with my mate. I still have my duties.
Leila also told me that she’s paying Claire a visit later before dinner so she can feed her since she knew I’ll be home late.
I sat on my chair in my office and sighed. Lifting my shirt up lightly and removing the bandages, I was now full healed.
I glanced at the calendar, five weeks before the biggest alpha meet up. I still have to tell Claire about it. Basically, it’s all the alphas from each pack get together for one night. We talk about trading, rogues, allies, rules and everything. As years and years passed, it is now a requirement to bring your mate.
The thought of Claire with a lot more alphas, and who knows maybe the alpha from her previous’ pack will attend. I don’t think she’ll like that. Which is fine as long as she’s safe. I don’t mind going alone after all.
I sigh in frustration, not knowing what to do.
My pack is one of the biggest and strongest pack there is. Thinking about it makes me proud. My pack, I love them. Despite how rude and uptight I am with them, I’d die for anyone in my pack. Every werewolf in my pack was trained, may it be a female or male wolf, they are trained. My warriors and scouts are trained the hardest, they become fully pledged warriors ever since they were young. They dedicate their lives to our pack and so will I. They love their work although they are aware that someday it can get them killed. We will do everything to keep this pack safe for every members.
A phone rang and I wasn’t surprised of who it was from. I answered it and I was greeted with a sigh of frustration. Jace Harton, alpha of the Wrath Claws Pack. He is one of my best friends. We used to hang out a lot, me, Jake, Zane, Jace and Harold. Harold is Jace’s beta also. Our parents have been very close and until now, Jace’s and my pack has been allies.
“Blake.” His tone suddenly sounded welcoming, “How are you?”
“I’ve been well. How about you?” I asked.
He grunted, “Well…I have a problem.” I can only smirk. Jace don’t usually consult me when he’s got problems. He usually goes for Jake, like all of us does when were problematic since he’s good at it.
Well, I guess I do have time for this. The representatives for the trading still hasn’t arrived.
A thought suddenly occurred to me that made me drop my smirk and pinch the bridge of my nose. “I, as well, have a problem. You may go first.”
“I found my mate. But she’s…” He groaned. “She’s so frustrating.” I heard him growl a bit. “She’s just f*****g scared of everything. She was a rogue for a very long time. She cannot sit still and she argues a lot. She’s strong but I can hardly touch her. If I growl, or yell, or act rude, she just pulls herself away from me more. I can tell she’s just acting touch but I know she’s scared. I don’t even know if I can bring her to the alpha meet up. But oh my moon goddess, I will do everything for her. I’m getting way too soft for her. I’m just a whole lot of different when I’m with her. What if she finds out I’m not as soft and I can be cruel. I’m sorry I’m ranting out like a little girl.”
Well, I guess that makes the two of us. “What’s her name?” I asked.
“Lola.” He answered. “Lola Harper.”
I sighed, “Congratulations on finding your mate. I too have found my mate, Claire Williams. She had a pack but she was abused there. And trust me, she’s also very frustrating but she doesn’t act tough, she just cries. We have the same problem, I too don’t know if I can bring her to the alpha meet up. But I think we should tell them about it as early as possible.” I replied to him. “Let’s continue being the different kind of alpha when were with them and when they’re ready, maybe we can slowly unleash the real alpha, were not as bad.”
Jace sighed through the phone. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. Congratulations on finding your mate too. We are indeed on the same boat.” He paused for a while. “Let’s talk more about our mates some other time and let’s have them meet each other before the alpha meet up. How about I pay you a visit on the next three weeks, Saturday?”
“Sounds great. I’ll see you soon, Jace.”
“You as well, Blake.” And we hung up.
Well, I guess I have lots of preparations to do. For now, let’s have this trading done.
