Sophie The next day, I got myself ready for an interview at Dreamscape. From the text Robin sent to me, Ronald's company is having an interview, and Gray is in need of a new Secretary. He told me to head over there, that he has everything under control for me. I didn't understand what he meant, until I arrived at Dreamscape to take an interview. When the interviewer, a man, saw me stepping in... "You're hired," He said, leaving me stunned. "This is what Robin meant. He has connection in Gray's own company!" I was stunned. Among the ten candidates, I was picked to be Gray's secretary, while the others had to either leave or take up a minor job. Learning I'm going to be Gray's secretary, and I'm starting work immediately, I felt bothered in my heart, as old memories came flooding back to me. All the nine years spent with him, got my innocent heart pounding in fear, wondering what he'd say when he sees me. "Don't panic, Sophie. You're here on a mission, and that's to save Gray from Robin. Just be careful with how you handle things here. Once you tell him what the issue is, quit your job and leave this place forever," I decided, planning myself. A staff was brought in to take me to my office, which was in Gray's own office as well. I felt my heart pounding when we arrived outside his office, wondering what his expression might be on seeing me. But when we stepped in, Gray wasn't on his seat. "Excuse me, where's the boss?" I asked the staff. "The boss is attending to a meeting. He'd be here as soon as he's done." "Okay, thank you," I appreciated, watching the staff leave. She had showed me my desk, which was at a corner, fenced with a wall, blocking my view from Gray's. "At least I won't have to see his face all the time while working," I said, making my way to the desk. Once I got there, I got a call from Robin. The restless CEO wanted to know if I'd gotten in. "So, where are you now?" He questioned. "I'm in my office sir," I said, looking around the room. "Your office? You mean Gray's office?" He asked. From his words, it's clear that this man knows a lot about Ronald's company. It's either he has been here before or that spy of his always give him details. "Em, Yes sir. I'm in his office." "Good. This is your opportunity to find the file. It's clear that he's not there with you," Robin said, trying to get me to start his work. I felt my heart boiling over his greed and desire to get my ex husband's file. Something that doesn't belong to him, he's acting like it does. Hearing him, I immediately carried out an act to get him to leave me. "Someone is coming sir. We can talk later," I lied, acting like someone was approaching the room. "Alright then. Later," Robin said, hanging on me. I felt relieved, sitting on my desk to get myself. "How did I end up in such a mess?" I asked myself, questioning the heavens about this. "All I asked for was a chance to start a fresh and brand new life, but once again, you've gotten my life entwined with Ronald. Why?" I felt upset. Once this is over, just move far away from this place and from Gray and Robin," I decided. Now that I was settled in my office, I decided to try and get Gray's attention at once. I went over to the meeting room but couldn't get in on seeing the securities there. I waited for some time, but returned back to the office when I noticed that spy of Robin, passing by. I had to act like one carrying out my duty, just to avoid being caught. "When will this meeting be over?" I asked while sitting on my desk in Gray's office. Just then, I heard the sound of the door opening. I stood at once, stepping into the open, only to see that staff from earlier. She came to see if I was doing fine. "Yes, I am, " I said, thanking her for her care. Then she left me alone. She did this the second time after ten minutes or so, making me lose any hope or strength to check if Gray was coming or not. I decided to explore Gray's office and kill the boredom I was feeling. It's the first time I'd be in his company and office. He has never brought me over. "He never even considered me as his wife, so why will he carry me to his company?" I chuckled at my life. I heard the sound of the door opening from behind again. Already knowing it's the staff from earlier, I said, turning around, "Look, you don't have to keep on... " But I'm left stunned at who I saw. It was Gray, not the staff. He too looked shocked on seeing me. His eyes all wide, as they eyed me from head to toe. It's been a while that I felt this way towards Gray. After I left the house with the divorce papers, I felt like a whole new person. I felt like a teenager again. But on seeing Gray, I felt my love for him returning. "Sophie? What are you doing here?" He questioned me, stepping fully into the office. I lost my voice and couldn't give him and answer. I felt weak just like the way it was when we were still together. "I... I'm..." My words kept choking me. The staff from before showed up again, letting out an exclaim, "Oh! You're here sir." "Em, who... What is she..." Gray couldn't even speak properly to the staff lady. "Sorry sir, she's the new secretary you requested for. Mrs Sophie passed the interview and starts work today," She shared with Gray. "My new secretary?" He looked at me in astonishment. I had to summon my courage and confirm it to Gray. "Yes sir, I'm the new secretary.”
