I have been interning at a hospital in Zarique for almost two and half months now. After Blaine set up the interviews and meeting, I was selected for the interning position. August drove me every day from Obsidian moon, but when the nights were crazy and I was too tired to shift and run, I would sometimes sleep in the hospital. "Mom, what do you want to talk about? The Ritual of Fuil was a ceremony where the Alpha would mark the wolf (the mark would be made above the wrist on the left hand), who could then become a part of the pack. Only when they become a part of the pack could they mind-link with each other. "I-I am thinking." "What is there to think? Also, your Luna ceremony has to be done, as well. It has already been three months." "There are just too many rituals and ceremonies in Verfarkas, for the Goddess' sake," I said with a frown. Tainteds didn't have this many rituals. "Well, wolves love their celebrations," she said with a wink. "Oh, they do. I will talk with August later. Now, I have to run," I said as I quickly pressed a kiss on her cheek and speedily walked all the way to the dining room. People along the way greeted me, and I replied back. "I don't have time for food," I said to August as I ran to the car. I sat down, motioning him to start the car. "I knew you would do this," August said as he handed me a box. "So I packed your breakfast. Now, eat." He revved the engine and soon we were driving through the winding roads, bordered with jasper and emerald-colored trees, snow-capped mountains. I ate the twisty bun, the soft crepe as I stared at August. He looked sexy as sin. It was his fault I couldn't resist him when I first stumbled into him. The receptionist at the front desk fanned herself, her buggy eyes scanning my Alpha. I shook my head at her and she smiled abashedly before she looked down. I gifted you one when you started here," he said as he walked next to me, his stethoscope hanging around his neck. "I need to go check on Doctor Gemma's patients." "I will come with you." Doctor Gemma was my supervisor/senior attendant. I grabbed the file and walked to the room. Most of the patients here were Tainteds, and some were very seriously injured shifters, who couldn't heal themselves. Soon, I was walking from room to room, checking on the patients and making note of their improvements and changes in the dosage of the medication and just talking with them, when a commotion broke out in the front. Everyone was talking... Hera lifted her head, looking agitated and anxious. My fingers crackled weirdly as the blue light flickered on and off. It was strange. I never had these magical accidents anymore. I had fully mastered my magic with the help of my birth mom, Minerva, and Azareal. Now, my magic worked when I wanted it to work. It turned good when I wanted it to be good and bad when I wanted it to be bad. "What is happening there?" I looked at Blaine, who had been following me. I knew there was no way in hell he would know what was happening, but I was so nervous I didn't think twice when I asked him. "Let's go," Blaine said and I followed him, as my stomach flipped inside me. The man on the stretcher was unconscious. There were bites on his legs, on his stomach. Long gashes ran along his arms and chest, oozing blood. He looked so pale. He was bleeding profusely, but still not dead, which meant he wasn't a tainted, and his power wasn't strong enough to heal him. "Bloodmongrels," one of the nurses said with a wince. I flinched. My heart twisted strangely as I stared at the man. I had seen blood, more than this, but I didn't know why this was making me queasy. I gazed at him, as big wild birds flapped inside my stomach. His eyes flickered open. Blue. Like burning flames. I gasped. Hera went still. "You smell like a man," he whispered as his eyes locked with mine and they burned in his anger. Those eyes.... familiar eyes! His fingers buzzed and I could see his magic. It was a soft golden light, but it was only barely there. I cleared my throat as my heart banged in my chest.
