Chapter 4

ALPHA KAEL POV

I burst out of the palace, my heart shattered into a million pieces. The weight of my grief threatened to consume me.

I raced deep into the forest, a part where no ordinary werewolf dares to enter.

The arguments with my mother, the Queen Alpha, echoed in my mind. How can she suggest I replace Natalie? I channeled all the pain and hurt into my speed. My paws pounding against the earth.

My Cabin, situated in the heart of the forest, was the only destination I had in mind.

From the far end, I noticed a wolf running into the forest. All my years of coming out I had never encountered anyone here. Every werewolf in every pack knows the danger of the forest.

Curiosity got hold of me. Who dares fight the odds and comes deep into this part of the forest.

I realized it was a she-wolf. Her fur was mesmerizing blond. Her eyes gleamed with a fierce determination, and her lithe body moved with a fluid grace that belied the danger surrounding us.

Her scent wafted toward me, a mix of wildflowers and the forest's earthy undertones. It was unfamiliar, yet intriguing. My instincts stirred, and I felt an inexplicable pull toward this mysterious she-wolf

She kept running, I followed from a distance. Then I noticed her slowed down, her pace dropped.

As I drew closer, her blonde fur glistened in the fading light.

'What would be wrong?' I wondered.

Her body fell to the ground before I could reach her. I rushed forward to check what happened.

A silver line caught my eyes, wolfsbane.

I growled my anger and concern mingling as I examined the wolf bane's effects. The poisonous plant's silver-tipped leaves gleamed in the fading light, a deadly trap for any werewolf.

The blonde werewolf's body trembled, her breathing shallow.

I recognized the symptoms - wolf bane's paralyzing venom spreading through her system.

No time, the Wolf bane is spreading real fast, her healing ability already weakened.

I shifted back to my human form, I picked her up, and she immediately shifted to her human form. I stare at her beautiful shape, the feel of her skin touching mine; brought forth feelings I haven't felt in a very long time. Feelings I thought died with my mate.

Her slow whimpers brought me back to my sub consciousness. She was slowly dying.

I raced towards the cabin at great speed. For the first time in a long time, I'm glad I had a cabin in the woods.

The glass seems to round the entire cabin. It needs clearing. I thrust my hand into the door knob. It creaked open.

I observed that the inside is clean; I laid her down on the bed.

Covered her body with the only available blanket.

I picked up a robe and wrapped round my body

Her breath seems to be slipping away.

'Who do I call to help?'

Doctor Thompson, the pack best doctor, a specialist in the field of medicine. The only one who knows the location of my cabin. I had given him a protection that could grant him access into the forest without any hitch.

"Doctor, I need you in my cabin, right now." I ordered through my mind link.

"Yes Alpha,"

"Doctor, it's very important, it's a code red, Wolfsbane." I said anxiously pacing round the room.

"I will be there now," He said.

I paced around the room, she can't die.

Why am I even concerned?

I don't even know her.

Drawn to her, I stare at her face.

She looks delicate yet strong like Natalie. Her pale face did nothing to hide her beauty.

I gently traced her eyebrows perfectly carved; I look forward to seeing how her eyes look. Her nose is small and delicate, with a slight upturn at the tip. Her lips though pale were inviting.

I thought of her slender yet with an athletic build, curvy. I remembered the feel of her breast on my body.

A knock jotted me out of my thoughts.

Doctor Thompson.

I stood up and went to the door.

"Your highness," He bowed slightly.

"Doctor," I acknowledge.

He rushed to the bed and started examining her.

"The poison has spread but thankfully not beyond repairs," He said administering a liquid substance to her mouth.

"The antidote," He explained, "she is a strong wolf, an Alpha breed is my guess. So she will be out for about a day or two."

"Thank you doctor," I said.

"Have this," He gave me a mixture.

"Immediately, she wakes up, add water and let her take it," he said "I will be here tomorrow to check her,"

"Doctor, this must be kept a secret." I ordered

"My mouth is sealed, Alpha." He said.
