The missing luna

Chapter 6.

Ronald got to Sophia's house some minutes after her foster parent arrived. Sophia's dad opened the door for him with a surprised look on his face.

"Good afternoon Ronald. I was not expecting you to see you here given that I would be seeing you this night before." He said before he opened the door widely for Ronald to enter.

"It's okay uncle. I am just here to see Sophia." Ronald replied him.

He had always called him uncle since he knew Sophia. His name was Eric but he decided to call him uncle. He had always hoped she would become his Luna because of the way she attends to matters. It was not too bad that she was his sister, he thought.

"Hope all is well? You sound a bit off." Eric said to Ronald.

Ronald has seen the way they take care of Sophia because she was the only one they had after her brother which was their child got murdered by the rogues. He was worried about how they would feel if they know that the Alpha would take their baby girl from them this night.

"Nothing. Just on a little matter." Ronald replied Eric.

Ronald entered and met Sophia washing her foster mother's feet while her mother told her all they went through at the neighboring village when they traveled. He has always called her mother since he lost his own at a tender age but her name was Delilah.

"Good afternoon mother," Ronald greeted her.

Delilah turned back and saw Ronald. She had always welcomed him in their house even though they've not found her son's dead body. It has been a pain to her to lose her only son that she gave birth to herself but she knew that the Alpha and his son are not to be blamed. They are also trying their best to find the body of her son.

"Evening my child. How are you doing today?" Delilah replied to him.

"I'm fine Ma. I am here to speak to Anna, please. Can I see her in private for some minutes?" Ronald begged Delilah.

Delilah had a bad feeling about this. She could not pinpoint what it was but it gave her the feeling of when she loosed her child. She did not want to go through losing another child. Eric must have read her mind as he moved closer to her and held her hand.

"Sure. Don't make it long, as you see we have a lot to gist about." Delilah said.

Ronald smiled at her before Sophia led him to their kitchen. It was neither big nor too small, just an average kitchen for a family of three, that will become two soon, Ronald thought.

"So what are you here for?" Sophia asked him.

"You must have known that we are holding a ceremony this evening. Father wants you to be there as he would announce to the whole pack that you are his child. He has invited both your parents to be there also." Ronald said gauging Sophia's reaction.

Sophia was not the least surprised. She has expected this to come since she went to meet him this morning but she was not expecting this to come soon. She has witnessed multiple deaths of the people of the park by these wolf rogues that seem to never have an ending.

"Okay. I shall be there. Is that all you have to say to me?" Sophia asked Ronald.

Ronald was already used to her nonchalant attitude. This was what made her different from the other girls in the pack.

"Yes, that would be all for now," Ronald said.

They both left the kitchen, Sophia walking in the front before Ronald. They got to the sitting room and met Delilah painting her nails. She looked up as she heard footsteps.

"Ahh Ronald, Eric was just telling me you have a ceremony this evening and we are invited. Is this in any way related to my daughter?" Delilah asked.

"Maybe mother, you shall know when you get there. I would be taking my leave now." Ronald said before bowing down a little to them.

"Okay son, Sophia, you should walk him out," Delilah said before continuing with what she was doing before.

Sophia walked Ronald to the door before she turned back.

"See you tonight, my lady," Ronald said to her.

He would not miss any opportunity to tease her. He went back home to take a nap before getting up for the ceremony in the evening. He has just gotten into his room when a maid came to meet him that his father has sent for him. Ronald was exasperated. He has not become an Alpha yet and he was already been stressed out. What more could it be when he became the Alpha. He dressed up and went to meet his father in the study room. He took his seat after bowing down curtly to his father.

"I sent for you son because I just remembered you need to pick a beta in front of the park today. Who do you want to pick?" His father asked him.

Ronald has thought about it before but he has not concluded. He was not sure who to pick between his childhood friend that was slightly older than him or Sophia's foster father that he has looked up to apart from his father since when he was a kid.

"I have thought about it father. I have not decided on who to pick yet." Ronald said to his father.

"Okay, anyone you pick. Make sure you pick them wisely." His father said.

"Okay pa," Ronald said before leaving the room.

Ronald went to his room to take a nap before the ceremony began. Although he has not picked a beta in his mind. He was going to rest first before doing that. Maybe with a clear mind, he would be able to pick one. It was going to be a long night.
