Chapter 3

Jasmine's Pov. My feet barely touched the ground as my arms pumped into my sides, sweat slid down my face, stinging my eyes as I panted heavily. I continued running, unfamiliar with the school's ground, my eyes caught a building that was abandoned, there was a staircase that led down to it, I ran straight down. I stopped to catch a breath, I was almost out of air, as I strained my ears to listen if I was being followed. Only then did my nerves calm down. “What are you doing here?” A voice called from the shadowy building. I shrieked loudly, my heart almost jumping out of my chest, this time it was beating triple the usual way. The person came out to the sun, a stick of cigar dangling in his lips. Unlike the other guy, this one was wearing the school's uniform, but with the buttons undone half way up, revealing his muscular body. He was of average height, jet black hair and silver orbs that just keeps one enchanted, I found myself gaping at his bare chest. For a person that smokes, he has the cutest lips ever. “I asked a question.” He snapped his fingers in front of me, smoke from his cigar curling in the air. I was still breathing heavily, “I didn't know anyone was here, I didn't mean to interrupt.” I apologized. He gave me a look that said, ‘I don't believe you.” “Did the principal send you to spy on me?” “What, hell no?” What was he even saying, I haven't even met the principal today, just that he doesn't know so. I understood his worries, smoking wasn't allowed in the academy, I read it in the school's rule book. He probably thought I would rat him out to the authorities, when in truth, I don't actually give two hoots. He relaxed a bit, seeing that I was no danger to him. “I haven't seen you around before, are you new?” I nodded, I wasn't ready to make any friends, and my first friend would definitely not be a guy smoking in an abandoned shadowy building. I strapped my backpack. “I have to go now.” “Hold on,” he blocked me from moving forward. “I didn't get your name.” I didn't want any trouble with him, so I just told him. “That's a pretty name, my name's Bolton Harlow, but you can just call me Bolton.” I smile, that would not be hard to remember. “You promise not to tell anyone about this place, it's kind of my secret and special hideout.” “Promise.” I said mounting up the stairs. I needed to get to class quickly, as I made my way to class, I kept whispering in my heart not to bump into Aidan or his bitchy Queen Amara. Fortunately for me, we didn't have any class together, but most of the students were those who witnessed the show from the morning. They kept pointing at me and whispering. I rolled my eyes, “Grow up already.” I almost yelled. It was time for recess, and everyone moved to the school cafeteria, still no sign of my enemies yet. I wished it would continue that way till the end of school hours. I collected my lunch, and went to find a table. Every table I went to was abandoned, no one wanted to associate with me. I sighed reluctantly as I sat on a lonely table. A shadow cast across my single table, and I looked up, it was Bolton from earlier. “Why are you alone, no friends yet?” He asked me, coming around to sit beside me. “I prefer to be alone.” I muttered. “Really? Sorry about that, but I can't leave you to be alone.” He smelled really nice now, he no longer had the smell of cigar hovering around him, he must have gone to freshen up before attending classes. I must say he is really charming, and extremely good looking too, between him and the jerk from earlier, I can't really say who got the win in the handsome department. Bolton didn't touch his food, instead he kept his eyes fixed on me. “I didn't really look at you properly, you are quite a beauty, with a stunning figure.” He complimented me. “Thank you.” I murmured. Not everyday I get compliments from a handsome guy who attends a prestigious academy. Suddenly, I sensed his hand on my hair, he tucked a strand behind my ear, his lips closed, I could feel his lips tingle my earlobe. “Why don't you come over to my secret place later, I will treat you to some of my things you were staring at.” I moved away in disgust, Bolton smacked his lips at me, my hand with a mind of its own delivered him a deafening slap, making everyone at the cafeteria turn to us. Bolton was as shocked as I am, I didn't even think before slapping him, he stood up furiously, embarrassment washed over him. I knew I had triggered something in him, he slapped my tray of food away from the table, while I jerked backwards. I was in deep s**t for the second time the same day. “How dare you hit me.” Bolton thundered. His look was more threatening than Aidan's, I swallowed a huge lump in my throat. I tried to back away, but my legs were too weak to move, cold sweat dropped from my forehead. “I'll make you pay for this, your life will be a living hell.” He growled as he raised his hands. I covered my face, expecting a lethal blow to come on me when I heard the sweetest voice ever. “Let her go Bolton, go practice your brawl somewhere else.” I dared to peek between the hands that covered my face. Then I saw him, the most gentle and angelic face ever. With a flaming red hair that framed his face, with cherry coloured lips to match. He was tall and totally breathtaking for someone with such gentle looks. ‘What are these guys made of?’ I almost shouted.
