The young Alpha sat by his mother’s side peacefully. He had a beautiful smile plastered on his handsome face as his mother dressed him up.
With love and care, Luna carefully dressed her son while the maids looked on, with a smile also plastered on his face. He was very handsome indeed.
“Mother, I would like to visit grandmother today. Can you ask one of the maids to take me there?” He questioned, evading the quiet serene environment.
Immediately, the smile on his mother’s face vanished into thin air.
Even though he was about seven years of age, she could not afford to let him out of her sight. She always tried everything within her reach to ensure he was always with her.
She could not leave him for a full day with anyone including his father. Of course, his father could not harm him or anything but she believed no one could protect him more than she would.
“Mother…. Please. It’s been a few weeks since I went to see her. Please, mother” The young boy pleaded again as tears threatened to fall from his eyes.
“Why are you holding back? Please, let the little boy go”
The Alpha's voice interrupted them, leaving everyone in shock.
No one had expected him to come in at that time, although the door was not locked.
“Your majesty” The maids bowed as he walked into the room. The Luna also bowed in respect. He nodded with a smile.
“Father!” A smile formed on the little boy's face as he tried to locate his father.
Scott was quick to make it easier for him as he quickly carried him, placing a kiss on his cheeks and ruffling his hair. This little action always made Damien happy.
Despite being blind, he found happiness in almost everything.
Perhaps, we get happier when we close our eyes to the world when we cannot see sorrow or pain or deceit or greed when we cannot see the blinding light of the reality that shines at us.
“Please, my Luna. Let him go. Let him see my mother. I am sure she must have missed him as well” He pleaded with the little boy in his hands.
The little boy nodded in agreement even though he could not see them.
The Luna looked at the maids and immediately, they all understood what she was telling them. She simply needed privacy with the Alpha. They nodded and walked out quickly, carrying Damien out as well.
The Luna sighed as she stood up from the chair which she had sat all along.
She walked toward the Alpha with fear and worry in her eyes. He understood her fear immediately.
“She is my mother. I know things have not been going on well with you both but she cannot harm you, how much more our son?
She loves him and adores him so much as she does to me so there is no need for you to worry” He explained.
“Of course, she is your mother. You know the condition he is in. He cannot see. I cannot go with him as you know your mother would not accept to see me but leaving my son all alone is risky.
Have you forgotten? When I had him, your mother did not like him. What brought about the sudden change? I cannot help but be worried.
I love my son so much and I cannot afford to see anything happen to him”
“Now, don’t do that. Don’t do that Carissa. Do not do that. Ever since Damien was three years of age, he had been going to see my mother, and never for once had anything happened to him.
Do not entertain such thoughts because you know my mother would never do that” His face became harder.
“What if she is waiting for the right time? What if she is waiting to gain our trust?
My son is blind and your mother would have the opportunity to kill him when no one is there…”
“Carissa!” He yelled in anger, releasing a gasp from her as she stepped back in fear. “My mother is not a murderer. I do not care about whatever differences you both had but she is still my mother.
I love you so much and I promise that I can lay down my life for you but I will not watch you say such negative words against my mother. I love my mother as well and my son’s happiness matters so much to me” He turned his back.
“Damien is going to my mother’s place” He walked out in anger.
The Luna collapsed to the floor in fear. Her only son could be in danger. As soon as Alpha Scott walked out, he ordered the maid to get a palanquin ready as he got into it alongside his son, off to his mother’s court.
Covering his face, a young man who seemed to be in his mid-twenties looked around suspiciously as he walked into a small hut.
He looked around again to be sure no one was watching him. Even if anyone was, it would be very difficult to recognize him as he had covered all parts of his face, safe for his eyes.
“Indigenous, you lied to me!” He yelled in anger at the aged man who sat in the hut. The hut was quite small. The old man’s hair had all turned grey just like his knee-length beard.
"You told me you were going to kill this boy. It’s been seven years yet you told me you are waiting for the right time to strike. When will it be?!” He could not contain his anger.
“I did not lie to you. When he was born, do you remember hearing any sound? Perhaps, one that made his birth easier?” The old man asked as he crossed his leg.
“I do not remember any stupid sound. All I want to know is the reason why he is still alive!”
“I tried to take his life but his life is not with him. How can you take what someone does not have?” The old man explained gently.
“What are you saying? Come clean to me right now or I will kill you here right now!” He yelled again.
“If you remember quite well, while the Luna was in labor, as soon as a melodious sound of a violin began to play, she was delivered of him”
“And?”
“There is a particular lady who plays the violin. She is his life and his rhythm. Find her and bring her.
Then, Damien will be dead” A devilish smile formed on his face.
