About My Marriage.

Chapter 3

She was almost frustrated because she had searched everywhere and she was sure she packed

them.

"I couldn't find any of my dresses, including my undies" she said, giving up and lying on the bed as

Mark burst into laughter suddenly

Kemi narrowed her eyes "what's funny" she asked

"You see I know you'd be stubborn so I carefully removed them. Wait why do you think I asked

you if you weren't forgetting anything when I know you don't forget things easily.....even when we

were rushing to travel when we just got married as a result of my Job before i got a promotion few

months our marriage and none since then. So let me confess; i removed them while u were

bathing" He said, laughing harder.

"Now there's nothing to wear" she said, pouting. Mark smiled at that statement, coming closer to

her

"Well....now that there's nothing to wear, will u let me have my way now?" He said, kissing her

neck as he said a word.

"Don't worry about ur clothes. We would buy tomorrow okay" He said, Incase she had wanted to

interrupt.

She giggled at his moves

"When will you ever get tired of this body?" Sue whispered

"None of your business. I paid for it and not the other way round. No more words if you don't want

me to kiss you deeply"

"Well I want you to" she said and......

Okay next scene

Mark was smiling, holding Kemi in her hands

"You're a sweet girl. I've always known you for that" he said as a flirt.

"Now which dress will I wear? It's only the flare gown I came with that is here." She said pouting

"Well, wear it then. It's late today already. We'll go tomorrow okay. So use it to sleep. But I'm so

lucky it's a flare gown. I can still have my way" he said with a wink.

She hit him playfully "what kind of a man did I marry? You're crazy" she said and he laughed

"Yeah I get that alot. So far I'm crazy about you it's fine" he said. Just then he remembered Taiwo

and knew that she was still in the dark. He also remembered he had wanted to tell her about

Esther, her best friend.

"Hey babe, come here" He said, calling here as she had gone to dress up.

"Yes...I'm done" she said as she joined him in bed

"Baby.... I want you to listen to me. I don't want any secret to be kept between us again. Though

what I'm about to say isn't a secret, but I want to reveal some things to you so as not to be kept in

the dark." He said, stroking her hair.

"Okay I'm listening" she replied calmly.

Mark made sure he had her full and undivided attention, then explained everything to her. Kemi on

her side was not too surprised at what he said because after the first three days fast, she has

been receiving little insights and she has to press forward (pray harder) to receive more so as to

fight this battle to finish, not just to finish but to finish strong. At the same time, she was happy at

how mature her husband was

"Man is a real man. I'm so lucky to have him" she thought to himself as she stared at him.

"So that was why I took a three day pass to run away like Joseph, but this time not single but with

you." He said, as he ended his speech, pecking her forehead.

"So tell me my love, do you have any secret you've been keeping from me? You know this is the

perfect time to tell me." He asked gently

Kemi's heart race for a while as she fell silent

"I'm listening" Mark said, breaking the silence

"No, I don't have a secret to reveal to you" she said which made Mark smile.

"Okay then.....stay in my arms, let's stay like this for a while" he said as she smiled

Mark hugged her tight and pecked her head, while Kemi bit her lips doe just telling a lie

"I just missed an opportunity to tell him the truth. Lord please help" she thought to herself.

"Hey.....babe..... sunshine wake up. It's morning already" Mark whispered, gently tapping her to

wake up. Kemi opened her eyes lazily.

"Wat time is it" she asked as she yawned.

"7am.....we over slept" He said as he smiled at her

"Ohh....." She said trying to recall what Happened the previous night.

She remembered thinking about how to relay her little secret to her husband

"I have to tell him today no matter what." She thought within herself

"Dress up, let's go get you some clothes" he said as he was already set to go

They went to the mall close to the hotel to get some dresses. Kemi sensed he was spending too

much.

"It's only me you're buying these dresses for now. We've bought enough already." She

complained, rejecting the one Mark had wanted to add to the quite numerous ones they had

already bought.

"Okay this is the last one." He said

"No thank you" she protested.

"Sweetheart come on. That we're married doesn't mean I can't spoil you, or does it?" He asked

"No, but that we're married means we have other responsibilities to take care of." She responded

"That's when we have a baby and I can't wait to have them" he responded, the response that

made her heart skip a beat.

"But now we're alone, let's enjoy ourselves....we won't be this free when they start coming you

know. The only time we'd be this free is when we're old and we have lost such appetite or

pleasure. Just let me spoil you a little huh" he said pleadingly.

"Okay fine but buy shoes instead" she said.

"Nope. I brought money for that one"

"Wait where did you get the money from."

"I saved it" he said shortly. He actually had wanted to use it to start something, probably

developing they bought a year ago.

"Okay but now I want shoes. So give me the money remaining for clothes as my upkeep..."s she

said stretching her hands, expecting money to be placed in it.

Mark smiled at this and handed the money to her as they went making their choice of shoes and

some undies

"Thanks for today honey." Kemi said as she laid on the bed, worn out.

"Anything for you baby" he responded, removing his shoes.

They had branched at a restaurant and eaten so they were obviously full, and weak.

"I love you." Mark said as he hugged her.

"I love you more." She whispered as she kissed him

"But babe, there's something you need to know" she said as they disengaged

"Yes I'm listening" he said as he gave her his rapt attention

Mark knew there has been something his wife is hiding. How he got to know? Esther told him to

come the next day so she could reveal it to him. So he took a three day pass and went home early

that day

"I'd rather hear it from her" he thought to himself as he asked for permission from his boss.

So obviously, he ran away from his office and home just for him to get his wife to tell him herself

"I'm listening my love" He said as he saw she was scared to talk. He pulled her close and madeher look at him.

"Listen to me. Baby no matter how bad the secret may be, it wouldn't change the love I have for

you. My love you don't have to be afraid, I won't hate you. I won't regret marrying you. I married

you because I loved you and still love you. Despite the initial rejection, I still insisted on marrying

you because I know you'd give me a home. You'd be a good mother, sister, wife and best friend to

me. So please don't be afraid" he said as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I'm really sorry but....." She was interrupted by a phone call for Mark. He checked the ID and it

was Taiwo calling

"Pick the call." Kemi said gently.

"You're my wife. And I also give you the title this day that you're my best friend too. So she isn't

important. Whatever you want to say to me is the most important thing right now. I'll call her later"

Mark said, stroking her hair just for her to feel free to talk. She shed tears the more and hugged

him.

"I can't face him" she thought to herself so she stayed in that position to talk

"Babe I was a club girl before you met me."

"I know" he responded

"I had three abortions during that period and the doctor said my womb is too fragile to carry a

baby. He doubts if I could bring one to this world ever again." She said as she let her tears flow

Mark was thrown into confusion. He had mixed feeling about the whole thing.

He was happy he got to her that from his wife and not a third party and at the same time sad, he

had always wanted Kemi to have children for him.

He hugged her tight as she was still cry.

"It's okay my love. Please don't cry." He managed to say

He remembered when he was at a service and the pastor preached on love, saying every love

would surely be tested, including our love for Christ. The pastor also made mention of so many

Christains who became martyrs because of the love they had for Christ

"It's easier said than done" he thought as he encouraged himself to be a man

"It's fine.....stop crying. Listen to me" He said as he disengaged himself from her, making her toface him

"I still love you. I always will. To be honest, I don't know what to say but I won't change towards

you because of this okay" he said, holding himself. Kemi nodded and hugged him

"This is really a secret. A big one at that" he thought to himself.

His phone was still ringing tirelessly

"Pick the call now. We're fine" Kemi said as Mark answered the Taiwo's call

"Hello"

"Hey... wassup"

"I'm okay how are you."

"I'm fine. Just lonely"

"How's the home. Hope you're taking care of it and hope Tunde isn't disturbing you either"

"No it's not. I just called to tell you that I'd soon be leaving for the States in two days time. When

are you coming home?" Taiwo asked

"Tomorrow by God's grace" Mark responded

"Okay good, I'd still be home by then. Can I speak to your wife please" she said

"Yeah sure" Mark said as he handed the phone over to her

"Hello."

"Hello dear. How are you?"

"I'm fine thank you"

"Good to hear. Can you move away from your husband? There's something I want to inform you

of." Taiwo said, making Kemi to giggle.

"Taiwo I don't keep secrets anymore. I'm done keeping secrets. The last one almost ate me up. So

tell me, he'll still hear. What's up, is anything the problem?" Kemi said, holding his hands

reassuringly.

"Okay. Esther came her earlier today asking to see Mark. She complained she didn't see him in

his office when she went looking for him there. She said she has something important to tell him

and I'm sensing it's your little secret." Taiwo explained as briefly as she could.

"But from the look of things, I think you've told him, right?" Taiwo said further

"Yes I have." Kemi replied

"Good. And he didn't overreact" she asked, twas more or less like a fact.

"Well yes..." She smiled as she pecked him

"You see? I told you. I know him too well. Anyways, be expecting her call anytime tomorrow. And

babe, be prayerful o. That girl is crazy and from the look of things, she'd go to any length to snatch

that good man from you" she said"No problem....I'd be ready for any of her actions." Kemi said with confidence.

"Okay I'll be traveling to the States soon, I've told your husband. Since you guys don't keep

secrets from each other anymore, he'd tell you. Enjoy your honeymoon" she said

"Thanks dear. Bye" Kemi said as she ended the call

"So....what did she say?" Mark said, holding her from behind

"That Esther came looking for you at home" she said briefly

"Wow. This is serious. What does she want from me exactly" Mark asked

"Whatever it is she wants, she's not getting it. You're taken, you're my husband, you're a married

man and you're mine forever and she should learn to accept that. If she wants to learn that fact the

hard way, then I have no choice but to comply" Kemi said with so much confidence.

"Wow. That's the wife I married.....my iron lady" he said as she gave her a peck on her neck

She smiled and faced him, kissing him passionately and then disengaged

"You see even a kiss from you, She's not getting it. You're mine now" Kemi said as Mark smiled

"I'm glad you're back to the woman you used to be, always praying, always knowing what next to

do and actions to take. I love you" Mark said as he hugged her

"I love you more" she responded as she resolved to enter into warfare prayer that night.

It was the third day of their "outing" and that was the day they were to go home, at least to spend a

little time with Taiwo before they'd finally say goodbye.

"Babe, are you done packing?" Mark asked

"Packing, it's still early in the morning. Let's stay here a little longer" Kemi said pleading ."I love this place. ....."she said further as she allowed herself fall on the bed like a child.

Mark smiled and agreed "we'd leave in the afternoon" he concluded

"Yes Sir" she playfully agreed

"But babe, before we go, I want us to go do a HIV test" Kemi said

"What? Don't tell me you're" he said as his eyes pooped out

"No silly, I just want us to do it. I feel something is about to wrong" she briefly explained

"Okay.....let's go now then since I'm already dressed. But you'd explain to me where this is coming

from okay"He said

"Sure, I will" she said as she smiled

"Be sure of this Esther, as long as I have God with me, I'd always be one step ahead of you" she

thought inwardly as she resolved to tell Mark her encounter last night.

"You're both negative Sir. This is the result of the test" the Doctor said as he handed over the

statement of the result to him

"Thank you very much Doctor, we're grateful" Mark said, rising up to shake hands with the Doctor

(in this coro period)

"You're welcome" the Doctor replied as the couple left his office

"So babe, mind telling me what this is about?" She asked as they got into the care, heading back

to the hotel.

"I will, but I think it's better you see for yourself" she replied to which he nodded, understanding

that that's how she does when there's danger ahead and it's been settled in the spirit.

They got home late afternoon and were warmly welcomed by Taiwo who had been expecting them

since morning.

"wow!........our wonderful couple is

back. Tell me, how did it go" she said, facing Mark

"As planned" he smiled

"And......how was it " she asked facing Kemi.

"Under control" Kemi responded

"Good. Can I talk to my bestie's wife b4 I'd be stripped off that position" Taiwo asked, smiling at

Kemi

"You've already lost the title and it has been given to another" Mark said in smiles

"Ohh" Taiwo cried playfully

"Oya iyawo wa (our wife).....let's talk" Taiwo said as she dragged her to the kitchen

"How did it go? What did Esther say? Did she talk about the secret? What was Mark's reaction?"

Taiwo asked impatiently

"Relax babe.....she said she needed to see him urgently. She suggested a restaurant or

somewhere but Mark insisted at his office instead. Then that same night, it was like her plan was

revealed to me. It was like a dream, I didn't really understand it but from the little I know, she

wants to like against me that I'm HIV positive or something. I'm not sure yet but I won't take any

chances. I've done the test, me and Mark and we're both negative. I've also told Mark to record

their conversation as carefully as possible" Kemi said as she stared at her amazed.

"How long have you been a Christian?" She managed to say as she was still surprised at her

wisdom and ability to be one step ahead of an evil plan

"It's been a while now. Why?" Kemi asked

"Hmm...... Mark is in safe hands. You may a young woman, but in the spirit you're more than

matured. You're really a wife and I'd like to imitate you" Taiwo said

Kemi smiled "Thank you. So when are you leaving" .

"Tomorrow. But I feel like cancelling the flight" she responded

"Why? You're not ready?" Kemi asked, concerned

"I am. I want to learn from you. I love your spiritual maturity. Esther still think I'm on her side so

she told me exactly this thing u said you dreamt of. I also want to be spiritually active as well" she

explained briefly

Kemi smiled at this

"Winning a soul" she thought to herself

"Okay I'll cancel my flight and I'd go back in two weeks time." Taiwo said

"Please allow me to stay. Okay one more week" she pleaded, seeing Kemi wasn't too comfortable

"Okay fine, one week" Kemi concluded

"But my husband has the final say" she said

"Sure tell him.....later then, let me not keep Mark waiting for too long" Taiwo said as she left

"Still need careful with her......there's war ahead so take no chances" she heard a voice within

"so what were you guys talking about." Mark asked as Kemi entered the Master's bedroom

"Nothing much.....she asked about Esther and I told her everything" She said briefly while Mark

shook his head

"What. I did something wrong?" She asked

"No babe but....come here" He said as he pulled her to himself to whisper

"It's a family issue babe, you don't have to tell anyone. It was the secret you shared with Esther

that she had wanted to use against. My love please learn your lessons." He said as he kissed her

neck

"I can't resist this body" he said as she smiled

"Ahh....chill o" she said in laughter

"Okay....I've heard you. Let me prepare something for us to eat. Lest I forget, Taiwo said she

wants to stay one more week, that she wants to learn Christainity stuff from me" she chipped in

but he seemed displeased.

"It's obvious you don't like it. That's why I told her I would tell you first." She responded to his

gestures

"Just be careful okay" he said

"No problem" Kemi smiled as she made her way to the kitchen

Mark had resumed work in his office and reported to duty

He was sorting out some things that had piled up as a result of his short holiday when he heard aknock on his door.

"Yes please come in" he replied, obviously expecting a visitor

"Hello handsome" Esther said as she walked in majestically

"Hi Esther,how are you?" He asked

"I'm fine and how's your wife" she asked

"She's doing well" he responded and waited for her to start talking

"Enough of the greetings" she said as she waved her hands in the air and rolled her eyes

simultaneously

"What I have to tell you is more important buy befoe that, where have you been for the past three

days, been coming here but your secretary told me you weren't around" she asked with concern

"I took a break to sort some family issues" Mark said simply

"Hope everything is fine now" She asked

"Sure....." He responded with smiles

"Okay so here....and here have this " she said as she handed two things over to him: a device and

a paper, something like a result from the hospital

"What is all these" he asked as he received them from his hands.

"Just a little something you need to know concerning your wife. So it happens that your lovely wife

can't be the father of your children and she didn't let you know before you married her" she said

with a smirk

"How does that feel?" She asked.

"Surprising" he replied honestly

"And do you also know she's HIV positive?" She added. Mark narrowed his eyes as he didn't

believe what he was hearing

"What?" He asked surprisingly

"Yes. She doesn't deserve to be your wife cks she keeps so many secrets" she said as she stood

up.

"However, I can make you the happiest man on Earth. Think about it, our life together, our children

playing around us. Baby I have no secrets and my womb is fine neither do I have a dark past

mmm....just think about it" she said whispering, after which he kissed his neck and cheek

"It's okay. I've heard all you've said" he responded. Just then, a message popped up in his

computer, meaning his attention is needed urgently

"Well, as you can see I'm busy so you'll have to excuse me please." He said, while attending to his

computer

"No problem but think about what I just told you" she said. She wasn't surprised he didn't flare up

as she had always known him to be a calm person

Mark nodded in response and she left. He waited for Ten minutes to be sure she was gone and

wasn't eavesdropping so she placed a call

"Hello sweetie.....yes she came, she left about ten minutes ago....I have it all recorded.....how did

you know she'd lie about your HIV status......babe we would talk later okay" he said as he dropped

the call

"Work, work , work" he muttered to himself.

Mark came home at the usual time. Kemi was seated with Taiwo, telling her the best she could

about Christains and the weapons they have at their disposal when she heard a knock on her door

"Coming" she said as she made her way to the door

"Hey babe..... welcome" Kemi said and was interrupted with a kiss, which she reciprocated"Mmmm.... yummy. So what was that for" Kemi said with smiled as she ushered her husband in

"My love...... I feel like spending time with you. Like, I married the right woman. How did you know

Esther's plan. Asin, I was so surprised. Like......" Mark said with so much happiness

"Okay okay calm down......come eat your food first then I'd tell you everything" she said as she

laughed at the way he was so excited

"What's the excitement all about" Taiwo said as she greeted Mark

"You see this woman, she's the best woman anyone can have in life" Mark said as she carried his

wife. Kemi was scared and exclaimed "put me down..... egbami, please put me down"

Mark smiled at her "so you mean I can't carry you again ni"

"Just put me down" she said with laughter as he obeyed

"Okay come let's eat then we'd discuss" Kemi said and he obeyed as he was satisfied with her

response.

"Okay so tell me what happened at your office today" Kemi said as she was eager to know how it

went. Mark brought out his phone and handed it over to her in response to he request.

She played it and listened to their conversation

"Great God." She whispered as she listened.

"He indeed is. So tell me, how did you manage to know or did Taiwo tell you that time? Was that

why she called?" Mark asked impatiently.

"Calm down. She didn't tell me a thing. You Know I was fasting before we went on our outing and I

decided to make it seven days?" She asked

"Yes I remember that. Today is the last day of your fast." he said, nodding

"Good. After the call from Taiwo, I went into warfare prayers at midnight. After prayers, I had a

dream. In the dream I saw Esther blaspheming me, that I was HIV positive. I was scared in that

dream and asked her why. She said I shouldn't ask such questions. That I don't know how to

revive what is hidden in you" she explained as briefly as possible.

"Hidden in me, what's hidden in me?" He asked confused

"I don't know too." She said simply and fell silent

"I'll find out don't worry" she said as she saw what she just said troubled his mind.

Mark stared at her like he was saying "are you sure". She smiled at this and brought him close to

her chest

"God is with us. We're ignorant of so many things my love. But with time, when we spend time in

prayers and reading His word. He'll reveal the secrets of our lives. Don't worry" she said as she

whispered, kissing his head and stroking his hair like a mom who was trying to calm a child who

had just seen something scary.

It's been a week since the incidence occurred. Kemi was back on her feet spiritually and had taken

no chances but something was still bothering her- whenever she saw Esther threatening her, she

just stood there powerless and begging like a weakling and this has bothered her alot.

Despite her fasts, prayers, vigils and confessions, her spirit was still as weak as an unbeliever

without weapons.

One day, Mark had come back from work as usual and Kemi prepared his food and they went to

sleep while Kemi stayed awake for midnight prayers. After midnight prayers, she slept like a baby.

Meanwhile, she had a dream. In her dream, she saw Esther again challenging her

"What exactly is it that you want from my husband" she asked

"I want your husband, he is full of virtues and potential which you as the wife has foolishly allow it

to lie unutilized. Just one night....one night with him to have all these beautiful virtues to myself but

u always stand in the way. If I don't have him then you won't either. We both know that his

weakness is in saying no to gifts and it'll be used against him soon" Esther said and walked away

Kemi woke up in little fear but confused

"Why is my spirit so defenceless?" She kept asking herself.

"I need help. I really need help because I don't understand what is going on. What virtues is Esther

talking about. Lord, Please send help." She said as she prayed a little and slept off

It was morning already, the birds were chipping, the c**k had crowed and the sun was slowly

coming out, displaying it's beautiful light.

"Good morning beautiful" Mark whispered to his wife's ears who got up after some minutes"Good morning" she said as she yawned.

"How was your night?" He asked with smiles.

"It was fine." She responded

She saw he was dressed for work already which meant she had to quickly make breakfast, then

she remembered her dream.

"Babe" she called

"Yes hun" he responded, adjusting his tie.

"Babe please don't accept any gift from anyone this period." She said calmly

"Okay. For how long." He asked, stilled focusing on the mirror

"Say three weeks" she responded

"Three weeks? Okay tell me, what's going on?" He asked as he stared at her

"Nothing my love. Would you just please not accept. For our own good. Especially from Esther."

She responded

"Okay no problem" he said as he pecked her forehead.

"At least you'd let me eat in my own house ryt" he said with smiles and she understood he was

kinda hungry and would soon be late for work. She quickly made breakfast, ate with him and saw

him off.

Days passed, weeks passed and there was no sign of Kemi's dream of "bad gift" coming true.

Mark on the other hand had been very careful of collecting anything from anyone but since she

said for the next three weeks and two weeks were gone already, he forgot about the warning.

One of the days he was at his office when he heard a knock. It was his secretary herself

"Sir, you have a present from someone" she said, handing over a small well packaged box.

Meanwhile,

Kemi was still praying and searching her Bible to see scriptures she could use to cancel every evilplan against her family.

She was still on that when she heard a voice within her....

"Evil gift"

"Evil gift? How come, but I told Mark not to....." She was still thinking when Mark's horn interrupted

her thoughts

"Oh no, that gift mustn't enter this house" she thought to herself as she ran out of the house

"Tundeeeee...... Olatunde.....Tunde ooooo" she called

"Maaa." Their gateman responded

"Don't open that gate" she order

"Ma?" He asked, to be sure of what he heard

"I said don't open that gate, that's an order" she repeated as she opened the smaller gate to meet

Mark.

"Bby what is the problem" Mark asked

"Where is it" Kemi retorted

"What? Where is what?" He asked, obviously confused.

"The gift, where is the gift you received at your office today" she asked, controlling herself

"It...it's at the......at the back of the....the car" he stammered as he stared at her

"What kind of a woman is this? how did she know I received something from my office today?

What's going on?" These thoughts kept running through his mind as Kemi opened the back seat to

confirm it was there and then came back to meet her husband

"Good. Now that thing mustn't enter my compound, not to talk of my house" she said with authority

"My love, please what is going on" Mark asked

"I'd explain......but we must throw that thing into the trash first." She said as she entered the car.

"Bby please let's go, there's no time to waste." She shouted from inside the car. It was her shout

that brought Mark back to reality as he was lost in thoughts. He went into the car and drove

towards the city dustbin

"Don't touch it, give it to me instead" she said with confidence as she took the gift herself and

threw it away.

"Let's go home" she said, a bit calm as Mark drove back home.

"Babe explain to me what that was all about" Mark said while undressing

"I thought I asked you not to receive anything from anyone for the next three weeks" she asked

calmly

"I followed that instruction" he responded as he followed her to the kitchen

"Baby this is the third week. If you had been a little patient, you would reject that gift" Kemi said

calmly as she washed the dishes to serve

"But I don't understand. Why don't you tell me exactly what is going on and stop hiding them from

me" Mark said, getting pissed already but controlling himself.

Kemi didn't respond as she noticed he was getting pissed.

"Okay so your dream, let's hear everything" he said after sometime

"Esther said your weakness was inability to say no to gifts and she'd use it against you. She said

you had alot of virtues inside of you that I'd foolishly left to lie there unutilized. That she wants to

collect them by having a one night stand with you" she said as Mark's eyes widened. He didn't

believe or even understand what he was hearing

"One night stand? All my virtues. I don't understand. How will s*x make her take away all myvirtues. What are these virtues sef" he asked as he followed his wife to the dinning room.

"I do no know my love but I'd find out soon." She said

"Hey hey babe" he called as he stopped her from moving

"Please don't hide anything from me again. Tell me as it is instead of just telling me what to do

please ... okay" he said looking into her eyes. Kemi could sense he was already scared.

"I will" she responded with smiles

"Promise me" he said

"I promise" she said as they sat down to have their meal.

It's been two days now and Mark has not been getting himself. He had called his boss and asked

for three days break to take care of his health, hoping to be back on his feet on the third day, but

the boss gave him seven days as Mark was one of his favorite employee and wouldn't take a

break or pass without a solid reason.

Kemi is seen with her husband in the bedroom, trying to know what exactly is wrong with him

"Baby how are you feeling?" She asked as she placed her hands on his head gently

"I do not really know my love. It started from my hands being very heavy and now I can't lift my

body" he said, almost in tears as he was tired of the situation.

"Shhh....it's okay bby. Everything will be fine okay" she said as she started thinking

"What exactly is going on? What's wrong? Wait, could it be....oh my God" she thought as she

remembered Mark telling her that the gift was put in a decorated carton and the giver had warned

his secretary not to check what was inside or touch it, that only her boss(Mark) was permitted to

do so.

Mark on the other hand, brought out the gift from the so called carton, out of sheer curiosity.

"That's it" she said as she snapped her fingers

"Did you figure something out?" Mark asked in a weak tone"Not to worry dear." She replied with smiles

"No." He said, shaking his head

"Tell me everything" he said further

"Okay. I'm thinking this thing is from the gift you received. But the problem is I don't know what to

do about it or what prayer to pray concerning...." She said, interrupted by a knock and doorbell on

her door.

"Who is it?" Mark asked, scared

"Being scared doesn't help matters. God has not given us the spirit of fear." She said, stroking his

beards to calm him down.

"But why did God allow this sickness to befall me?" He asked

"You don't blame God for anything that happens to us. He has given us all weapons necessary to

fight but we don't even know about them, talk less of putting them into use" she explained further

"I'm coming back, let me know who's at the door." She said as she pecked his lips and headed for

the sitting room.

She opened the door to find out it was her mother. Her joy knew no bounds

"Mama!!! Oh my God. Thank you Jesus. Mama welcome" she said as she couldn't hide her

happiness

"Kaare....." She responded as Kemi ushered her in.

"Where is your husband?" She asked as she took her seat

"He's in the bedroom mama"

"Doesn't he know I'm around?"

"I haven't told him. He has been bedridden for some days now Mama" Kemi responded

"Bedridden bawo. A young man like him." Mama said, surprised

"Oda. Let me go and see him" She said as Kemi led her to the Master's bedroom.

Mama was not surprised to see him like that but was very much surprised to find out that Kemi

had allowed her husband stay in that position for two days now"An enemy has done this" Mama said

"It's an arrow. Fire it back to the sender. But Kemi, why did you allow your husband stay in this

position for too long? Ehn Kemi...." Mama asked

"I don't know what to do mama. I've been praying and asking God to heal your husband" Kemi

voiced out

"Asking God to heal your husband. You can imagine. Don't you know the enemy's handiwork

when you see one. It wasn't God that put this sickness there and what your husband is suffering

from is definitely not ordinary. I can see you're still a baby Christain" Mama said as she felt the

temperature of her son-in-law who was too weak to talk

"Have you eaten" Mama asked

"No ma. I don't eat early in the morning ma."

"Good of you. What of him" Mama asked, pointing to Mark

"He has Ma. I fed him not quite long." She responded

"Good. Since you've not eaten, turn it to fast. Break anytime you want to because what is more

important for this kind of battle is a serious night vigil." Mama said

"Battle?" She asked

"Before nko. Is it uncle you see him in the hospital with drip all over his body that you know this

young man is battling with his life, and you're letting all these happen, leaving him to fight alone."

Mama said

"Kemi, I must say that I'm very disappointed. Didn't I teach you all these before you married him? I

made sure I thought you all these so the enemy doesn't take you unawares and you'd be one step

ahead of the enemy." Mama scolded as Kemi bowed her head in remorse

"That's not important now. Start praying" Mama said

"But mom, what should I pray about"

"Send all the evil arrows fired against your husband back to the sender" she said shortly as she

left the room for them"Mama wait, where are you going to?"

" I came to see you and I've seen you so I'm going back" Mama said simply

"Going back to where"

"To my husband's house of course" she responded

"Mama noo.....I'm a baby Christain, I'm still a chicken Christain whereas I'm supposed to mount up

with wings like the the eagles. I'm supposed to be living a mountain top life whereas I'm still

dwelling in the valley. Mama please, you're going nowhere. Stay here" Kemi pleaded.

"Stay here for sometime even if it's just two weeks and I'd wish you could stay longer than that."

Kemi pleaded

"But I didn't bring any cloth or any of my stuffs" mama protested

"Mama you are not a stranger here. This is your daughter's house. Everything you need will be

provided soonest. For now, I still have some of your dresses and what you'd use." Kemi replied

"Okay o.....Two weeks abi"

"Yes Ma."

"Oda. Let me call your younger ones and tell them I won't be coming home anytime soon" she

said as she left

"Mama let me escort you." Kemi said as she stood up

"I know my way around here and I need no urgent attention. He does" she said, pointing to Mark

and left for the guest room.

Kemi stared at her husband, lying helpless on the bed.

"My love, I'm sorry I haven't been strong enough to protect you from this evil. You'd be back on

your feet soon, I promise" she said as she kissed him and went into prayers.

That night was no rest for Kemi as she kept praying and send the arrows of sickness back to the

sender, according to her mom's directives.

In the course of the prayers, she noticed her husband wasn't sleeping because he was restless as

a result of the sickness that has befallen him.

However, as prayers were going on, he began to regain his strength little by little and even went further to say "AMEN" to his wife's prayers. She later concluded her prayers after three hours.
