~SERENE~
I see other members of his pack when I step out of the room. Some standing and some sitting but are all in a deep conversation with one another. I'm unsure of what to do or where to go, so I remain rooted to a spot. It doesn't take long before one of them notices me. She clears her throat, and everyone stops talking at once, turning their full attention to me.
I try to think of something to say, but nothing comes to mind.
'Hello, I'm guessing you all know by now that I am meant to be with your alpha, but he hates me. Still, I'm not going to give up.' That crosses my mind to say, but it sounds terrible. Very terrible. How am I even sure they are any different from their alpha?
Earlier on, they seemed quite ready to do anything commanded of them by their alpha, even if it was slitting my throat.
"I'm pretty sure she's getting creeped out by the way you all are looking at her." someone says, and we all turn to the direction it came from. It's a male, and he approaches where I am. I still remember his face from before. He's the one who caught me.
"Do not mind their weird behaviors. We are usually not used to having visitors, especially one that is here to stay. Allow me to show you around." he offers, extending his hand to me. Such a gentleman, indeed, unlike his alpha.
I place my hand on his, suddenly finding comfort and walk beside him as he leads the way.
"First, I shall take you to your room." he tells me, and I nod in response.
The building is extravagant, and the interior is nothing like I have seen before. Not even the Crimson Pack's mansion can compare to it. The walls are adorned with priceless works of art that showcases the werewolf history, and on the walls also are frames which contains pictures of their previous alphas and lunas.
The floors are made up of the finest marble, and the furniture is no doubt expensive. When he opens the door to a room, I am faced with a king-sized bed and other beautiful decors. I feel out of place in such an opulent surrounding, and I guess it is because I've gotten quite used to living in a small room with not many things in it. Still, I am impressed by the sheer excess on display.
"This is your room." he tells me, and my jaw drops. I get to stay in this place?
"My room?" I ask, despite hearing him clearly.
"Yes, come on in."
I do as he says and do not even try to hide how fascinated I am about it all.
"It already has all the basic things you'll need. I think the only thing that will need fixing is your clothing, and all of that will be arranged by tomorrow."
"It's fine. Thank you..." I want to say his name, but I realize I do not know it. He seems to understand my confusion and quickly introduces himself.
"It's Alaric."
"Thank you, Alaric."
"Sure, and I'm sorry for sounding very threatening when I met you earlier. It's just that we're very protective of our pack, and we sometimes view outsiders as a threat. That's all cleared out now, and honestly, I'm happy you're here." he admits.
"You are?"
"Yes, we are." A different voice answers, and I turn to the door. Two youths are standing there, a male and a female, and in the hands of the female is a tray of food. She drops it on the bed when she gets closer to where I am, and on her face is a wide, genuine smile.
"We brought you food." she says, pointing at it, and I thank her.
"So you all do not see me as a threat?" I ask. I am aware that by tradition, I have a place here with them and they can only force me to leave when I do something very wrong. But I still want to know if they are okay with me here or if they feel forced to have me here because of tradition.
"Well, we obviously do not know much about you and can't say we trust you, but we are happy to have you here because for the first time ever, we have hope for Whyte's lovelife, and we trust that you will not give up on him easily." the other male replies.
"He doesn't seem to like me." I state, and Alaric lets out a chuckle, then replies."He never admits to liking anyone."
"Oh well, I guess that makes sense." I say.
"You haven't mentioned the name of your pack. Will you mind telling us?"
"Oris. That is the name of my pack." I answer.
"No way. You're the first I've seen. I've heard stories about how powerful you all are. Your ancestors too and how they defeated the hybrid." the girl shrieks like a fangirl who just met her idol.
Well, I am from a lineage of powerful werewolves, but on my own, I don't think I am as special as the others. There are stories of how previous members of my pack were able to tame and destroy a powerful cursed hybrid, but I wouldn't say I entirely believe it. Besides, if I possessed the type of power my lineage is considered to have, I would have been able to free Allen by now and not be a slave to the Crimson pack.
"So you are the last one?" the boy asks, and I nod, not mentioning that I have a brother so I do not make them curious about his whereabouts.
"That's so cool. I can't wait to tell the others about this. Feel free to come down later and join us. We usually have a lot of fun activities and games going on." she offers and tugs at the boy's arm.
"By the way, I'm so sorry for not introducing us. My name is Nala, and this is Rio."
"Nice meeting you two, and yes, I'll try to join in later on."
"You don't have to push yourself if you can't. I'm sure you're quite stressed. I'll leave you to relax and eat." Alaric says when the other two leave.
*****
I hadn't realized how hungry I am until I'm done with the full tray of food. It's been two days since I left the Crimson's mansion, and I haven't eaten a single thing since then.
I try to fall asleep afterwards, but the yells from outside does not allow me.
I recognize one of the voices to be Whyte's, and the other Alaric's, and they both seem to be having a very heated argument.
It turns out the argument is about me when I listen for a while. Apparently, the room Alaric chose for me is next to Whyte's own, and Whyte has a big problem with it.
"You should have asked for my permission before choosing that room for her. I do not want her there." Whyte asserts.
"Well, it's the only vacant room left in this building."
"Then you should have taken her to the next building." Whyte yells in return. He sounds so pissed about me, and having heard enough, I open the door and step out to where they are.
He glances at me, and before he can say anything, I speak up.
"I can switch rooms with someone else if available," I suggest. That is the quickest solution I can come up with. I also do not like the idea of leaving this building. Staying here will make things work out smoothly for me.
"No, you remain there." Alaric refuses. Judging from their argument, I can tell he isn't as afraid of Whyte the way the others are and he isn't hesitant in challenging Whyte's decision.
Whyte on the other hand doesn't say anything but I'm sure that if looks could kill, his would have murdered me by now.
So much anger and frustration in his eyes as he looks at me and then back to Alaric and I'm still waiting for him to say something. Anything but he doesn't. Instead, he walks away.
"I know you're probably having second thoughts about Whyte. He is very difficult but I want to let you know that he wasn't always like this. So much happened that made him become the person he is today. Just be patient with him."
"I understand." I reply, a bit curious now to know more about Whyte's past but I figure that this isn't the right time to do such.
"Are you sure?" Alaric asks, concern etched on his face. "I don't want you to feel like you're trapped here or anything."
I smile at him, grateful for his concern. "I'm sure. I'm here for a reason, and I don't want to give up on that just because things are a bit difficult right now."
Alaric nods in understanding. "Well, if you ever need anything, just let me know. And don't worry about Whyte, he's just... well, he's Whyte. He's not always the easiest person to get along with, but he's not as bad as he seems."
I nod, not really sure if I should believe that. "Thanks, Alaric. I appreciate it."
He gives me a small smile before heading back to his own room, leaving me alone in the hallway. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever challenges lie ahead.
As I turn to head back to my own room, I catch a glimpse of Whyte watching me from his doorway. Our eyes meet for a moment, and I see a flicker of something in his expression - something that might almost be... curiosity?
But then he turns and disappears into his room again, and I'm left wondering what it might take to break through his walls and get to know the real him.
