"Yes, Mama. What's wrong?"
Marriage? This must be a joke but it's just too expensive to her.
"Are you really serious about this? Who did that? How?" Miah asked. Her gaze went to Aurora who was engrossed with her tab already.
What else did she expect? A clear explanation from a child? That jerk should be in for it today.
"Aurora, go downstairs. I will be with you and your dad shortly."
"You are not giving me a goodbye kiss?"
Miah nearly sighed out. Indeed kids would test your patience. With a smile on her lips, she placed a kiss on her chubby cheeks.
Aurora laughed. "Thank you, Mama."
Her legs swaying side by side, she trotted out of the door.
"What have I done to deserve this?!" Miah grunted.
Timmy laughed out. He knew how his friend would react at the news. His mother really was the main tigress.
"Tim, don't add to what's happening around me this minute, because you should be searching a way out for me this minute!"
Ronald slammed off what he held. He knew his mother would go to any lengths just for the Empire. But to what length?
"Searching for a way out? I don't understand. A way out to where? Ronald, you and I know you can't win your mother in all of these. She has 90% support of the people around her. I can't win against her. I am not even planning to."
"Timmy?..."
"Ronald, yes."
"So how do I explain to that rude lady that this was never my intention and that it was my mother's?"
"The way you started with her. Sit and explain."
"Timmy, I am being suspicious of you now. Who are you in support of?"
"Me!..."Aurora screamed, excitedly. She ran into his arms, giggling.
"Aurora, how many times have I told you not to barge in when I and Uncle Timmy are discussing?"
Aurora stood still. She was staring below her feet now.
"I am sorry, dad. I just came to tell you Mama would be here with us soon. She told me to tell you that."
Timmy pulled her closer. "Will you stop glaring at my daughter that way?. She is but only a child. Why are you venting your anger on her?"
Ronald heaved a deep sigh. Did he just...
"Aurora, come."
She walked up to him slowly.
"I am sorry if my voice went a little high but something had been going on here and I need you not jumping around while I solve this issue, alright?"
Aurora blinked. "Is it that hard to get married to Mama?"
Ronald glanced up at Timmy.
"I didn't tell her anything. She has a tablet, remember?"
Ronald returned his gaze to her. "It's not. It's just that there are lots you still don't understand but you will when you grow up, alright?"
Aurora nodded. "Alright, dad. I just don't want you separated from Mama. I don't want it, again."
She held her tab firmly and left.
"Are you satisfied now? I will be with her. I am sure Miah would be here soon. Sort it out"
He got up and walked out.
A knock on the door, it creaked open. There was Miah, clad in her fitted long silhouette.
"Will you stop staring and let me in?"
Ronald gave her his usual stern look. "You can decide what you want to do."
Miah gave a loud scoff. "If I could, this door wouldn't be here right now. Well, tell me, explain to me what's going on."
She walked in and sat.
"It's exactly what you've seen. My mother took it upon herself to announce our marriage and we have to get married."
"Sir Ronald, I don't think this was in the agreement. Marriage? You must be joking about this. I have my life planned already. I have lots i want to do with my life. Not get stuck with you!"
Ronald sighed. Why does her expression seemed to pierce his heart?
"Look, Miss. I wasn't planning this too. My mother..."
"Your mum...your mum... What are we to do now because I can't get married to you."
"I will try to see what I can do about it. But I am not promising anything."
A ring is heard and a bodyguard walks in.
"Boss, Madam wants to see Miss Miah now."
Miah shifted. What was really going on?
"See me? Why? How? I don't get."
"Relax, she just wants to see you and besides, she is not a beast to devour you," He looked at his bodyguard. "You can get her to my mother. I will head over when I am done here."
The bodyguard nodded.
"You want me to go alone?"
"Of course. Do you want us going together to solidify the rumours again?"
"Alright, I give up. I give up!"
She stood and the bodyguard followed her out.
Some minutes after, the car pulled up at a mansion.
She got down and was received by some maids.
"You are welcome to the Grey's mansion, Madam."
They bowed.
Miah took more steps forward. She just wanted to get back to her space. She felt her heart beating erratically.
A smile from a woman past her fifties, Miah knew she was his mother.
Not too many accessories on her, her skin was glowing smooth. Her gown was decorated with shiny and sparkling dress stones. She walked up to Miah and ushered her to sit.
"I can the stunned look on you. I am sorry to call you in so soon. I should have allowed you spend some time with Ronald."
Why does this look comforting than she expected? She had watched movies and read novels of stern mother's. Why was she different?
"Ma, I and your son aren't...."
"I know. Aurora explained everything to me."
"Aurora? I bet she doesn't really know what you needed to hear."
Mrs Grey smiled again. She was expecting this lady to be excited about getting married to her son. Was the information she got true?
"Aurora is my grandchild and she knows her father better than you think. Miah, I need you to understand this. I did call you here to tell you that Ronald needs you. Aurora needs you. We all need you and that's why I made that announcement. I am sorry if that meant you dropping your plans."
