Daybreak

CLAIRE'S POV:
"Come, let's get you fresh bandages." Leila motioned me to come over to her as soon as I left the bathroom.
I gripped my robe tightly.
Her eyes were red. "Have you been crying?" I asked.
She gave me a warm smile and helped me sit on the bed. "I'm okay Claire. The idea of you hurting just hurts me too." She sniffled. "Let's start with your back."
I turned my back on her and let the robe slip down my shoulder. She put cream.
"Claire, if I may ask. Blake mentioned to me that you took pills to weaken your wolf. Since when have you been taking it?"
I started shaking a bit. "Since I was 7."
Leila gasped. "How cruel. Have you had any encounters or talk with her?"
I nodded lightly. "She helped me escape my pack. I still couldn't see her and I know she's still weak after all those pills, but she talked to me as I was escaping."
"What about your parents?"
"Dead."
"Oh Claire. I'm so sorry you have to go through all that." She gave me caress on my arm. I put my hand above hers to reassure her.
We continued talking.

BLAKE'S POV:
"We have identified their ranks, Alpha. We found their third in command, two of their warriors and two omegas." One of my warriors told me.
I entered the dungeon they kept the two omegas to check.
All two of them were awake and kneeling down to the cell.
I nodded. "Have four warriors escort them back to their pack."
"Right away, Alpha." Jerry, the warrior, bowed and was about to leave.
"No please! Don't let us come back there!" One of the omegas begged and the others cried.
I raised my hand, "Halt." and Jerry stopped.
"Please Alpha. Make us your own slaves, just don't make us go back there." Another one pleaded.
I noticed they have bruises and cuts too. Not as much as my little mate's but also very noticeable.
"We don't do slaves here." I told the two of them. "Jerry, does the third-in-command and the two warriors know that we found omegas too?" I asked my warrior.
"No Alpha." He answered.
"Good. Inform the others not to tell that we have two other omegas. Have the four warriors escort those three back to their pack. These two are staying here with us. Provide them with food too and a clean cloth." I ordered and went for the door.
He nodded. "Right away, Alpha."
The two omegas thanked me and I can only nod.
Going to my building chambers and inside my office, I sat on my chair and heaved a deep sigh while pinching the bridge of my nose.
I couldn't sleep last night. Besides wanting to be in the same bed with my mate, I watched her sleep, making sure no one will take her. I left early to sort pack matters but making sure Jake and Zane were there with her. I also told Leila to bring her stuff.
My poor mate, I'll make sure her pack will pay for what they did to her.
There was a knock on my door and Jake went it. "Alpha, your mate's up and Leila's there with her. She told me that you can come up after about an hour and to bring food for the Luna."
I nodded. "Have someone prepare a meal for my mate." He only nodded and I gave him a, "Thank you." then he left.
Grabbing another paper, I continued to sign for trading.
There was another knock on my door.
"What?"
Zane came in. "Alpha, it's a call from the Alpha of the Black Paws pack. It's about their missing pack members."
Slamming my fist on my table, I growled. "Let me talk to him."
This scum.
I unmuted the call. "Alpha speaking."
"Ah yes, Alpha Blake. It is an honor talking to you. Thank you for having-.." I cut him off.
"We found your third-in-command and two warriors. I'll have my warriors escort them back to you. Do not worry."
There was a pause, "No omegas, Alpha?"
I can hear Midnight growling at the back of our head. "No omegas."
"If you find them, please let us know Alpha. I will send my warriors there immediately. We are so worried about them."
I tried to contain my growl and anger. "Is that all? I'm busy."
"Yes, Alpha. Tha-.."
I cut him off and slamming the my fist to the small table beside me, breaking it in the process.
Zane came running in. "Alpha, what's wrong?"
I growled. "Make sure the Black Paws pack won't know anything about the my mate and the other two omegas are here."
"Yes alpha. The squad is also ready to go." Zane updated.
"Good. They can leave now. Once they come back provide them with food and they may rest. Have another team do the scouting."
He bowed and left, at the same time, Jake went in. "The food is ready, Alpha."
"Thank you." I leaned back in my chair.
Jake closed the door. "Is everything okay, Blake?"
"That f*****g coward Jake. I wanna hurt him so bad and torture him painfully so he'll know what my mate has gone through. And his audacity to f*****g lie to me that he cares about his omegas, which includes my poor little mate. And she couldn't even trust me because of all that."
"You have her now and I know she'll learn to trust you. Just go bring her food for now. Leila told me she's just finishing up cleaning her wounds." He patted my shoulder.
I nodded at him and stood up. "Thank you." I looked down to my left, "I'm gonna need a new table."
Jake laughed as we both exited the room.
Grabbing the tray from the cart, I headed up.
I can immediately smell her scent.
Knocking lightly, I opened it revealing my my mate and Leila.
I put the tray on the table and sat down on the couch.
Leila was wrapping a bandage on my mate's thighs. She stood up after she's done. "All done." She looked over at me before gazing back at Claire. "Claire, I have your clothes hanged in the closet. I'll be back for some clothes after my work's done okay?"
My little mate nodded at her.
"I'll leave you two alone." Leila grabbed the empty bags.
"Thank you Leila." Claire muttered and my heart jumped in joy.
My sister gave her a smile.
"Thank you little sis."
She smiled at me "You have a very brave and wonderful mate. Don't go big bad alpha on her okay."
"I won't. Thank you...and Jake's waiting for you outside."
She shook her head lightly. "We have so much to talk about. Him and Zane scared the hell out of Claire."
My eyes widened.
She realized I didn't know that and instead said a quick bye with a laugh.
I heaved a deep sigh and my gaze went to my mate...who I realized was just wearing a robe.
I gave her a weak smile and she smiled back.
My world stopped when I saw her smile, I didn't even realized it that I was walking up to her.
Colors tinted her cheeks as I sat down next to her and slowly put her on my lap. Burying my head to her neck, breathing in her scent all at once.
She was shaking for a while but when she stopped, what she did after caught me off guard.
She ran her hands to my hair, comforting me.
I hugged her closer, making sure it's not too tight so I wouldn't touch any of her wounds.
I don't want this moment to end.
