Seven years later.
It's been seven years since Lucia left the Silver Creek Pack to go chart a new course for herself.
During those seven years, she had earned herself a degree in Advertising and Public relations from a public University in the State of Florida. Her parents virtually sponsored her education because they sent money to her from time to time to help her meet up with tuition and other costs. Alpha Norman and his Luna also supported her financially and otherwise especially when she was still on campus to make sure she was very comfortable and to ensure that she still maintains her allegiance to the Pack.
Besides, she took up campus jobs to augment whatever her parents were sending to her. So she had no financial pressure throughout the 4 years in college. Infact, she was relatively comfortable.
Now she had spent close to three years working in a public relations firm outside the Pack. Her fame had grown astronomically since she started working as she had handled some plum public relations jobs for a lot of people, both wolves and humans.
Of major significance is the image laundering jobs she had handled for some top Alpha on behalf of her company. Alpha Norman had taken notice of her rising popularity and it had only increased his resolve to tighten the noose around her, so to speak.
As the six year leave given to her was about to lapse, she had applied to the Alpha for an extension of one year.
Her company had decided to post her to their office in Paris to oversee their activities and motivate their staff over there for a period of one year.
Alpha Norman didn't want to approve her request initially, but had to do so reluctantly after she had explained the situation properly.
After her return from the Paris tour of duty, she will quit the company and start to run her own company which had been in the pipeline for a while.
Alpha Norman had received the plan favorably and actually encouraged her by promising her a well equipped office within the Pack community on her return.
When Lucia left the Silver Creek Pack community close to seven years ago, Alpha Norman had seen it as a spur of the moment decision by an angry Wolf. He had taken it with a pinch of salt knowing fully well that it would not stand the test of time.
He had immediately contacted her on phone, asking why she took such a decision. She had told him the truth- her travails with his son, how she had felt unloved and all of that. Also, she would want to go to school and get some work experience after college.
After reviewing the situation, he had approved a six year leave for her. He had made her realize then that it was an order which was meant to be obeyed.
The issue of his son being rejected was secondary to him. What was paramount to him was to keep her in the pack There was no way a gifted wolf like Lucia will be allowed to join another pack, or in a worse case scenario, become a rogue.
The leave Alpha Norman gave was not unconditional. One, she shouldn't go about fraternizing with wolves from other packs, whether friendly or hostile, and she must return to the Pack community at the expiration of the leave. She had agreed. Of course, she had no option.
Lucia was sitting in her office one cool afternoon when her phone rang. She fished it out and quickly looked at the caller ID before picking. It came from Alpha Norman.
She picked the call. "Good day, sir," she greeted.
"Good day, Lucia," he replied. "I hope everything is fine with you?"
"Everything is okay, Alpha."
"Good. I need to remind you of
the day you're expected back at the Pack-Tuesday."
"I've not forgotten, Alpha, my flight is already booked."
"Very good. I'm even thinking of dispatching two wolves to come over there and bring you back home," he said. "Will that be okay by you?"
She hesitated for a while before she answered. "There's really nothing wrong with this, Alpha, but I really don't want you to bother sending them here, I'll prefer they pick me up at the airport when I arrive."
"Alright," agreed Alpha Norman. "If that's how you want it, we'll do it that way. They will be at the airport to pick you."
Lucia nodded her head and ended the call.
The trip was long but not boring. There was quite a lot to do on board to keep herself busy.
Finally the plane touched down and it was not hard to spot the two wolves sent by Alpha Norman after she had completed airport formalities.
