“Babe, what’s wrong?” Rena asked surprised. “It's fine. I am serious. It's just a doctor that was assigned to me. Relax.”
Dave's hands slid on the table, and soon they met hers. An electric shock surged through her as their eyes met. Her feelings weakened her knees as her cheeks blushed like a child.
“Baby, I am sorry things had to be this way. Don’t worry about what’s happening outside. Sharon is taking good care of the kids and they love her so much. But I want you back. Life is different without you. You are an amazing mother and I want you to take care of our kids yourself,” his voice was solemn.
Rena’s smile sprinted from lips to lips.
“I will be back soon. I promise. In fact, I begged the doctors not to tell you. I have a surprise for you.” she gave her word.
“Really?” he arched his brows.
She hushed his lips.
“Shhh…till then thank Sharon for me. It's not easy to take care of kids that ain’t yours.”
“Trust me, humanity still exists,” he kissed her hands. “Soon, you will be back in our house and in my arms again.” She blushed.
“You’re one flirty type,” she raised her brows.
“Always with you my love,” he nodded and she laughed. How much she’s missed him. “Will you come back home when you are out?” he asked with a mellow tone.
She was silent for a while as the words of the doctor flooded her mind.
“Rena…”
She nodded, brushing his thoughts off.
“Yes, I will come with you,” she giggled.
“That’s more like it.”
His hands wrapped around her waist and he’d pulled her lips closer to his.
“Who knows, when you come back, I can take you to your favorite restaurant, Savour G Elite. Have you forgotten? The place I promised to propose to you,” he reminded her. Rena's smile lessened.
“You never did,” she said. “You said it was too expensive, and you couldn’t afford it. I understood the situation.”
“I am sorry our marriage happened the way it did. I couldn’t propose to you properly. I promise to do it again. Just you and I, and the empty restaurant,” he sniffed her neck before directing his lips towards hers. “Dancing alone there…forever…to a nice slow tune…just you and I…and the restaurant…”
Their lips pressed against each other like honey and he sucked hers in. Her breathing quicked, her heart raced and her stomach churned. The kiss was so deep, she’d felt slowly turned on. A knock came on the door breaking them apart.
They felt a bit embarrassed.
Her gaze went back to him as she blushed.
Time went by faster than she thought and Dr Ferdinand invited her for therapies more often. He fed her on the progress of her case and how high her chances were to be free again. Rena couldn't hide her joy. Just one more week, he told her. One more week and she would be back to her normal life.
In the final week, her things were packed and her documents were prepared. The nurses hadn't forced her to stay in the cell anymore. Rather, they assigned her tasks to help other patients while they took breaks.
“Give this to Mrs Elena,” one of the nurses said, stuffing a tray of meal in her hands.
“Of course,” Rena nodded nicely.
“You have a big heart. In fact, you are too nice of a person” The nurse said coldly. “Maybe you should be a nurse someday. Who knows? You will go a long way.”
“I will think about it,” Rena said wondering why the nurse gazed at her with such resentment.
“Open your eyes, girl,” the nurse eyed. “Be very careful:” The nurse adjusted her scrub and walked away without looking back.
“I don’t…I don’t understand…”
Rena stood where she was both creeped out and worried by what she just witnessed.
She began to have a very bad feeling about this.
