CHAPTER 3.

1070 Words
ADEN'S POV. The entire pack members in the pack house were gathered outside to bid the Alpha of the Bluemoon pack and his family goodbye. Being a very good friend of Alpha Andrew Grayson; Alpha of the Firehall pack and also my Dad, it is necessary that the whole pack was called out to bid them goodbye. I stood beside my parent, watching them as they talked and laughed with the Alpha of the Bluemoon and his Luna. My friend Josh, who happens to be their thirteen year old son also stood with them. He is their only son and the future Alpha of his pack just like me. Because our parents were good friends, it was inevitable for us to become friends as well. Even as Josh stood with his parent, his eyes were fixed on Isabel. She is the daughter of the beta in our pack and also a mutual friend of ours. I don't like the way he was looking at her. I don't like how close they have become since he arrived her three weeks ago. It feels like Josh has already stolen Isabel away from me. Josh left this parent's side and walked straight to Isabel. I tried hard to control my anger. Josh got to Isabel and pulled out a rose flower from his pocket, and he stretched it out to her. Everyone looked startled at the unexpected gesture. "Isa, I like you a lot!" He declared without fear. The adults around cooed at his bravery. My little fist clenched in anger, but I tried not to show it. "When I turn eighteen and I return to the Firehall pack, I am going to take you back with me to my pack as my mate." Everyone laughed, and Isabel was blushing furiously. I was still burning with anger and jealousy. Who told him that Isabel is going to be his mate in the future?! Shyly, Isabel took the rose flower from Josh. I was angered by this, but I held it in. Who does he think he is to make a move on Isa? I knew her first! Josh had no right! After Isabel took the flower, Josh turned to me. "Make sure you take care of her in my absence Aden. I don't want to find my mate hurt when I return." I pushed down my anger and forced a smile, "sure." He again looked at Isabel and smiled widely. "Bye Isa, take care of yourself." "Okay," Isabel replied in her lovely soft voice, and Josh turned and returned to his parent. After some more words of farewell, the Bluemoon pack Alpha and his family got into their red van and left the Firehall territory. *** Many families lives in the pack house, and that includes the Alpha family and the Beta with some other low ranking wolves. I left my room that evening to go check on Isabel in her own room on the second floor. It has been hours since Josh left, and neither of us had made any move to talk to each other. When I got to her room, I didn't bother knocking before going in. We have been friends since we were babies, and it's natural that we don't knock on each other's door before going into each other's room, because we were totally comfortable with each other. My heart fell when I saw Isabel seated on her bed and smiling at the rose flower Josh gave her. In that moment, I wished both of them had never met. She sensed my presence and stared sideways at me. Her smile widened like that of an angel. Those blue eyes got brighter, and it felt like I was staring into a clear sky. "Hey Aden," she spoke in her sweet voice that was always capable of melting my heart. I smiled back, closing her door and walking deeper into the room. "Hey Isa," I went closer to her bed and sat beside her. My eyes glared at the flower in the hands. "I really didn't expect Josh to do that." She sighed dreamily, "me too. But I kind of like it," my heart fell. "I miss him already. He's always so nice to me, and he's very sweet and funny. I'm going to miss his playful gestures, and those stupid jokes of his." She giggled as she thought about him oblivious to the fact that those words were killing me slowly. I stared down at my feet sadly, "b- but Isa, I am always nice to you too, you said I was funny a few times too, and I've been playful with you almost all our lives." She shook her head quickly, "no Aden, you don't understand. Its different with you. You're my best friend, and Josh is..." She paused, "Josh is..." She blushed and smiled again unable to complete the words. I didn't like this reaction at all. Does that mean Isa likes Josh in the same way he likes her? "Isa, I don't want to be just a best friend to you." We both stared at each other. Isa looks surprised at my words. I needed to be brave like Josh and tell her how I feel. He's the same age as me, he's the son of an Alpha just as I am, he's the future Alpha of his pack just like me, so why am I so scared of confessing my feelings to Isabel just like he did. I decided not to be a coward. If Josh can do it, then I can do it too. "Isa I_ I..." She was watching me expectantly, waiting for a reply. A loud thud interrupted our conversation. The sound shook the house like an earthquake. There was noise and commotion outside the pack house. Isa's eyes widened in fear. "What is going on?" She asked in panic. "I have no idea," I answered and quickly stood up to go check through the window. As I pulled the curtains aside, I saw many of the pack members running towards the front yard of the pack house. Many of them were already in their wolf forms. They all seem to be in a rush, and I instantly realized what was happening. "Isa, our pack is under attack!" Her eyes widen in shock, and I understood her fear. But she shouldn't worry, I am going to so my best to protect her.
