Chapter 4

Carmen Pov

I realize my mobile vibrating in my purse and I pick my purse and check the message it’s from some unknown number. When I open the message it’s from Betty, suddenly I feel I was smiling wide. I text her back and wait for her response and it didn’t take that long and we keep texting each other. Even after reaching a hospital I couldn’t stop smiling & head towards to grab a coffee. I was so much distracted that I didn’t see Mr. Smith was standing beside me and looking towards me, till the time he taps on my shoulder to gain my attention. I look at him awkwardly to ignore his smirking smile which clearly shows that he understands already that I am having a conversation with someone special.

“So, someone special you are talking right now?” he asked smilingly

“Hmm no just chatting with my friend actually,” I said shyly clearly not convinced with my own reply

“Well there is no need to hide but if I can wait for your reply,” he said with smiling face and left from there

Robert Smith, is not very old actually he clearly has good physics and good abs that any girl can fall from him. He is around 6.1 feet with dark brown hairs and light brown eyes, I was amazed to know that he wasn’t actually married yet neither he dating anyone. That was actually shocking but he is very rich and also has a good personality and has a calm nature. He was very friendly to me on the first day but also very focused on his work.

After finishing my coffee I get back to work and check my all assigned patients. On the other hand, Betty also keeps messaging me whenever she got time and I also reply as much as I can to get her attention. She keeps sending me some jokes and also asks a lot about my work, hobbies, and family which is kind of cute.

Since I shifted here I was planning to buy the new car, well I used to drive my dad car but now I have enough money and I also sold my old car before shifting here so I decided to ask Betty to join me on a weekend if she has time. Fact is I want to spend more time with her personally. She was happy to join me and we fix the schedule to go with each other.

Days passed so fast I didn’t realize today I need to go with Betty to buy a car. Well frankly I was more excited to spend time with Betty then compare to buy a car. I text her to meet me near café and start looking for the dress to wear. I got ready after taking shower and start putting my makeup till the time I saw my phone is vibrating and I pick the call. It was Betty she was already near the café so I told her to wait for 10 minutes. Before leaving the house I check myself one more time and grab the keys and purse and lock the house.

Within 5 minutes I was near the café when I look around to find Betty she was sitting on the bench. I walk towards her but when I came closer to her she was looking stunning and my jaw instantly drops. She was wearing a pink top with matching earrings and tight skinny black jeans and her hairs are open. She looks totally different I mean it’s not like she doesn’t look beautiful in that café dress but today she was looking amazing. She is wearing light makeup which enhances her beauty. She looks simple but still stunning that anyone can look at her once at least.

Once she notices me she smiles brightly and gets up from seat to hug me. It was kind of shocking but in a nice way actually. I smiled at her and hug her too so that she doesn’t feel awkward but I can see she already get embarrassed by her sudden hug. But what can I say I can’t complain about it so I let it be and grab her hand to catch a cab.

Once I buy my car and do all the documentation I realized we were so late and I felt hungry enough. I suggest Betty come for the lunch with me and she happily agreed for the same. Once we sit in the car I felt like Betty was quite but I ignored her and took her to my favorite restaurant. When I handed her menu she was feeling very awkward so I couldn’t control myself to ask her the reason.

“Anything happened you were very quiet actually?” I said softly

“Hmm well no nothing I am fine.” She said ignoring eye contact

“Please tell me what happened I can’t stand with the fact that something is bothering you, so please tell me what happened to you?” I said sternly

“W…well I am not rich like you Carmen neither I can afford this entire thing nor when you were paying I realized I am not good enough for you at all,” she said sadly

Suddenly I felt the guilty, of course, she was feeling all this because she couldn’t able to afford all this because of her family problems but I didn’t realize that she must be feeling very awkward at that time. I grab her both hands and look at her so that she can understand I really like her. Well, Betty let me tell you straight I really like you since the first day I met you, I really don’t care whether you are rich or poor or whatever I liked you and I want you not your money at all. So never think that I will leave you because you don’t have the money or any other reason.

She looks at me with little-tearing eyes and smiling face, presses my hands little tightly. She didn’t speak anything but I can see she was feeling lighter now and comfortable with me. Once our food arrives we start eating and talk to each other more. Later I offer her to drop her in-house which she accepts with smiling face. Once we reach her house I notice she lives in the tiny apartment, that’s why maybe she was feeling so awkward earlier but I try to make her more comfortable from now. Before leaving the car she comes closer to me for goodbye hug and I accept it. But then she kissed my cheeks very near to my lips and left the car without looking once.
