Emily Rose's point of view.
They were both sweating and in pain as they lay in my bed. This went horribly wrong.
How should I assist them? How should I proceed?
Brion had all of Matt's blood in him. His chest appeared to be in better condition; there were no signs of silver, and the stitches were holding and not melting as they had previously.
But why are not any of them awake? At least one of them should be awake now!
Think about it, lady! You have to be able to do it!
I was pacing around in front of my queen-size bed. I could call Dr. Mawllod, but what would I tell him? That they were probably both dying right now?
Nate was also not an option. Because of his Alpha sickness, he was terrified like a small child.
None of my hospital colleagues, nor any of my friends, were able to assist me. I was the only one here.
Then it struck me. Twins! They are identical twins!!
They spent their entire lives together in their mother's womb. They had a strange mind connection as well as magical abilities. Their wolves were also siblings. They required a physical link. Touch. Even in this state, a simple touch could bring them new power.
I climbed into bed. Brion stood to my left, and Matt stood to my right. I gently grasped Matt's palm in mine. It was hot. He jerked and tried to pull his hand away from mine, but I was holding him tightly.
Brion experienced the same thing. He refused to let me touch him. They did not have a choice.
When I put their hands together, I screamed and almost fell out of bed because of what I saw. Fire appeared where their fingers came into contact. It was only for a split second before it vanished. I was not sure if I even saw it. However, the same thing happened with ice. Their hands had become immobilised. I began shaking and panting furiously.
What if they perish? f**k!
Rope replaced ice in an instant. It appeared to be a thick thread. It wrapped around their linked fingers and reached their palms. I was scared. I have never seen magic in action.
God! I have never been a believer in magic!
They were linked until their wrists were completely covered. The thread then vanished. As if nothing had happened. On their forearms, only a small mark remained. It appeared to be flame, but I was not sure. I could not look because I was too upset.
I bolted from my room. I could not stay there any longer. What I had witnessed terrified me.
Nothing made any sense any longer.
Nothing has been the same since I discovered a wolf in the woods yesterday. Outside, there was a whole supernatural world that no one knew about. Werewolves, witches, and who knows what else!
How should I proceed with my life now? With what I know?
I had no idea I was in the woods, in the same spot where I had discovered Brion dying. It had only been sixteen hours, but my life had turned upside down. Everything I had previously believed had been destroyed.
I looked down at my trembling hands. These hands saved many lives, human lives. I was striving to be the best that I could be. For what purpose? If one of them died, these would be the killer's hands!
I started all of this nonsense. Perhaps some of their doctors can come up with a better solution. Why were they paying attention to me? Why did not Matt abduct his brother? I am only a human!!
Fuck, f**k, f**k!
I wanted to sob uncontrollably. I was desperate and heartbroken. I most likely killed both of them.
I had not been lying on the wet ground long when I heard footsteps behind me. I quickly stood up and turned around to see a magnificent black wolf in front of me. I was not scared.
What could possibly go wrong? He might be able to eat me.
The wolf approached me and nuzzled his nose into my palm. His actions took me by surprise.
He was almost the same height as me when he raised his head. Brion as a wolf was even larger and more friendly. This was a monster. His brown eyes nearly burned a hole in me.
How did I come across these orbs?
He c****d his head slightly towards the cabin. He approached from that direction.
And why am I thinking of him in the third person? Because what I am seeing is a f*****g werewolf! That is the reason.
I nearly slapped myself. I sighed and wiped my cheeks. I had to return to them. A black wolf waited patiently for me to regain my composure. When I thought of Brion's white wolf, a small smile formed on my lips. He was breathtaking. He also shared Brion's eyes.
Wait!!
I jerked my head to the right to peer into the irises of the black wolf.
"Matt!" I squealed while covering my mouth with my hands. The beast's eyes were the same as they had been in his human form. He was irritated.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, burying my face in his soft fur. Tears streamed down my cheeks. One of them was still alive. But why had he come to me disguised as a wolf?
After nearly a minute, I put some space between us. I laughed as he licked my face.
It was extremely wet and unsuitable.
"Brion?" I inquired in a frail voice, anxious for an answer. I followed him as he turned his head towards the cabin.
Nothing had changed on the inside. I had no idea what to expect. There was a broken couch or some overturned furniture, but everything was in its proper place.
I entered the bedroom. Brion remained pale and sweaty on the bed. He did not budge an inch. I was about to cry again. I sat on the edge of the bed and took his hand in mine. He took a deep breath, but then remained motionless. Matt was standing behind me. He was so massive that he almost could not move inside my room. He did, however, take a few steps towards the bed and poked his nose into my stomach.
"You want something," I grumbled. He nodded, much to my surprise. What!?!?
"H-how..."?" I stumbled. The wolf gives another annoyed expression. s**t!
"OK," I said, standing up, "what do you want?"
I raised an eyebrow as he lightly poked Brion's hand.
"He is not awake. Perhaps he is in a coma," I suggested.
He did it once more. When I poked him, he put his big paw on the bed.
"f**k, I don't get it," I cried.
