The battle

CHAPTER SIX.

'Chy, I'm very sorry. I didn't know what cane over me. Please forgive me.' Kosi apologized to Chioma on her knees.

'Please stand up, Kosi. I have already forgiven you.' Chioma said.

'Do you mean it? Kosi asked.

'Yes, dear.' Chy replied.

'Thank you so much, darling.' Kosi said, faking a smile.

'Come here.' Chioma told her spreading her hands wide and they hugged each other.

Kosi brought out two biscuit and offered one to Chioma. But, she declined.

'You know I don't love milky biscuits.'

'Really. Okay ohh. I'll get you chocolates, some other time.' Kosi had answered back smiling.

Chioma introduced Cynthia to her.

The three girls studied and they discussed.

After discussion, Chioma suggested prayer.

'Let's pray and Thank God for this great reunion.'

'Yes, that's very important. We need to do that.' Cynthia added.

' Ermmm,I need to go back to my hostels now.I need to arrange some things.' Kosi said.

'Let's pray a quick prayer na.' Chioma urged her.

' I'm coming. I forgot to lock my cupboard'. Kosi said and left.

'What is wrong?' Chioma asked.

'You know Ogbanje people can't pray because prayers will burn them like fire.'

'You are very right. This girl hasn't been delivered.' Chioma concluded.

Kosi came to Chioma and greeted her.

'How far? Chioma asked her.

'Fine.' Kosi replied.

'I'm sorry for the way I left the other day.' Kosi apologized.

'It's okay.'Chioma replied.

'Chy, I don't like the way you're relaying with that girl called Cynthia. I have heard a lot of bad things about her ohh.' Kosi had said.

'Kosi, you don't choose friends for me. There is nothing wrong with that girl.' Chioma had said.

After that discussion, Kosi avoided her for some days. When she came, she claimed that she was preparing for the upcoming test.

'It is well.' Chioma had said.

The three girls studied. They were reading their books when, Cynthia brought up the issues of the Ogbanje girls.

'Chy, this ogbanje girls are really causing more havoc to this school. I wish they can be caught and be put to shame.'

'Very true. I wish I can recognize them. I won't hesitate to report them once, I have better evidence.' Chioma replied.

Kosi didn't say anything. She just bent her head towards the ground. Chioma called her:

'Kosi, Kosi, Kosi.'

'Shey those bad girls?Their plans won't happen.' Kosi said recovering herself.

'In Jesus name?' Cynthia said loudly and Chioma supported her with an 'Amen.'

Kosi was beginning to feel uneasy.

After a long silence, Chioma asked a question:

' Kosi, who are those girls that you move about with recently?

'They are just friends.' Kosi replied.

'Friends? Even Ss3 students, what kind of friends? Chioma asked.

'I'm pressed. I need to use the restroom'. Kosi said and left.

They didn't see her again.

During the ogbanje girls meeting, they all agreed that Daniella would visit her mother.

the Ogbanje girls gathered beside the cashew tree. That was the day for Daniella, to travel to Akpojor.

Daniella bought some local items which includes: a local calabash, red and blue plain pieces of clothes, kolanut, coconut, alligator and a hen. No one knew where she brought those things from.

She slaugutered the hen and drank the blood. She broke the kolanut and they ate it. She roasted the hen and they ate it. She then stepped on a local pot burning with fire and she disappeared while the other girls, were muttering some things.

At Akpojor.

'My queen.' Daniella bowed to greet her mother, Adaugo.

'My dear princess, I know you will come. You are welcome.' The Queen mother, Adaugo said.

'Thank you so much, mother.' Adaugo replied.

'Adaeze!' She called her by he native name and said:

'Adaeze, you're really representing me well. I'm so proud of you.' She said this and Daniella blushed.

'What brought you here?' Adaugo asked.

'Nne, there is this girl called 'Chioma.' She started school weeks after I did. She has been acting obstinately, and her prayers usually interrupt our late-night meetings. Through her prayers, she saves people we intended to kill. Consequently, impeding our plans. Fire will emerge whenever we attempt to call a student at night. Daniella gave the narration.

Okay. You want me to do something to her? Shall I kill her, or give her a disease?" Adaugo enquired.

Daniella paused to reflect before responding, saying:

'Nne, I'll love her to due a slow death. Inflict her with a disease, mother.'

'Consider it done.' Adaugo said and Daniella smiled.

Adaugo invoked the spirit of Chioma and it appeared. She was praying.

'Ohh! The girl is even praying.' Adaugo said laughing.

She said some incantations and she raised her staff and struck it at the image of Chioma, that appeared at the mirror.

'I just strucked her with stomachache. It won't be serious for some days. But, it will kill her slowly.' Adaugo explained.

'Thank you so much, Nne. You never let me down, I knew that. I am really appreciative. With gratitude, Daniella gave her mother a hug.

Thank you very much, Ada m.It is time for you to return now. declared Adaugo. 'Keep representing me well, my daughter.'

'I will, mama.' Adaugo said and stood still. Her mother struck her with her staff and she disappeared.

She appeared at school and because it was almost daybreak, they all went to their classes.

Chioma was praying when she began feeling stomachache. She prayed and anointed herself with the olive oil her mentor gave to her. The pains subsided and she slept.

Daniella explained everything to the girls and the girls were so excited. They really wanted to see the downfall of Chioma.

So, it was the week for the mid term test. Chioma had written two papers and was revising the fourth one, when she felt a sharp pain.

'Aah! My stomach! My stomach!.' She screamed. 'Chommy, what is it?'. Cynthia asked.

'My stomach aches.' Chioma replied.

Cynthia gave her water.

'My stomach eeh!.' Chioma screamed again and that, alerted some students.

Cynthia rushed to call their form mistress, Mrs. Grace.

On her way to the school hospital, she passed the ogbanje girls. They were laughing and pointing at her.

'I wonder why the school management, hasn't noticed thus devils.' She thought.

Chioma was admitted and the doctor couldn't say anything that was wrong with her. Chioma slept after receiving some injections that enabled her to sleep. Cynthia sat beside Chioma, weeping.

Then suddenly, she sprang up to her like one who has seen Jesus. She began to pray.

Miss Grace heard her mention about the Ogbanje girls in her prayers. She called her when she was done praying and then asked her:

'I heard you mention about the Ogbanje girls in your prayer. Do you know them?

'I was just praying and binding their plans because, I know they have come again.' Cynthia replied.

'So, you don't know who they are?' Mrs grace, asked again.

'No, I don't.' Cynthia answered back.

Chioma woke up and complained if serious stomachache. She personally knew that it was something that needs spiritual attention, not medical attention.

'Daniella, you're too much.' Ojone praised Daniella.

'Chioma that have been parading herself, can't wait to see her death.' Bose added.

'Aah, my dear friend. I regret betraying you. Will you ever forgive me?' Kosi asked no one in particular.

'Shut up, you ingrate. I will kill you ohh.' Daniella rebuked her.

'I'm so sorry. I won't try that again.' Kosi pleaded realizing her mistakes.

'The next day, you try this. You won't live to tell your experience.' Daniella said.

Then, Daniella faced the other girls and said:

'Thr battle is not over, Cynthia is the next.'.
