6. Raven
As much as I was shivering with fear and tension, I must admit that the higher power really knew the work of creation. How else could I describe the gorgeous creature that had just left the room?
I had never seen someone as handsome as him! This one looked like a demi-god with the eyes of a heart breaker. How could a fully grown man have such long and dark lashes like a baby's? Dammit!
Goddess! What was going on? Who was this man? And what did he mean that he had already knotted me?
And the aura he exuded? The power? The sweet scent? He smelled like wealth and something else I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was. I swear, it was something I had never felt before! The height, the biceps and triceps, the high cheekbones, the soft and milky skin, the dark hair like midnight, Goddess, what was this?
I wasn’t even worthy of being anywhere close to him, let alone carrying his pup, as he claimed. He had to be dreaming. He couldn’t want a girl like me to carry his pups. Did he even know who I was? I was nothing, an Omega who would never have her wolf, not after what happened to me in the dungeon. I would be human for the rest of my life. This man couldn’t be real to want me to be his breeder.
I had to find a way out before it was too late.
Remembering my father, Morgan, and Yvaine, I jumped out of my skin and turned to the door. I didn’t know what they had planned for me today but I was sure it wasn't something I would be proud of. Sighing, I encouraged myself that all was well even though I knew that that was all a lie. Nothing was okay.
I had run away from alpha Kane and I didn't know what awaited me but what I knew for sure was that I was going to have broken bones by the end of it all.
Just as I was about to turn the knob and sneak away, the door opened, and there in front of me stood the tallest work of art I had ever seen, staring back at me. I had to lean back just to see his full face.
"Where do you think you're going?" His deep, husky, and cold voice echoed, making me bite my lower lip while bowing my head.
"I… I want to go home! I must go home," I stammered. Thank the Goddess that the words even came out of my mouth because my voice felt stuck.
"I have an emergency. But I want you to be my contracted breeder." I swear I thought I had heard wrong!
"Y-you said..."
"Go think about it. You have one day to give me an answer," he interrupted, then walked back into the room, leaving the door open behind him.
All the while, my heart was beating like a broken car engine. Sweat was already dripping down my forehead.
I wanted to say something, but the words couldn’t come out of my throat. So I just nodded and turned to the door, ready to walk away, my mind already back at home. I was scared to the bones, already imagining my punishment for what happened the previous night but I knew I had to go back.
"And wait," those two words made me halt at the door, and I bit my lower lip to stop myself from screaming.
He said he knew my father. He even knew who I was. But still, he dared to stop me from going back home.
"There is no room for objection. You will be my breeder, and that's it."
"Who do you think you are to demand anything from me?" The words poured out of my mouth before I could stop them, the last bit of patience inside me thinning rapidly.
Yes, he might have the aura of a king, or whoever he thought he was, but he didn’t own me.
“You can try to reject me and see what happens. You won't be the first to try,” with that, he didn’t even turn to look at me. He just walked past me and disappeared down the hallway.
The hell was with this man? And who was he anyway?
Heaving a deep sigh of relief after realizing I had been holding my breath all this time, I closed my eyes and clenched my fists at my sides. I needed to calm down before heading back to the house.
Just remembering that I had to return made my heart thump harder than before.
What would my family do to me today?
I had failed to escape, and to make it worse, I had spent the night with a stranger. That alone was enough to earn me a week in the dungeon.
Goddess, no! I had had enough of that place over the past five days. I didn’t want to face that same fate again.
Gathering all the courage I could muster, I rushed out the door. My body was still in pain, but I would think about that later. For now, I needed to get home as soon as possible.
How I wished I had somewhere else to go! How I wished my mother was still alive! She would have done anything to protect me. But now, even my father didn’t care about me. In fact, he was the one who beat me like a slave.
It didn’t take long to reach home. But just before I could step inside the entrance, someone pushed me from behind, and I crashed into the door, bounced back and fell heavily on my back. Pain shot through me as I landed on my arse and hissed.
“Dad, Mom! The little w***e is back!” A familiar voice screamed.
Before I could even register what was going on, everyone was outside, staring down at me.
Slap!
A hard slap landed on my face, making me lose my sight for a few seconds. I slowly blinked, trying to focus, then looked up at the person who had struck me.
Of course, it was Yvaine, my stepmother.
"How could you ruin this family's reputation, you little w***e!" She screamed, venom dripping from her words.
And just like that, the world before me became more bitter than I could explain.
Dammit! I was in hot soup. Every cell in my body was already alerting me of what was to come next.
