Chapter 10.

DREY’S POV

I’m happy I could share my past with Jacqueline and that I was not judged or avoided because of it. I don't know what the future entails, but I hope this peace and joy never change.

The phone's sound brings me out of my thoughts and into reality. I picked up, not bothering to check who was calling. " Hello?”

“Long time no see my friend”, I had this sense of familiarity when this stranger spoke. I’m here trying to figure out who the person is until he breaks the silence.

“Drey Dankworth Macmiller, it is smart of you to hide. But how long do you plan on doing that? Anyway, I came visiting, and trust me it was quite easy tracking you down. Imagine how it'll be for Mr Anderson”.

“I’m on my way”, I said then I hung up.

It seems like the worst is about to happen. I need to go back home. What if Daniella is back home, and she's in danger? But this person did not sound like he works for Mr. Anderson. Then who could this be?

Jacqueline noticed I was worried and asked what was wrong but I just told her I needed to go home.

“Okay let's go then” Then she got up from my lap and was pulling me towards the car's direction.

I needed to go home but not with her. I don't want to put her in unnecessary danger but I could not come up with any convincing excuse as to why she shouldn't come back home with me.

We got to the car, then Jacqueline drove us back to my place.

I was sweating so bad even though the car’s air conditioning was on. I did not know what or who was waiting for me at home. On getting there I rushed out of the car with Jacqueline following suit.

I met Bob standing at the entrance, it seemed like he was waiting for me.

“Bob, why would you let a stranger into my house?” I said angrily, Then I heard a masculine voice respond “Stranger? No brother we are blood. It is such a shame you can't recall who I am.”

At this time he was standing right in front of me and I'm still trying to figure out who he is. “And if I may ask who are you?”

“I’m Luke..Luke Moore”

My eyes widened in shock. I am both surprised and scared. Luke noticed and he walked towards me then placed his hands on my shoulder.

“Hey don't give me that look I'm not here to harm you. Instead, I'm here to save your ass again because what are friends for? Let go in and talk more”

I was too puzzled to speak or introduce Jacqueline, but we all went in regardless. It was when we got to the living room that he noticed Jacqueline.

“Drey, who is she to you? Your girlfriend?” Luke asked out of curiosity.

I never for once thought Luke would be standing right in front of me in my living room. I don't think I can trust him. And now he is asking who Jacqueline is to me, I can't say she is my girlfriend even if I want to. I don't need anyone knowing about my personal matters.

“She’s not my girlfriend” These words hurt me as they rolled off my tongue. I looked towards Jaqueline and she looked hurt too. But I've not asked her out so I don't think I can call her that.

Jacqueline then went upstairs.

“Luke what exactly do you want?” I asked sternly

“Bro are you sure she is free or off limits?” Luke asked but I was already upset and I angrily warned him to stay away from her.

“Drey chill, I was just joking and anyway it seems like you like her so why not just date her?”

“You don't think it's too early for you to throw in any advice. Why are you here Luke?” Now I’m irritated.

“I miss us bro and if anyone should be upset here, it's me. We were really good friends, why would you fake your death, even if you want to do so why cut me off? Anyway I’m here to inform you that you might be in danger. Mr Anderson was tipped off that you are still alive and mind you, he won’t stop until you are gone for sure. I got to know because a friend of mine secretly dated one of them. I honestly don't know how and when but now they know.”

On hearing this I was trying to process all he had said. It has been years now and I don't know how and why he is keen on having me killed.

“They are very welcome now because i’m no longer the same old Drey that I used to be”.
