CHAPTER SEVEN

“G-Gene.” She uttered on Gene’s name, as soon as she able to uttered a word and calm her erratically beating heart a bit.

“W-What are you doing here,” she asked curiously, “and why are you chasing your breath?”

Seeing Gene, made her surprise especially seeing her catching her breath, which made her curious for what is Gene is doing here infront of here? When the staff that she asked just a while ago said hat Gene has something important to attend to, but now she’s infront of her hand seems like she chased her.

“I thought you have something important to attend to?” she can’t help but to add asking.

Gene fix her composure first before she responded to her.

“We’ve made an appointment that we’re having dinner together right?” Gene asked so se nod in response.

“And my meeting just ended so I am on my way to your cottage but I saw you and you were about to tripped, so I rush to you but, I didn’t able to catch you, that’s why.” Gene added explaining non-chantly.

Avery gawk at Gene’s long explanation, and can’t help to smile when Gene turn her head to simply hide her face. She must be embarrass, she thought scoffing by Gene’s uneasiness that she find cute.

They just met a few days ago but, she strangely liked her the first time she saw Gene’s accidental photo in her camera, and now they keep on meeting because of some unwell circumstances but, she felt like being already attach with her that she want to befriend her.

Even in short time they meet each other she can see Gene is a strict, yet caring person and that includes the aura or authority in her whenever she is into business which she saw just this morning when she is with the business men.

Which the opposite of her, that only wants freedom from her Dad grasp and the another cage that he got for her, that made her the reason why she decided to go in this island and hide.

Thinking about the life she left to the city made her sigh a heavy one, which made her forgotten that she is currently infront of Gene.

“Is there anything wrong? You seemed you hurt your knees awhile ago?” She heard Gene asked that made thought came back from the reality.

“N-No I’m okay, I’m sorry I was just reminded something a bit.” She embarrassingly apologize for spacing out.

Gene shake her head and smile. “No. It’s fine.”

“So, let’s go?” Gene asked after.

She look at Gene confusingly and ask, “ to where?”

A entertained smile came out of Gene’s lips by Avery’s question, that she force to hide to make Avery not offended, and clear her throat before she spoke again.

“Dinner?” She simply answered.

Avery, can’t help to open her eyes as she heard Gene’s answer about the dinner that she forgot because her mind got wander for a bit.

“Oh, yeah the dinner…” She embarrassingly replied and laugh.

“Yeah, let’s go! I’m famish.” She added to hide her embarrassment that made Gene smile widen even more, specially when Avery ahead first.

Cute! Gene thought, before she followed Avery, and walk beside her.

Gene bought her to a 2-storey restaurant named BV&V that located in the middle of the island, that according to Gene is owned by her cousins.

A latin beauty in a chef uniform came to greet them on their way to the staircase through the second floor which Gene told her where their table is.

“Gene you’re here!” The chef lady greeted to Gene happily before turning her gaze to her and smile at her as well.

“New girl?” The chef asked turning her gaze back to Gene but this time she is eyeing Gene  a malicious one.

Gene tsk, and the chef smiled and said, “I was just kidding.”

The chef said before turning her gaze back to Avery and reach her hand for a hand shake.

“Hello! I’m Brianna Fuente Bella, Gene’s cousin.” The lady chef introduced with a warm smile this time.

Avery immediately reach Brianna’s hand as well and introduce herself.

“Avery Cortez.” She introduce giving the same warm smile to Brianna.

“I like you already! Just call me Bri, okay?” Brianna giddily said shaking Avery’s hand happily.

On the other hand Gene can’t help but to shake her head from her cousin’s childishness whenever she saw a person she liked for a very first time, and when she look at Avery she saw her surprise expression, which she cannot blame.

Because if you will saw Brianna for the first time, you will think her as a serious and mature one, which far from her true attitude of being a jolly and friendly one.

“Okay, Bri.” She heard Avery replied to Brianna.

“Nice! And is it okay f I will call you Ave?” Brianna asked again.

Avery smiled as she nodded to Brianna, before she replied. “Sure!”

“Okay Maria Brianna, enough with that, and go to where you are going. We’re hungry.” Gene can’t help but to intervene  for Brianna  seems doesn’t have any intention to stop chitchatting to Avery.

Brianna turn to Gene and rolled her eyes and pout for Gene’s intervening, that made Avery chuckle a bit for Brianna being adorable.

“Let’s hang out some other time Bri, if you want,” she offered for as Brianna pout didn’t fade, “I still haven’t got to explore the island for I just got here.”

After what Avery said Brianna’s face brightened and not simultaneously.

“I would love to!” Brianna replied with excitement in her voice.

“It’s a deal then.” She said smiling at Brianna.

“Now, I gotta go. Gene’s seems getting grumpy.” Brianna said after taking a glance to Gene who standing beside her, and when she look at Gene, she saw her face got dim.

She heard Brianna chuckle that made her turned her gaze back to Brianna again.

“I’ll really go now, Ave. See you around!” Brianna said in a sudden rush while her gaze are on Gene, and with that Brianna left, leaving her surprise.

“Okay…” She uttered replying to Brianna even Brianna already left.

“Let’s go now?” She heard Gene said, that made her switch her gaze on to her.

“Okay!” She replied with a smile.

As they arrive at the second floor a waiter is already waiting for them and escort them to their table on the restaurant balcony where they can see the wide evening sea and savor the fresh breeze of the evening, that made her feel sorry that she forgot to bring her camera, to capture the beauty of the bright moon mirroring the sea water along with the clear visibility of the stars.

Avery can’t help to adore the view of the night that lays infront of her, that she didn’t notice that someone is already taking a photos of her.
