A visit to the mermaid mermaid

CHAPTER NINE.

Adaugo was restless, she wondered why Chioma hasn't surrendered. She decided go visit the great mermaid in the ocean.

She arrived the great ocean and was allowed to see the mermaid after some minutes if waiting.

The mermaid was a very beautiful woman. Her skin reflected like diamond. Her eyes burned with fire whenever she was angry. She had a very long hair which reached her tail. Gossips said that she communicated with the devil.

She spoke the mermaid's language which took Adaugo time to learn.

Beside the throne of the mermaid was Milicent, her first daughter. She was full of pride and often, she maltreated people. Maybe, that was because she was the only child.

The otherside was decorations made with human skulls and bones. It looked so scary.

'Good evening, my queen.' Adaugo greeted bowing.

'Good evening, Adaugo. You're welcome.' The queen responded.

'Thank you, ma'am.' Adaugo said and narrated everything to her about Chioma.

'Ha, ha, ha!' The mermaid laughed and continued:

'You know it's a simple task for me.' She brought out a shiny bangle.

'Take this! She commands and Adaugo collected it.

'Give it to your daughter or the teacher. The person should wear this bangle and visit that girl in hospital. Touch her and then, she will die after 30 minutes.' The great mermaid explained with a devilish smile.

'Thank you so much, my queen.' Adaugo appreciated.

'You're welcome.' The mermaid replied.

The mermaid fortified her and they also discussed other things.

Adaugo then left to visit Lucy.

'Good evening, my queen.' Lucy greeted on her knees.

'Stand! How is everything going? Adaugo asked.

'Everything is going smoothly.' Lucy replied.

'Good. I visited the great mermaid in the ocean.'

'Wow! How did it go? Lucy asked.

'It was fine. That was the reason I came here. She asked me to give you this bangle.' Adaugo gave the bangle to Lucy who collected it.

'Just put it on, go and visit her at tge hospital and touch her. She will die before an hour.' Adaugo narrated.

'Wow! This bangle is so beautiful. I can't wait for her to die.' Lucy said.

'My greetings to my daughter. I have to hurry now.' Adaugo said and disappeared.

The next day, Lucy called Adaeze and explained everything to her.

'I love this bangle.' Adaeze said admiringly.

'This is not an ordinary bangle. I guess it was the mermaid that gave it to her? Adaeze guessed.

'Yes, the mermaid.gave it to her. The mermaid said that Chioma will die an hour later if I enter the hospital, and touch her. I should be putting this bangle too.' Lucy narrated.

At the staff room, Lucy conversed with some teachers.

'I learnt from some students that, there is thus brilliant student called 'Chioma.' Lucy brought up the topic.

'Yes, Chioma was attacked.'

'Attacked by who? Lucy asked immediately.

''My dear, it's the Ogbanje girls here.' The English teacher answered.

'We don't know them.' The physics teacher added.

'Lucy, why aren't you surprised?' Mrs Lilian asked.

'Na normal thing for some secondary school.' Lucy said to avoid suspicion.

'Hmm, it is well.' Mrs Lilian said.

'I'll like to go see her.' Lucy said.

'I'll go with you.' Mrs Lilian said immediately.

'I hope this woman don't find about my plans.' Lucy thought.

'I pray she gets herself, before revision.' Lucy spoke loudly.

'Amen ohh, she's my brightest student.' The chemistry teacher added.
