Cusa froze at first when she saw Mitena standing right outside the room they shared with a glare directed towards him. “So you live in that room now?” Mitena asked. She didn't pretend to be angry because she was indeed angry. She had been so blind in her previous life that she had overlooked every one of Cusa's shortcomings, and now she realized what and who he was; his mere presence made her angry. Her words made Cusa realize that he couldn't stand there and argue, so he quickly recovered, walked up to her, and pulled her into their room. “You persuaded me into letting her stay in the room next to ours, and I agreed, but what you failed to tell me is that you, too, have moved into the room with her,” Mitena said the second Cusa closed the door. “I didn't move into the room with her,” Cusa said defensively. “Really? I have rarely seen you these past days, Cusa. You are permanently at her side,” Mitena said trying her best to sound jealous. “I need to take care of her,” Cusa defended. “There are a million and one people in this pack that you can assign to take care of her. Do you have to do it yourself?” Mitena asked. “Yes. I have to do it myself, Mitena. Don't let jealousy crowd your senses. She saved my life and it is my duty to nurse her back to health,” Cusa said. “She is not the first person to save another person’s life. Why are you handling this whole thing as if it is something special?” Mitena scoffed. “You didn't just say that Mitena, did you? I am ashamed to call you my wife. Are you this heartless or is jealousy making you this senseless?” Cusa’s face was red with anger. Mitena was intentionally pushing his button. She was intentionally pushing him farther away from her. Anders had suggested that the farther Cusa was away from Mitena the better. “I am ashamed to call you my husband Cusa. You are attending to another female like you are getting chamber made while your wife lies in the bed alone every night,” Mitena said getting in his face. “You will keep quiet this minute Mitena,” Cusa said with his voice rising in anger. “If I do not keep quiet, what will you do, Cusa? Will you beat me? Or perhaps you might not want to do it yourself, so you can ask your father's Beta to do the dirty job for you, since you both have been killing slaves by beating them to death, since only you both know when,” Mitena said without even stopping to catch her breath. “You are mad Mitena. I thought you were only lazy and spoilt but I can see that you are raving mad,” Cusa said. “And you are sane? I want that girl gone from this pack,” Mitena said. “She is not going anywhere. She stays. She is my guest and she can only leave if I want her to leave,” Cusa shouted at Mitena. “I hate you,” Mitena said in a whisper. There were tears in her eyes. They were real, they weren't fake because she meant her words. She opened the door, left Cusa standing in the middle of the room, and walked away. She went downstairs where Anders was waiting. She didn't stop until they were both standing under a tree not far from the house. “He still has the power to make you this sad?” Anders asked in a whisper. “No. I am not sad because of him. I am sad because I was so foolish not to have seen through his facade,” Mitena said. “You were not foolish. You were in love. Sometimes the ones we love are the ones who betray us in the most unimaginable ways,” Anders said with pain in his voice. “You speak as if you have once been a victim of betrayal. A girlfriend or a wife perhaps?” Mitena asked turning to face him. “I am a slave Your Highness. I don't think I am entitled to feelings,” Anders chuckled bitterly. “You are no longer a slave Anders. You are my guard,” Mitena said frowning. “More like a glorified slave,” Anders said as if he had something bitter in his mouth. “You do not like this arrangement perhaps?” Mitena asked. “Nothing is wrong with this arrangement. I don't just want it to get into my head that I am more than what I actually am,” Anders said. “Can you be my friend then? At least that way you know that you have someone you can connect to,” Mitena said. “When this is all over, you will go back to being the princess of this kingdom and I will…” “You will go back home. I will do everything in my power to get you back safely, and I will make sure that you are happy,” Mitena said, cutting Anders off. “Some promises are very difficult to keep,” Anders said looking straight into Mitena's eyes. “When I make promises to friends I make sure that I keep them,” Mitena said. “Very well then Your Highness. I think the earlier we resolve yours, the earlier we can resolve mine, so how did the button pushing thing go with your husband?” Anders asked. Anders changed the topic because it was starting to bring back memories that were far too painful. Topics about betrayals were not ones he wanted to discuss. He had his bite of it and it was damn too bitter to swallow. It gave him nightmares each time he allowed himself to think about it. “He was angry, but from what had happened in the past, he would seek me out to apologize once he talks to his parents, especially his mum,” Mitena said. “Why?” Anders asked. “They will remind him why it is important to make sure I still love him. They need help from the palace and they won't want him to ruin their chance,” Mitena answered. “If he comes to you, pretend as if you have forgiven him then act jealous again. He will storm back to the girl in the next room. The earlier they start their atrocious affairs the better,” Anders said. “But how shall we get evidence for his infidelity?” Mitena asked Anders. “We know that the parliament deals with facts, so I am going to assure you that I will get evidence, but I need you to trust me,” Anders said. “I wouldn't bring you on board then tell you everything if I didn't trust you Anders,” Mitena said. “Okay. I will need some things that I will want you to get for me to help with all of this,” Anders said. “Of course just tell me what you want,” Mitena said. “One other thing is that I want you to think about how we can plan it so that you will not be alone at any time. If I am not there, then Leotie should be there,” Anders said. “Of course, we will work something out,” Mitena said. “I think we should go back now,” Anders suggested and they made their way back to the house. On the way, they met some pack members who looked at Anders scornfully before looking at Metina as well. “I don't know why she can't walk around the pack alone. I am sure her guilty conscience is why she can't walk alone. She knows that no one likes her and her over-bloated ego,” a pack member who thought she was bold said. Mitena turned towards her and glared at her. When she realized that the pack member got scared, Mitena growled, and the pack member immediately went to her knees. At that moment, Mitena missed her wolf. If her wolf had not sacrificed herself to see her come back to life, she would have let it come on the surface and scare the pack members further. “If you ever say anything of such to me again, I will tear you into shreds,” Mitena said to the shivering female on the floor. In her former life, Mitena would have simply walked away because she wouldn't want the pack members to think she was using her position to terrorise them but she no longer cared. They created a monster and they would live with it.
