CHAPTER SEVEN
Kaila POV
I stared at the strange handsome scarred man who seemed to tickle my fancy, as he exit the room with the man who had interrupted our rendezvous. I suppose he is the doctor treating me. I released the breath I never realized I was holding.
‘’What just happened?’’ I wondered.
I raised my right hand; using my index finger, I traced the lines of my lips as I remember the feel of his lips on mine.
“Princess Kaila Jacobs, what did you just do?’’ I groaned, picking up the pillow, I buried my face into in. What came over me, what was that? How did we even end up almost making out? I tried to remember he conversation we were having before the episode but couldn’t.
“Kaila, are you stupid?’’ I asked aloud, head still buried in the pillow. ‘’Arg!!!’’ I screamed.
“But you enjoyed it?’’ that annoying subconscious inner voice of mine said.
The door cracked open and I raised my head just in time to see Dr. Thompson walk in.
I sat up properly, using the sheet to cover myself well.
He gave me a gentle heartwarming fatherly smile. I watched as he walked toward the spot he awkwardly stood when Handsome scarred and I tried to get some composure after being caught.
He picked up a bag, I never noticed was sitting there. Picking up something wrapped in black sheet, he walked towards to me.
“Here,’’ he said stretching it to me.
I stared at it with great caution. “What is it? I asked.
“The…” he paused. “Clothes, He said I should get it for you on my way here,” he explained pointing to the door.
I was tempted to ask where he is but I held back. “Thank you, Doctor.” I said instead.
“Okay, I would just turn back while you dress up,” he said handing me the dress. With a gentle smile on my face, I gracefully accepted it.
“Tell me when you are done,”
“Sure, I will,” I whispered opening the sheet. My eyes met a beautiful yellow dress with white floral pattern, a plain blue dress and 2 cream colored dresses. I noticed some undies, same color as the dresses tucked on the left side.
“You sure know how to shop for women clothing, which is a surprising thing for a man like you.”
“Well, I got some help from my wife,”
I went for yellow dress and yellow undies. I quietly unwrapped myself from the sheet, slipped in the undies and the dress, they fit perfectly.
“Wow, your wife is really smart for her to get my exact measurement from just your description,” I commented.
“Not so miss, you and my wife happened to have the same body shape. Thankfully, she went for shopping yesterday, so I selected these from the bag without her knowledge,” he explained.
“Amazing,” I said as I arrange the bed. I had watched Stella dress my bed so many times. The thought of Stella brought back thoughts of home. I wondered how Mother, Father and my dearest Sister are doing. Probably extremely worried about me.
“Are you done, miss?” Dr. Thompson question jotted me out of my thoughts.
“Yes Doctor,” I whispered.
He turned to face me, gave a little nod before walking towards me. “I would like to examine you right now, if you don’t mind.”
“Go ahead, the medicine mixture sure worked like magic,” I said sitting up.
“Yeah, it is.” He chuckled. “I developed it with the help of the Alpha’s investment. Werewolf bane, not easy to come across but when it comes in contact with any wolf, it has the ability to kill within few minutes. You must be high rank wolf to survive its attack,” he said examining my foot with a strange object.
“Wow!” I exclaimed, totally speechless. That’s amazing, he must be the best doctor in his park.
“Indeed, took years of practice, lab work and research to arrive at a potent antidote, so are you?” he asked checking my pulse. I stared at my feet which the just left only to notice a blue mark on the spot where the wolf bane penetrated into my body.
“Am I what?” I asked confused.
“A wolf of high rank,”
“Alpha,” I whispered, for the first in my life; I wasn’t proud to say I am an Alpha.
The door creaked open and the handsome stranger walked in, our eyes met and I quickly turn my eyes as the image of what did flashed through my eyes. He ignored us and went to sit on the only chair in the room. I wondered what is going through his head.
“What is your name?” Dr. Thompson asked.
“Kaila,” I replied, “Kaila Jacobs.”
“Can you explain in details how you are currently feeling.” He said staring at me.
“I feel fine, the liquid medicine helped a lot to revive my healing ability.” I said proudly.
“Any problem, Dr. Thompson?” I asked concerned.
“I’m afraid Kaila, going back home to your park is not an option right now, I fear that your recovery won’t be as fast as envisioned. The poison spread faster and I couldn’t get to you as fast as supposed,” He said staring me squarely.
“Doctor, am I dying?” I asked a billion thoughts running in my mind. What is going to happen to me now? My family may never get to see me. I should have just stayed in the palace and mourn my heartbreak instead of racing out.
Dr. Thompson chuckled, “Far from that Kaila, you are not dying. You would rather experience some side effects and one of it is; acting out of character,”
“I don’t understand,” I said my voice extremely low.
“You might act or behave like a total different person but don’t worry, it takes a few days to wear off,” he said, “I would advice you stay here until you are fit to go home. I will speak to your guardian to let you spend a few days in this cabin. I will be right back,” he added standing up from the bed.
I watched as he spoke to the stranger in whispers. My eyes lingered on his face as I didn’t want to miss any of his facial expression.
“That’s impossible!!!” he yelled when the Dr. Thompson finished speaking.
