Sophie
Happiness filled my heart when Robin hired me as his new secretary.
Somehow, on my first day of work, he didn't allow me to do much work. He just suggested that I head home and prepare for the coming work in the future, which is in two days’ time according to him.
"I guess this will be great for me afterwards." I smiled while relaxing at my apartment, preparing for the work my new boss has for me.
"And people said the company is strict. It's those interviewers that are making it feel that way." I chuckled, thinking of Robin.
"He's a nice guy. I can't wait to start fully with him," I said.
When the two days was off, I came over to the office to start my work with Robin fully.
I met the CEO in his office, staring out through the window like one who is lost in thoughts or something.
When I knocked on the door to make myself known, he turned around and gave me a strange smile.
"Just the lady I've been waiting for. Come in," He invited.
I stepped in, greeting Robin, and also reminding him of the job he said we'll be starting.
Needed to show him that I am indeed fit for the job.
"I haven't forgotten, Sophie. That's why I was waiting for you to turn up so we could begin," He said, pointing out to the seat opposite his desk, suggesting I sit.
I did as he wanted, as he stood beside me.
"So, what is the job about sir?" I asked, noticing how his desk was free of files and other documents.
"Your work is simple. I want you to steal something for me."
"Steal?" I uttered in shock, finding Robin's assignment to be strange.
"Is this a prank sir? " I asked, letting out a smile. But Robin wasn't smiling nor was he joking.
He meant what he said.
"You want me to steal for you?" I asked, feeling my heart beating.
Like he could read my fear, he said, "What you're stealing belongs to me, so you shouldn't be afraid."
He walked back to the window and explained, " There's a company that has been holding on to something that belongs to me for years. I've been trying to get it back, but the CEO wouldn't make it easy for me."
Facing me, Robin said, "I want you to get it back for me, Sophie. You'll head over to that company and act like a staff. Draw closer to the CEO and take back what belongs to me. And when you do, I will make you a millionaire."
"A millionaire?" My eyes came widening on hearing Robin's offer.
Is he serious about this?
"Will you do this, Sophie? This is a once in a life time opportunity." Robin sat on the desk in front of me. His hand caressing my cheek while waiting for a response.
I thought about this plan of his and told myself, " It's his file. He just wants it back. If I can get it, I'll be a millionaire and secure my future, start my business and all that."
I looked at Robin, who had his brow lifted at me, waiting for my response.
Like he said, it's a once in a life time opportunity. I sighed and agreed to the plan.
A smile crept across Robin's face. He patted me on the shoulder and said, "Good. You start tomorrow. You can head home and relax again. Don't worry about your pay, I've got you covered."
"Em... Which company exactly, sir?" I asked, realizing that Robin didn't give me a name.
Rising from the desk and walking towards a cabinet, Robin answered, " Dreamscape."
"Dreamscape?" I was stunned at once.
Dreamscape is my ex husband's company!
He stole from Robin?
"No, that can't be possible. I've known Gray for so long and I know the kind of man he is. He'd never steal from someone. This means that Robin is lying."
I stared at my boss, who turned around and said, "The CEO'S name is Ronald. He's your target. I want you to get closer to him and steal back my file. Understood? "
"I... Em..." I stammered, finding it hard to respond like before.
I noticed how Robin gazed at me with suspicion. Does he know that I'm Ronald's ex wife?
"Are you having second thoughts about this, Sophie? " He questioned me.
I swayed my head, telling him I was just thinking about the plan.
"Don't forget that I accepted you to work for me when those idiots tried to send you off. Your job is to serve my needs, and getting my file is the first. Don't tell me you want to back out now."
"No, I don't. Like I said, I was just thinking of how I'd execute the plan," I lied.
His eyes darting ta me, before letting out a creepy smile.
"Good. You start there tomorrow as a worker. Always give me feedback, Sophie. I want to know about the progress," He said.
"Yes sir, I've heard," I accepted.
Robin allows ene to leave the company for home, since he wants me to start my mission tomorrow.
As I made my way out, I felt a sting in my heart, realizing I'd be heading over to Gray's company to carry out a terrible mission.
"Robin doesn't know I'm Gray's wife. That's for a fact. If he did know, he would have used me as a way to get Gray to bring this file he claims belongs to him. And I know for a fact that Gray would never steal. Robin is a thief."
Stepping out and getting a cab, I felt weak to the fact that I'd accepted the job. But not to help Robin, but to save Ronald.
"Robin wants me to ruin Ronald's company, big I'll save it no matter what. I know his company is legit. I won't allow someone to steal from him. I'll save you, Gray.”
