-Mary’s POV- I watched the door close before I got up to look inside the bags that Aiden left for me. Why was he being so mice to me? What had I done to deserve such kindness? I could not figure it out and it made my head hurt to think about it. I looked at the bags and decided to dump them out onto the bed. I placed them on the floor and made the bed beforehand. It was such a nice bed and I wanted to keep it that way. I emptied the bags and looked at everything. There were a few bras mixed in and I was thankful that they were there. I looked thru everything. To my surprise, they were all sundresses and under clothes. Not one pair of pants in the entire lot. I shrugged and picked a red sundress and black underwear set. I took a shower and got dressed to make sure that I was decent when Carson got to the room. Just as I got the second shoe on, there was a knock at the door. I stiffened and froze in place. “Mary, it’s Carson. May I come in?” I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Come in.” the door opened and he stepped into the room. “Hi.” I did not know how to talk to him. “Mary. You are… I mean, it’s been…” It was cute how he could not find the words he wanted to say. “Carson, please sit.” He left the door open and sat on the edge of the bed. “I’m glad we found each other. I thought I was alone for the longest time.” “If I had known you were still alive…” He trailed off in his thoughts. I held his hand and smiled at him. “I’m here now and I still need your help. You are my big brother.” His eyes met mine in curiosity. “What can I help with?” I looked down at my feet. It was so odd to see shoes on them. “I have to choose weather or not to join the pack.” “I see. Well only you can make that choice. I can’t make it for you.” I looked up at him and he was smiling. “But, if you wanted my opinion, it’s a great pack and I’m here.” I giggled at him. “I’m afraid that I won’t fit in.” “Carson stood up and smiled. “You just need to start to mingle that’s all.” He tried to pull me toward the door, but I stopped him. “What’s wrong?” “It’s not safe for me to be out and about.” I must have forgotten about Mark and all that going on. “Until he is caught, I don’t want to leave the room.” Before either of us could say anything else, Aiden appeared I the doorway. He looked like there was something he wanted to say, but did not speak. -Aiden’s POV- I got word that Mark was caught and put back in his cell. I wanted to tell Mary right away so that she would be comfortable to leave the room. When I got to the hallway, I was able to hear her and Carson talking. He was giving Mary advice on the pack. I could feel that he wanted her to stay but did not want to be pushy. I stepped into the doorway to enter my room and saw her standing there. She was beautiful. She had put on a blood red sundress and a pair of white sandals. Her hair was down and still a little damp from what I only assume was a shower. She looked into my eyes and I could not speak. Carson turned and bowed to me. “Is there anything I can do to help things?” “Stand guard over the prisoner until I get there.” He nodded and walked away leaving Mary and I alone. I stayed still and stared at her for a long while. I could tell that she was confused and, in all honesty, so was I. I could not understand why I was acting so strange around her. I finally got the courage to speak. “You look amazing in that dress.” Mary blushed and looked away from me. “I don’t think so. It’s weird.” “I hope you trust me enough to know that I always mean what I say.” “I am starting to.” She smiled and looked at me. “I have also decided something else as well.” I stayed silent. I was hoping that she had decided on the pack. She took a deep breath and smiled. “Is there a specific way to answer the question?” I thought for a moment and then answered. “You state your full name and the either accept or deny the invitation to the Blue River Pack. Then it is final.” I could see her thinking. I c****d my head to the side as she stood up straight and smiled. “Do I have to do it in front of the pack?” “No, little wolf. Just to me.” A lot of the time it is done in front of the pack, but as the Alpha, it was up to me weather or not to require that. She blushed at my words and took deep breath. “I, Mary Rose,” she paused and gave me a smirk. “Accept the Blue River Pack as my own.” There was a gust of wind that swept over the entire territory. Every wolf in the pack could feel the addition. The mindlink was set and it was done. “Now, just so you know, there are things that I will be able to do that I couldn’t before.” I wanted her to know everything. “Like what?” “Well, I can feel your emotions now and I will always be able to communicate with you like I did when we were wolves.” That was the easiest way to explain everything. “I see. And what about when I am alone? Can you see me then?” I was never asked that question before, but it was a valid one. “No, I can’t see you I just feel when needed.” Being in a pack was not that complicated, but was not simple either. “One other thing is that you could also mate with any unmated wolf in the pack after this.” “What does that mean?” I forgot that she was not raised the same as every other pup was. “Mating with someone is the event of finding your true love. The other half of your soul.” I smiled as I explained. “Have you mated with anyone yet?” her question stabbed thru me like a hot knife. “No, I have not. As the Alpha, I am expected to mate eventually, but so far no luck.” She looked at me and smiled. She reached for my hand gently. “It’s ok. I will fi…” The moment her had touched mine, I felt it. Her eyes darted to mine and she started to shake. I knew that she felt it too. I braced her with both hands against her shoulders. “Little wolf, it’s ok. I got you.” She fell into my chest and closed her eyes.”
