I am Ashley Adler, the unlucky daughter of Lucas Adler, the Alpha of the Grey Moon Pack, who has been living with the omegas since my mother's death while giving birth to my little sister, Layla.

Some omegas love me. Some respect me. Some look at me with sympathy, and some hate me for being the Alpha's daughter. But I don't care what others think about me.

Other than my little sister, nobody matters to me. She is my world. Everything I do, every single step I take, is just for her. Only her happiness matters. She is my responsibility—a promise I made to my late mother.

I sacrificed everything for her, but little did I know that one day I would fail to protect her.

Yes... I failed.

I failed as a sister... and as a daughter.

I couldn't protect my little sister from the rogues. She was kidnapped, but my gut feeling tells me that she is still alive, and one day I will find her.

From the day she was kidnapped, my only motive has been to find her safe and sound. I have been waiting for my first shift so that it will be a little easier to deal with the rogues. And if I am lucky, I hope I find my mate soon, and I hope he will help me bring my sister back.

Will he?

Chapter 1
Ashley pov: Today is my 10th birthday. Mom and Dad gave me a surprise birthday party. Everyone gave me expensive gifts, but the most precious gift was given by my mom—the news I had wanted to hear all these years. Yeah... you guessed it right! She was expecting a baby, and I was soon going to be a sister. “Aww, I love you, Mom!” I yelled and hugged her after hearing the greatest news. Oops! I forgot to introduce myself. As everyone knows, I am Ashley Adler, daughter of Lucas Adler, the Alpha of the Grey Moon Pack, and Olivia, the Luna of the pack. My mom and dad are the most loving couple I have ever seen. They are my idols. I love them to the moon and back. One day, Mom called me, so I happily went to her room. She was in her eighth month of pregnancy. Her belly had grown, and nowadays she looked tired and weak. Maybe it was because of the pregnancy. She was sitting on the bed when I entered her room. I smiled and hugged her, just like I always did. She hugged me back. “What happened, Mommy?” I asked, pulling away from the warm hug and sitting beside her. She smiled, but it didn’t seem real as she said, “I love you, honey, and you know that, right?” Yes, I knew that, but what had suddenly happened to her? Why was she behaving so strangely? I was confused, but I nodded. She continued, “Aash... baby... can I ask you something?” “Of course, Mom... anything you want,” I replied. I smiled and touched her belly, wanting to feel the baby’s movements. It felt so good. Sometimes I wondered how Mom felt—having a baby moving inside her tummy. Mom called my name again. “Aash...” I looked up at her face, waiting to hear what she wanted to say. “Baby, I know you will be a wonderful sister. Trust me, I believe in you. But still, can you promise me something? Please take care of the baby and always protect her. No matter what happens in the future, you will always be by her side.” I was shocked to hear Mom’s words. But if that was what she wanted, of course I would promise her. Without thinking twice, I replied, “I promise I will always protect her and never leave her side, no matter what happens in the future. Anyway, Mom, am I getting a sister?” Mom laughed and nodded. “Hmm.” Dad and I were preparing a surprise baby shower for Mom. With the maids’ help, we had almost finished everything except the cake. Dad wanted to bake the cake himself, and I helped him with the decorations. I was dying to meet our little one, and I could say it wasn’t only me—Mom and Dad were very excited too. We invited some close friends to the baby shower. Mom was very happy, but I felt it wasn’t real. Most of the time, she seemed to force a smile. She looked very weak. Maybe she was just tired. I stayed with her the whole time until the party ended. We enjoyed a lot. We took photos together, danced, and had lots of fun. After everyone left, Dad announced that we were leaving for an overnight stay at our farmhouse. I was so happy that I jumped and yelled, “Wow! Superb, Dad! I love you!” I hugged him, and he hugged me back. Dad usually couldn’t spend much time with us because of his Alpha duties, but he always spared some time to make it special. We had gone on picnics, family dinners, get-togethers with friends, BBQs, and we had already visited the farmhouse two or three times. Our farmhouse was located a little far from our pack, but let me tell you—it was heaven. It was so beautiful that I never wanted to return home after visiting. While packing my things, I noticed Mom was very quiet. It seemed she didn’t want to leave. But why? The farmhouse was not only my favorite place—it was Mom’s favorite too. Yet today, I couldn’t see any joy on her face. Maybe she was just tired. Never mind. I was sure she would feel better after visiting there. We traveled for five to six hours by car to reach our farmhouse. The area where it was located was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. Trust me, no one would ever get bored of such a place. The sea, the beach, the trees, and the flower bushes surrounding our little farmhouse were a beautiful example of nature. It felt so peaceful and calm there. I loved it. When we arrived, the first thing I wanted to do was jump into the sea. Swimming was my favorite sport, but it felt so different when we swam in the ocean. I had a big swimming pool at the pack house, and I swam there every day, but I didn’t want to miss the rare chance to swim in the sea. I changed into my swimsuit and was about to run out of the house when Mom stopped me. She insisted that I finish my breakfast first, and only then could I go swimming. So I obeyed her, as I always did. No matter how much I wanted something, if Mom said no or asked me to wait, I always listened. I believed they knew what was best for me more than I did. By the time I finished my breakfast, the weather had changed. I loved the rain, but Mom didn’t allow me to go outside. Something felt different today. It was unusual for her to say no. She usually let me play in the rain. There had to be a good reason behind it. Still, I got upset. Now I couldn’t swim, nor could I go out in the rain. But I was not a girl who argued with her parents over wants. I always listened and obeyed. I believed they knew what was best for me. Still, I was a kid, and I couldn’t help my mood. Dad tried to cheer me up and suggested playing carrom and eating chocolate ice cream. After hearing those words, my mood immediately improved. Dad knew I loved eating chocolate ice cream on rainy days.
