POV Ace
I was standing there with my two betas, talking about the construction of the pack house when it hit me. I could feel Max pushing forward at the sweet scent of lily ginger and he knew.
“Mine!” he grunted, “Jason! Lucas! Get back to the pack and wait for me there. I’ll be back in a little bit.” I shifted and took off after the smell. I walked around sniffing at the ground and lifting my head every so often to stiff the air.
POV Alina
“Lily, he’s coming right towards us, we have to go! Now!” I started pushing forward as Lily whimpered and let me take over. I took off back towards her cabin and started thinking about the current situation.
“We’re going to have to run again Lily. We can’t enter that world again. He could find us and try and take us. We can’t go back.” I said speaking to Lily.
“But he’s our mate, he could protect us.” Lily said whimpering wanting to go to her mate.
“We can’t Lily. You know that. Entering back into the wolf world would mean opening up the door for Drystan to find us. What if he tries to claim us? He could take us away from him and not think twice about it.” I responded with terror in her voice.
“I think he’s an alpha though. Drystan is just a beta. He can protect us!” Lily answered more aggressively this time.
“You don’t know that Lily!” Alina said fighting back. I kept running at full speed until I couldn’t anymore. Two acres is a lot to run, especially when you haven’t really had any type of training to do so. Once I felt that I had put enough distance in between me and my mystery mate I slowed down and felt that it was safe enough for me to just walk the rest of the way home. Immediately Lily started nagging at me again.
POV Ace
I followed the scent until it got really strong and stopped. I knew that my mate was just beyond this small bit of brush. I decided to not approach right away even though Maximus was pushing me to.
“Max, I don’t want to scare her. What if she takes off?” I said trying to calm him down.
“But I just want to see her! Please get a little closer!” Maximus responded excitedly. I lifted my head over the brush to see if I could see her or not. I couldn’t at first but then she came out from behind a tree and my heart started pounding. She was a beautiful light grey wolf that had small highlights throughout her fur. She was just strutting by and it took everything in me not to approach her.
“Mine.” Maximus said proudly and then I could hear him howling loudly in the back of my head.
“Max, I can’t hear if you keep doing that!” I growled and he stopped immediately. She was panting profusely. How was she this tired. This isn’t that long of a run. I decided to approach her slowly. I stepped out from behind the brush and she looked up at me quickly. I could see fear in her bright blue eyes so I took it slow. I decided to lay on my belly to show that I wasn’t a threat. I slowly crawled towards her and she reached her nose out and sniffed me. As we sniffed each other there was crackling from behind me. I turned around to see what it was and realized that it was Jason. I stood up and turned to look at her and she took off.
POV Alina
“I told you Lily! I told you not to stop. Why did you push me back? What is wrong with you?” I was yelling at Lily inside of my head and she was whimpering with every word I said.
“I just wanted to see him and smell him. I’m sorry Alina!” She was full on whimpering at this point and I couldn’t help but feel sad as well. His wolf was beautiful. He was a pure black wolf with bright green eyes. The only flaw he had in his fur was a small light brown patch on the tip of his right ear.
“I know Lily. I hate to admit it, but so did I. But you have to underst…” and just like that I saw him again. He jumped right out of the trees and tackled me to the ground. He grabbed me by my scruff and pulled me on my side. I tried to get up, but I couldn’t. His wolf was some much bigger than Lily and towered over us.
