Chapter One: Scarred
I stand in front of the kitchen window looking outside. The sun shines bright in the almost cloudless sky. A refreshing cool breeze hits my face, along with the wonderful smell of lilacs. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, taking in the wonderful smell.
“Lilacs. My favourite”. I say with a smile.
After a moment, my smile fades and I let out a sigh.
“Too bad I’m gonna be stuck inside for most of the day”. I say sadly.
“Okay there you f*****g weirdo.” My brother says.
“Hey!” My mom shouts while smacking my brother on the shoulder. “Language!”
My brother sighs. “But she’s being weird. Why don’t you do something after school? “
I let out a sigh. “I got soccer practice, and it’s inside today.” I turn around and sit down at the table. “The football team has the field today. Lucky bastards.”
“Seriously you two!” She says, annoyed. “ If only I could wash your mouths out with soap.” She says sarcastically.
“Do it.” I say and open my mouth.
My mom grabs a piece of ham and tries to throw it into my mouth. It hits my cheek.
I touch my cheek as I laugh. “Mom!”
I grab some food from my plate and throw it at her. Soon food is flying everywhere, and we’re laughing so hard we could barely breathe.
My dad walks in confused. “What is going on in here?”
We stop throwing food, still laughing.
“Oh!” My mom says, still laughing. “Just having some fun.”
My dad chuckles. “And you say I’m a bad influence.”
My dad walks past us to the kitchen sink. My mom runs up behind him and tackles him with a hug.
“Get out of here you!” My dad says, laughing. He turns around and they start wrestling in the kitchen.
We all laugh as they continue to wrestle. I hear a loud and long honk and realize the time.
“Crap!” I say as I look at the time on my phone. I run around grabbing my stuff.
“Are you really gonna leave me to clean up?” My brother says, annoyed.
I see our parents heading upstairs as I’m putting on my shoes. I flip my brother off as I leave the house. I quickly run and get into Adrian’s car.
“Took you f*****g long enough.” He says, annoyed.
“Sorry, got distracted.” I say as I put my seatbelt on. “Dad got home last night.”
“Let’s just get to school.” He snaps.
He pulls out of the driveway and we head to school.
“What’s wrong with you grumpy pants?” I say, kinda annoyed.
He lets out a sigh. “I don’t know. I-I'm sorry. I got into it with my dad. He decided to tell me I'm taking over for him."
“What?” I say shocked. “Isn’t that a good thing?”
“I mean.” He sighs. “Kinda. I just wish he had given me a choice. I might have to drop out.”
“Wait. He wants you to take over now?”
He shakes his head. “Pretty much. Things aren’t going well with him, and he’s worried about the time he’s got left.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. Is it bad?” I ask, concerned.
“No. He was attacked yesterday, and is just having a crisis or something.”
“Christ thats scary.”
He sighs. “I know.”
I put my hand on his shoulder and i can feel him untense a bit.

The bell rings signaling lunch break. I stretch before I get up, and grab my stuff. I head to my locker to grab my lunch. As I grab my lunch, my locker neighbour opens hers.
“What the f**k is wrong with your boyfriend today?” She says, pissed off.
I look at her confused. “Boyfriend? I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“f**k off! Everyone knows you and Adrian are together. What? You are so pissed of that I messed with your locker that you sent your boyfriend after mine.”
I look at her even more confused. “What the hell are you talking about? I didn’t even know it was you who messed with my locker.”
She scoffs. “Yea right.”
She slams her locker and walks away, leaving me confused.
Stacy walks over to me. “Good job.”
“Okay, like, what the f**k is going on.” I say, annoyingly confused.
“Oh, you don’t know. Adrian went after her boyfriend in second period. Right in the middle of class. But Chase was being an ass, so I don't think he’s gonna get into too much trouble.”
I let out a frustrated sigh. “He’s not having the best day.”
She scoffs. “You could say that.”
“I’ll go see him. He’s probably still at the office.”
“Do you want me to save you guys a seat?”
I shake my head. “No. We’ll be fine.”
“Okay. See ya later.”
I nod. “Yea.”
I sigh as I head over to the office. As I turn the corner to the office, I see Adrian looking pissed. He sitting on a chair staring at the hall. He doesn’t even notice me walking up to him.
I kick his leg and he jumps.
“What’s up?” I ask.
He lets out a groan of frustration. “f*****g Chase dude. Pissed me off. Wouldn’t stop trash talking my brother.”
“Your brother?”
“Yea. Guess he somehow knows my brother is gay, and kept using it to try and get to me. Don’t think he thought I was gonna take a swing.” He throws his head back against the wall. “My dad's gonna be pissed.”
“Don’t worry about that now. Lets just deal with this.” I say as I sit beside him. “You know people think we are dating.”
He lets out a chuckle. “What?!”
I chuckle and nod. “Yea Chelsi said you punched him because she messed with my locker.”
“Why would I go after her boyfriend?”
I shrug. “I don’t know. Sounds pretty extra if you ask me.”
“Yea.” He says while sighing.
The door to the office swings open, and chase walks out with Chelsi. As soon as they see us, they glare.
“You happy now?” She says, annoyed. “He almost got expelled.”
“You mean he almost got himself expelled.” I snap back.
“Shut up.” She shouts.
I let out a small chuckle.
“You really think this is funny.” Chase says, pissed off.
“No. What I think is funny is how you know his brother is gay. I mean he’s not really open about it. You don’t know anyone who knows him. The only way I could think of is-“
“You shut your f*****g mouth!” He yells as he rushes towards me.
When I finally process everything, Adrian has Chase up against the wall with his hand around his throat. He holds him there for a few seconds before I jump and run to him. Chelsi lets out a scream.
“Adrian let him go!” I yell at him.
I grab his arm and try to pull him off. “Adrian! Stop!”
I get pushed back and hit the floor hard. I look up and see Adrian staring at me with so much anger.
‘"Adrian what the f**k!” I yell at him.
He snaps out of it, and shame and regret fills his face. He backs away and then turns and runs away. I get up as fast as I can and chase after him. I ignore chelsis and the teachers yelling at me. I chase him through the school, the doors, the field, and into the small park behind the school.
I lose him in the trees and try searching for him.
“Adrian!” I shout as I look around.
I jump when I hear him let out a scream of pain. I quickly follow the sounds of his screams. I finally find him, but in the fetal position. He lets out another cry of pain as he writhes in pain.
I run to him. “Adrian? What’s wrong?” I say concerned.
“Leave!” He yells out.
“I’m not leaving you if you’re in pain.”
“I said leave!”
I kneel down and as soon as I touch his shoulder I feel this force push me back. It feels like I got hit by a truck. I can feel a burning sensation on my chest and neck. I start to feel a strange warmth go over my, and on my sides. I try to move my limbs, but I can't. I can’t move.
I somehow move my head to look at Adrian but, I don’t see him. Instead I see a large grey wolf. It looks at me with bright green eyes.
“A-Adrian?” I manage to let out a whisper as everything goes dark.
