I couldn’t concentrate on anything else, my staff had brought in a new file into my office and I didn’t even bat an eyelid in her direction. I stared shamelessly at my ex-wife. She had gotten even more beautiful since the last time we saw each other.

I've been tempted so many times to reach out to her and maybe make amends for hurting her so much. I stared at her top that rested delicately on her body, the outfit she wore brought her curves to life. Every time she stood up for a coffee break, I would stare at her smooth legs and up to her potable bum as she walked around.

“Sir, Is there a problem?” My staff stared at me with worry and confusion. I composed myself and fixed a low smile on my face.

“Why?” I answered quickly, she looked at Sophie and back at me.

“I have been trying to get your attention to show you the new project that was approved and how far ever gone. The problem is you haven't looked at it for more the five seconds.” My staff explained but I didn't care about what she noticed. I have never brought Sophie to the office before now. I have always hidden her and made her a housewife. There was regret and satisfaction. If I had brought her here and introduced her as my wife then my ignorant staff would have never hired her for the job.

“You can leave it here, I will check it soon.” She nodded in agreement and placed the file gently on my desk before exiting my office. I couldn't stand it any longer. I just couldn't sit there and stay at her all day. She didn't even look over at me even once. I got up from my seat and walked to her desk.

“Miss Hails, can I see you for a moment?” I asked and stared at her beautiful eyes.

“Yes of course sir.” She gave me a warm smile and I could feel sweat forming on my palms. I wonder why she has this effect on me. She made her way to my office.

“Why are you doing this?” I asked immediately and I could see her face change from a relaxed one to a confused expression.

“Doing what sir?” She knew exactly what I was talking about but she was acting confused about everything. I wanted to scream at her but I knew that people in the office would quickly find out what the problem was and I couldn't possibly embarrass myself like that.

“You know exactly what I am talking about. Stop acting dumb.” I got irritated and tried to hide the fact that I was annoyed with her mind games.

“Sir, I would appreciate it if you could stop using such words on me.” I nearly ran mad. I slammed my hands on the table.

“Stop playing mind games with me. We both know what you're doing, Sophie.” Her eyes were lowered to the ground quickly looked up at me and her eyes burned with anger. It was evident.

“You left me broke after the divorce, I didn't benefit anything after you left me!” She said with a slightly raised voice. I scoffed and walked over to Sophie.

“We both know that the marriage was going to end sooner or later. It was a loveless marriage and I only settled for you because my true love wasn't available. I was never attracted to you, you were too pale and didn't have the endowments Madison has, You were never appealing.”

I saw her shoulders drop, my words hurt her deeply and I took pleasure in seeing her this way.

“The point remains that I need to work, I was left with nothing and I need to make something for myself.” She turned around to wipe her tears.

“I never said you shouldn't make a living for yourself but not in my office, you can take it elsewhere.” I sized her up and went back to my seat.

“Wow, you hate me that much? I can't believe I am getting fired on my first day of work.” She said with teary eyes.

“Just because of our past, you can work here till you find another job and leave. If I were you I would get started in looking for another job immediately.” I took the alcohol in my hand and drank it while smiling mischievously at her sad face.

“Thank you for being considerate Mr Ronald Armstrong.” The sarcasm in her voice was loud but I didn't want to drag the matter further because she already got the message.

“You can take your leave.” As she was about to leave, Madison came into my office with a disgusted and annoyed expression plastered on her face.

“What is she doing here Ronald?” She pointed at Sophie and walked to where I sat and sat down on my lap. I am sure that must have pierced Sophie’s heart because not only are we doing a little romance in front of her but I also let Madison come to my office. I never even let her come out with me in public spaces because her presence irritated me.

“Well apparently she is my new secretary,” I confessed, Madison gasped loudly.

“No no no no, I will never agree to this.” Madison protested her and slowly got up from my lap.

“You have nothing to worry about, baby.” I tried to calm her down because I know how she can get.

“How stupid can you be Ronald that you can not see that she is trying to seduce you?” Madison was annoyed, but for some reason, I didn't want to fire Sophie, I had to look for a way to calm things.

“Baby, you know I can never be attracted to her, I chose you for a reason and you know she is penniless and needs to earn so she can disappear from our lives. This is the least I can do and it will only be for a short time.”

“You, leave this office immediately. Husband snatcher.” Madison pointed at Sophie and the office became quiet because if we are being honest, Madison snatched me from Sophie.

“That's rich.” Sophie responded and Madison gasped even louder.

“Why you bi-” I held Madison’s hand and pulled her back.

“Baby, listen to me, it is certainly not worth it. She will be out of our lives soon.” Madison finally calmed down and kissed my lips.

“Fine, but no funny business and I will also be paying more visits to your office often.” She revealed and she clicked her tongue.

“You can leave.” I commanded Sophie without any hesitations she exited my office.

“What a loser coming back here.” Madison mocked and we both laughed. I felt a little bit bad but I didn't show it and from my office, I saw Sophie walking towards the restroom. Why did she get up so suddenly?
