Chapter 13

Lucas

I held Val after her nightmare and felt bad about everything she had been through with losing her mom. It kept swirling in the back of my head, "she doesn't know about our kind and that she is one." What did he mean when he said that? How could she not? At 13 your wolf comes to you and speaks to you. You can't control the change on the full moon after your 13th birthday, and then have to learn how to control the shift. Which doesn't always go well for some people.

"I'll call Max tomorrow. Maybe he can shed some light on things?" I heard Val say. "Tonight, I just want to be with you."

"Sounds good to me” I told her.

"Are you getting hungry?" Do you want pizza or something? " Val asked. "Or do you want to go back out for another meal?"

"Pizza is great and we don't have to go back out unless you want to baby?" I told her.

Val got up and headed to the bathroom. I took the opportunity to link Damien with "we've got a problem”. I linked him

"What's the problem? Damien linked back

"Do we have some random solo wolf living out here named Max? “ I linked back

"Uhhh, now that you mention it, I've seen a Max on reports, but have no idea who he is." Damien responded.

"Bigger problem! He's a wolf, knows I'm here and says something about Val being one and not knowing it!" I growled back at him.

"Wait what?" Damien questioned.

"Seriously dude, and if I had to guess, she's close to wanting to, you know, and I can't just do that without her knowing what I am and what that means!" I linked back.

"Okay, okay, a lot to digest. I'll have Dy text her and see if we can do brunch, and then you're going to have to come clean with her at some point here." Damien said.

"Also, rogues are getting closer to her small town." He linked back

Val walked in so I ended the link. "Watcha thinking? " She asked.

"How beautiful you are. “ I told her as she stood there with her strawberry blonde hair pulled up into a messy bun, t-shirt and pajama bottoms, even in just that she was breathtaking.

"Whatever!" She responded, "what do you want on your pizza?"

I grabbed her and she tried to squirm away from me for a second until I started kissing her neck and then she relaxed into me.

"We should just mate and mark her now". Gavin was yelling in my head.

"It doesn't work that way! She has a choice", I yelled back at him.

Val giggled as I let her go. "I like anything on pizza, just not a fan of super-hot peppers or pineapple." I told her.

" So Supreme OK? Want a pizza and bread sticks? " She asked.

"Sounds great! Did you want to find a movie to watch? " I asked.

"Well, we still have the one from the other night". She reminded me

"Haha oh yeah” I responded

I went into the bathroom to splash water on my face and try and think about what to do. I heard through the door "Dy just texted me and wants to know if we want to do brunch or something tomorrow? What do you think? “ She asked.

"Sounds good to me. Are you available? “ I asked her.

"I should be able to make that work. Maybe I can see Max tomorrow too." She said, walking away.

"I hope she can, or we can, so we can get answers." I thought to myself.

The pizza arrived shortly thereafter and we finished our movie from the other night. Val seemed relaxed and tense all at the same time.

"You okay baby?" I asked as the movie finished.

"Yeah" She said hesitantly.

"Come on, what's going on in that pretty head of yours?" I asked.

"Well, I told you I've never, and I didn't want you to be disappointed if that doesn't happen with you staying the night." She blushed and looked down

I held my finger under her chin and made her look at me. " I could never be disappointed in just getting to hold you all night." I told her, which was true other than Gavin screaming in my head.

"Besides, with my people when that happens, it's a.." I paused and had to think how to say this, " a life-long commitment". I said

"Oh! In the cult?" She said as she giggled.

"Yes" I replied, smiling back at her. I hoped that would ease the tension a little.

Then Val held out a hand to me, and I obligingly followed. I laid down, and she curled up next to me, as we both slowly drifted off to sleep.

I woke up just as my neck was being snapped in my dream. There was something rock hard next to me, Lucas! Thank goodness I didn't wake him. I curled back up next to him and took in his pine scent, and slowly drifted back to sleep. An hour later, I was sitting back up, sweating, only this time I did wake him. "I'm sorry. Go back to sleep", I told him.

"I will as long as you come with me" he said. Wrapping his big arms around me.

"Well, I wasn't planning on going anywhere else," I told him.

I lay there mindlessly running my fingers across his chest and abs, when he grabbed my hand, placing it under his on his chest. "I don't think you want to go much further south", Lucas chuckled at me.

"Oh! Sorry I wasn't even thinking", I said, embarrassed.

I looked at the clock, and I needed to get up and go over to the Cafe.

"I have to head to the Cafe, you're welcome to stay here or come with me." I told him as I was trying to climb over this enormous mountain of a man.

He grabbed me and then placed me on top of him, kissing me, and I could feel his rock hard manhood poking me in the backside.

I giggled as he finally released me, giving me that coy smile, as I walked to my closet to find clothes for the day. I grabbed some jeans and a tank top and a button-down shirt. I would grab a sweater to go over that when I got out of the shower.

I threw my hair into a French braid before leaving the bathroom. When I made it out of the bathroom, Lucas was dressed in the same clothes as yesterday, but he still looked and smelled fantastic. I've never known a man that smelled so alluring of pine and that fresh mountain air. He smiled at me, and said "You look beautiful."

I've never had anyone make me blush as much as this man. "Thank you", I told him.

He came up to me and wrapped his arms around me and said "I'm going to run home and change clothes, and then meet you, Damien and Dy for brunch, if that's OK?"

"I suppose" I said with a pouty face and before I could smile at him, he had hold of my bottom lip with his lips pulling me in for a kiss. He grabbed me around the waist, lifting me up and then bouncing me slightly as he grabbed my ass, as I wrapped my arms around his neck. When we tasted every inch of each others mouths before we released each other from the kiss. We were both breathless as he placed his forehead against mine.

"I better leave now, or I won't be able to control myself l and you'll be stuck with me forever", he said, making a scary face.

"Well, that wouldn't be the worst thing" I said, slowly sliding down him and feeling his soldier standing at attention.

"Oh really ? Better not start things you don't want to finish, baby", he said before giving me a peck on the cheek before heading out the door.

I headed over to the Cafe, after waving goodbye to Lucas as he pulled away.

Lucas

I watched Val as I pulled away and headed to the packhouse. Wow, that was close, I thought to myself. Gavin had almost taken control this morning and luckily I could reign him in. I drove to a nearby forest preserve that had a parking lot. I had to run this morning, and let Gavin out. Maybe that would help him be more patient.

I parked my car, and started to strip down as I linked Damien "I'm on my way back, I'm going to let Gavin out to run. I'll have you guys drop me off at my car later."

Damien responded "see you when you get here."

I tied my clothes and phone to my leg, shifted, and started for the packhouse.

I was back within an hour, and the whole run Gavin and I were at odds. "We shouldn't have left, mate." Gavin whined.

"We'll see her in a few hours, just relax" I told him.

"I want to talk to her, maybe she'll let me mate." Gavin said.

"Not going to happen, she doesn't know you exist yet. We can't just push the mating if she doesn't know ." I told him again.

Damien met me at the pack house, "So what were you trying to tell me last night?" He asked.

"Let me get cleaned up and I'll meet you in my office. " I told him.

I ran up to my room and showered and grabbed clothes for a couple days just in case. I headed to my office where Damien and Dy were. I glared at Damien, "we need a woman's perspective" he said.

Dy chimed in, "I like her, and you need to not mess this up."

"I agree," I said.

I laid out all that had happened with Max, Val's nightmares, and my worry about telling her since the subject of s*x had come up a couple times.

They both looked defeated, and Damien finally spoke up "wow, and I thought finding a mate was hard ".

"Gee thanks! What do I do?" I asked.

Dy spoke up "you have to tell her, and then be prepared that she won't believe you and want you to leave."

I put my head in my hands, and rubbed the back of my neck. "I almost lost control this morning, I don't know how much longer I can take", I told them.

"Then tell her today." Dy said.

"Sooner the better ", Damien added.

"Ugh. Let's go!" I responded
