Chapter 19 - Don't Close your eyes

Derek POV

Pain, all I feel is pain, never ending pain.

I keep hearing the faint voice of Alexandria but I can’t make out what she is saying.

I try to open my eyes but even that hurts ,then I smell it, Alexandria’s scent, but there is something different about it, it’s mixed with…Fear!

I try to open my eyes again but everything is a blur and I can barely make out my surroundings.

I hear Alexandria’s voice again and try as much as I can to concentrate on her voice, at first it was muffled and far but then I could hear what she was saying or rather shouting.

“GET UP, DEREK” Alexandria shouts.

The pain is starting to subside and my sight is getting better, but still not enough.

The first thing I see is Alexandria’s back, then I notice the two daggers she is holding, one in each hand, she is taking a protective stance infront of me 'What the hell is going on?' I ask myself.

Then I heard it, snarls and low growls.

I try to open my eyes even more, Rex trying to help me as much as he can so I could gain my bearings but we are both weakened by the rejection process.

I’m finally able to see more clearly, five dirty grey wolves, baring their teeth and snapping their jaws threateningly, in an attempt to make Alexandria waver from her position of protecting me, but she doesn’t budge.

They look like rogues but they don’t smell like rogues, in fact, they don’t smell like anything, they don’t have a scent, what the f**k?

Witches, they must be working with witches.

“DEREK, GET THE f**k UP” Alexandria shouts again and I barley choke her name out.

“Ria” it came out weak and strained, they really picked the perfect time to attack, didn’t they.

“Hey, thank god, you have to link someone, I can take them but I don’t think they are here for me” she tells me and I try to link Dean or anybody nearby but Rex is too weak to even link.

“I can’t and I don’t think anyone can hear us” f**k me for choosing a secluded area to have a private talk without the chance of anyone over hearing us, if I only knew how it was going to end.

as I finish my thoughts, a loud growl comes out of one of the rogues as he charges towards Alexandria and instead of stepping back or just holding her spot, she actually runs towards him as well.

As soon as he jumps with jaws open wide trying to rip her head off, she ducks, sliding under him and stabs him right in the chest, letting his own momentum make him slide against her dagger, almost splitting him in half.

He drops dead with his abdomen open and his bowels hanging out.

She doesn’t even look back as she rushes to the other rogue and jumps in the air as high as she can, coming down with all her force, jamming her dagger into the top of another rogue’s head, leaving it there and he dies instantly.

As soon as she turns, another rogue tries to s***h her with his claws but she dodges it slashing his forearm in the process.

He whimpers in pain but attack right back with his jaw open and teeth bared.

She doesn’t have much time to react so she drops the dagger she has left and holds his jaw open with her bare hands as he tries to go for her throat.

She actually holds him back and with more force she would be able to snap his jaw in half.

Impressive, doesn’t even begin to describe it, I’m in total awe, she looks fierce, covered in blood and with fire in her eyes, she really is something else .

I see another wolf coming for her trying to attack her from the back.

Oh no, she won’t be able to fight him off, she is still holding the other wolf back with both of her hands. I have to help her.

“REX” I call for my wolf and with the little strength we have, he shifts immediately without another thought, charging for that wolf’s throat.

Rex locks his jaws around the filthy rogue’s neck and applies as much pressure as he can. If he was in his full alpha strength, this wolf would have been dead in seconds, maybe less.

Suddenly, I feel a sharp pain around the back of my neck and I feel claws digging into my sides.

I groan in pain then I hear Alexandria screaming “NOOOO”, I hear a snapping sound followed by a big thud.

Panic, fear and anger washes over me.

Was that Alexandria falling? Did he get to her? No no no, that can’t happen, Rex clenches his jaws in rage, snapping the neck of the rogue between his teeth.

I feel the wolf above me getting a little heavier then I hear her voice. Relief is all I feel, even if I’m about to die.

“Let go of him before I snap your f*****g neck” Alexandria shouts at the rogue and he lets go of me as he growls standing on his back legs trying to shake her off of him.

I fall to the ground, shifting back to my human form, Rex unable to hold on any more, losing all our strength, I roll to my back and see her on top of the rogue’s back, her arms around his huge neck, she groans in frustration, then delivers her promise, snapping his f*****g neck.

She comes rushing to my side, checking me with a look of panic in her eyes that I had never seen before.

“You are fine, you are going to be fine” she says.

She is a terrible liar because I feel my blood forming a pool underneath me, my breathing is getting heavier and my heart rate is slowing down.

Alexandria starts franticly taping her pockets.

“WHERE IS MY f*****g PHONE” she yells, she looks around, gets up and comes back by my side in seconds, her phone already on her ears. It must have fallen during the fight.

“Sophia, you have to get here right now and bring a doctor” she says, trying to sound as composed as she can.

I feel my eyes getting heavy and I can barely open them.

Maybe I can just rest them for a second, just till help arrives.

“Derek, open your eyes, don’t you dare close them you son of b***h” she screams at me, her voice dripping with desperation.

I try to open them as she asked but I can’t, I can’t feel my body anymore and I can faintly feel her hands on my cheeks.

“Derek, no no no, please stay awake, no, you can’t, I’m sorry, please don’t leave me, I’m so sorry” I hear Alexandria’s broken voice begging me to stay awake, it seems to be far and getting even further away.

I try as hard as I can, if only for her sake, to open my eyes, but I fail as everything goes dark.
