Jason and Zoe hid on the first floor of a building with the little girl.
After he got the little girl off his back and quickly pushed her and Zoe into the room, Jason immediately locked the glass door behind him.
He was intending to use the sofa nearby to block the door when it was smashed by several dirty hands, which came in through the broken door trying to scratch his face!
The dirty, sharp nails almost caught the tip of Jason’s nose, which made his heart jolt.
“Watch out!” the little girl shouted.
Jason craned his neck to escape the zombies’ clawing hands, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.
There were at least seven or eight zombies crowding around the door, their faces pressed against the broken glass door frame. They were desperate to cram into the room, a bit like when shopping malls opened their doors for Black Friday deals.
But Jason, who was the “shop assistant,” wasn't kind enough to let them in.
The glass on the door frame had already broken, with sharp fragments protruding from it. The zombies didn't feel pain at all. They kept struggling, like famished dogs trying to get out of a cage. They even dragged their faces across the glass fragments, cutting off pieces of rotten flesh which fell on the floor. They made slurred, low howls in their throats like manic beasts. The door that Jason had locked could hardly bear their frantic onslaught. They would soon break through it!
Zoe immediately helped Jason push the sofa over to support the door.
The bottom of the sofa rubbed against the ground, making a harsh grating sound. The iron sofa in front of the door was very heavy, but it was still being knocked out of position by the frantic horde of zombies.
Fortunately, it was temporarily keeping the door closed.
Watching the terrifying scene at the door, the three people in the room didn't speak to each other. They subconsciously held their breath and slowly moved backward.
After the zombies pounded the door for a while, they slowly lost interest and their force against the door gradually weakened. Perhaps they were confused by the silence in the room, or perhaps they couldn't smell the scent of humans from a certain distance. Either way, they slowly changed from a group of extremely excited monsters to weak walking corpses, slowly dispersing from the door and searching aimlessly for their next prey.
Both Jason and Zoe breathed a sigh of relief as they watched the monsters slowly walk away.
Zoe panted and looked at Jason. Only then did she have time to scrutinize the partner who had just fought beside her.
Jason was covered in sweat. He was currently only wearing a tight black vest, as he had just torn apart his shirt to wipe away the blood and flesh from Zoe's eyes. His back was wet. His muscles, weak-looking but very symmetrical, were covered in shiny sweat. His face, neck, and trousers were stained in blood, and even the lashes on his pretty green eyes were dyed red.
Jason didn't realize that he was exuding a very attractive vibe thanks to fighting off the zombies and carrying out an extremely impressive rescue.
Zoe looked at his side profile, somewhat fascinated.
Upon sensing Zoe’s gaze, Jason quickly turned around and looked at her.
Zoe was undoubtedly beautiful.
Her tanned skin was very healthy-looking. Her eyes were deep and seductive. She had a curvaceous figure, and her buttocks were fleshy and cute. She had a wild, sexy quality that only a Latino could have.
Her long legs were covered in black leather pants, and she wore a slip dress beneath a black leather coat. Her sumptuous breasts were heaving from all the frantic movements she'd just been making.
It was impossible not to be attracted to such a seductive bombshell.
Almost instinctively, Jason looked at the two lumps of soft flesh on her heaving chest. After looking at them for a short while, he suddenly realized he was in danger and immediately pulled his wild eyes away from them.
As his eyes lingered on Zoe’s sexy body, Jason was completely unaware that everyone in his livestream was following his gaze.
Wherever he looked, the camera in the livestream would follow.
Even after he looked away, the sexy scene which had just been shown still ignited the bullet comments.
[Oh my god! What on earth is on this man’s mind? I’m impressed he can still think about s*x in such a crucial moment.]
[Don’t say that. With such a sexy bombshell around, who can resist looking at her? Even if our brains were about to be eaten by zombies, we'd still look at what deserves to be looked at.]
[Come on. It’s time to make a bet again. I bet 100 points that we'll get to see a s*x scene again this time.]
[I think that might be too hard for our little brother. He doesn’t look very strong.]
[Which poor guy shamelessly bet 100 points? I bet 1,000 points that the two of them will both be dismembered within an hour.]
[I bet 10,000 points that they will make love as they are being dismembered.]
[...]
Zoe, who saw through Jason, gave him a meaningful smile and swept her long black hair, which was heavily stained with blood and looked like a real hindrance to her.
She tied back the long hair behind her head, revealing her long slender neck and broad, pretty shoulders. She looked much neater and more attractive this way.
Jason awkwardly cleared his throat and said to her, “My name's Jason."
“Zoe."
“You... where are your partners?” Jason asked in an unnatural tone.
“Who knows, judging by the situation just now they might've escaped."
It sounded as if Zoe had a grudge against the other three partners who had left the others to die. She gave Jason a meaningful look before walking up to the little girl.
Jason hadn't had the time to see Zoe’s weapons, because he had just been in a critical, life-or-death situation.
Now he saw that hers were exactly like his g*n.
So the blue-white light, which looked like a virtual object from an electronic world, could transform into deadly weapons when they were touched. Was this world real or fictional?
If the world was fictional, were the people who lived here and the zombies who wandered around real or fake?
Jason looked at the little girl huddling in the corner, lost in thought.
The little girl looked very pathetic, so Zoe walked over and tried to comfort her.
The little girl wasn't frightened when she saw the tall woman coming towards her. After all, the two adults had fought hard to protect her. However, because she'd been highly vigilant for such a long time, she instinctively huddled away and moved backward when Zoe approached her.
As she moved, she felt something behind her. She looked back curiously and saw a completely rotten corpse with half a skeleton and half a human face standing right behind her. She was so scared that she almost jumped to her feet and screamed uncontrollably.
Hearing the scream, the last zombie, who had just left the door, slowly turned around.
Zoe covered the girl’s mouth with one hand.
They huddled together and looked in horror at the quiet corpse in front of them.
The corpse didn’t move. It looked like it had long been dead.
The little girl shivered in Zoe’s arms. Zoe hugged her tight. She didn’t release her until Jason, who was hiding behind the door and looking out, winked at them and hinted that it was all-clear.
The little girl was exhausted and leaned against Zoe. She was still staring at the half human face in front of her with some trepidation.
She didn’t relax until Zoe pulled a piece of cloth from one side and draped it over the corpse.
“It’s alright,” Zoe said as she caressed the little girl’s head to soothe her nerves. “Don’t be afraid. It’ll be all right.”
Zoe was very young. She looked like she was 23 or 24, but she had a strong maternal instinct when faced with the little girl. Even in such a strange and dangerous place, she was willing to protect an unknown child who had suddenly appeared. She was very gentle when speaking to her, which seemed out of tune with her alternative outfit.
Jason silently looked at Zoe’s side profile, feeling the warmth in her heart.
Zoe asked the little girl, “My name is Zoe. What's your name?”
The little girl was wearing a dress that no longer showed its true colors, and her shoes had long been missing. However, the small dinosaur doll in her arms was completely intact. It wasn't dirty at all except for a little blood which had splashed on top of its head.
Being tenderly questioned and looked at by the pretty woman, the little girl rubbed her dirty feet, which were covered with mud and wounds, against each other with embarrassment before whispering something.
“My name is Lily.”
“Lily, can you tell me what this place is? Why are there so many zombies? Where are your parents?” asked Zoe.
There was no doubt that Zoe regarded this place as a real world. If she wanted to unlock the secret of Monopoly, she would have to learn more things from the local people.
“You’re not from around here, I can tell,” Lily said. “This place is called City L."
Zoe and Jason were both astonished. “City L?” They looked at each other at the same time, and their surprised eyes showed that they were thinking the same thing.
This city was called City L, just like the one Jason and Zoe had come from.
Jason had felt a strange feeling about this city. A feeling that became stronger when he heard Lily’s words.
Lily said there had been an outbreak of flu in the city a month before, but no one paid attention to it and the government didn’t take it seriously. It was only when the number of people dying from the flu started to rise and the news said that dead were crawling out of their graves and killing cemetery workers that things started to change.
At first, the horrific news only spread on the Internet and some netizens denounced some of the gruesome photos of the deaths as fake. After all, the Internet was full of fake news, and the gory stuff wasn't enough to attract everyone’s attention, so the incident remained overlooked.
Nothing changed until a more outrageous event happened in full view of the public.
