My Baby

456 Words
A newborn's cry echoed in Veronica's room. The room was filled with a baby's cry and whimpers. Veronica cradled a little white bundle in her arms. She was sweaty, exhausted, but a large smile was plastered on her face. Her parents sat beside her on the bed, admiring the little bundle in their daughter's arms. They were all smiley too—Vero the most. Veronica made promises silently in her heart. She was going to do everything and anything in her power to fulfill all of the promises she had made for her baby. Is this how being a mother feels like? she asked herself silently. At the moment, she felt like just going on rampage to do anything for her baby. If anyone—she meant anyone—went against her baby, she was going to teach that person a lesson. It had only been a few minutes since her bouncy baby boy arrived in her world but she's been feeling all kinds of emotions she couldn't fanthom. Love, admiration and a whole lot of emotions were bulging in her heart. She stared into her baby's grey eyes. His eyes were wide open, staring back at the beautiful face above him as if he were in a trance. He was very hairy and his hair was pitch black. He looked very handsome with his siren eyes. Those eyes were very catchy and caught everyone off guard. Mandy entered Vero's room where she had just delivered. Mandy walked over and immediately took the baby from Vero's arms. She did it carefully and so swiftly it caught Vero off guard. How silly she thought. Mandy rocked the little bundle in her arms and whispered something to the baby only she could here. He blinked a couple of times as if trying to contemplate the sudden change of face above him. " look at the eyes, awww" Mandy cooed. Veronica sat there staring at Mandy, lost in her own thoughts. She took note of her baby's physical appearance. Her baby was hirsute, had grey siren eyes and others she was yet to discover. Could it be that those are the genetic traits of the donor? Hmm... she could only sigh. Her brain felt helpless every time she remembered that her baby is going to grow up without a father. Would raising a baby boy without a father be that pliable? She prayed silently that may heavens and the good spirits would guide her as she raised this baby boy of hers. "What are you gonna name him?" her mother asked, jolting her awake from her reverie. Vero sat there quietly for a brief second before she said "Mmmm..." She halted then said proudly but quietly "Jedidiah Kylie Howard"
