Chapter 9

Queen Alpha POV* It's been three days since Kael left the palace. I stood pacing around my room. "Where the hell is he?" I asked aloud. He has never stayed out of the palace for this long. Each time he storms out, he spends the night out and comes back the next day. Or maybe he has a woman. Ramon! He should know where Kael is. "Call Ramon," I said to one of the Omegas with red hair, assigned as my maid. She bowed deeply and walked out of the room. "Get me a glass of wine," I ordered the other black-haired Omega. I never cared about their names; they weren't worthy of being known by me. The red-haired Omega walked in and bowed. "He is on his way, Your Highness," she said. I sat down on one of the couches in my living room area, attached to my bedroom. The black-haired Omega served my wine. I picked up the glass, raising it to my lips. My maid replayed the argument between Kael and me before he rushed out of the palace. Luna Natalie, why can't she just stay dead? I cast my mind back to a year ago. *One year ago* I paced around the room, wondering what could be happening, what could be delaying them. According to the estimate, it would take less than three hours to complete the job, but it's been over five hours. My eyes glanced at the wall clock made of pure gold, sitting beautifully on the wall. 12:34 stared back at me. Exactly six hours and 34 minutes had passed. I walked towards the table where my men, Gammas and Beta from the king's council, sat and took the alcoholic wine on the table, gulping it down. They stared at me; I could feel the fear in their eyes. Exactly what I wanted: to be feared, revered, and honored. Anyone who tries to get in my way would be swiftly taken down like that stupid b***h. And why the heck is there no situational report on that b***h? "Argg!" I screamed, throwing the bottle at the wall. The sound of the bottle breaking did nothing to soothe the feeling of unease and hatred burning in my heart. "Clean it up," I barked at the squealing Omega, one of whom had the nerve to bring tears to her eyes. Newcomers. "Hey, wipe that off your face; I hate weakness," I said. Sensing I needed a cigarette, one of the men lit one up for me. I puffed out the smoke, watching as they got to work, shaking. The fear emitting from them would have been a source of joy, but right now, it's as annoying as hell. "Clean up fast!" I screamed, settling down on my special reserve cushion, which they referred to as my throne. Of course, it's my throne; I rule from here. "You have a call," my PA whispered to me. Finally, a twirl of hope ran through my stomach, some success at last. "Loudspeaker," I ordered coldly. "Can you believe it?" Kael's voice filled the room. "We started fighting at first; well, they saw they stood no chance against us, they surrendered. Brimstone Park surrendered. Though we lost a few men, we are yet to take statistics on how many, but I'm certain it ain't much. I'm thinking we should send some sort of compensation to the Gemma's family who lost any of their family members during the war." "Good," I muttered. "You're not saying anything," a surge of concern cut across his voice. I know he loves me and has deep concern for me. "It's not a good time, Kael." I managed to keep my voice at par, so he wouldn't hear the anger boiling inside me. "Are you okay?" he asked; I imagined his eyebrows folding in concern. "Not now, Kael," I half-yelled. "Okay, okay, fine. I'll call my wife and share the good news. I'm certain she'll welcome it with great enthusiasm. Bye." His smile was evident from his voice. The call ended with a beep. I sighed deeply, and then realization dawned on me. "He's going to call his wife," I said. The entire room burst into a feast of laughter; I joined in. Kael is going to call his wife, that b***h. "Kael is going to call his wife!" I screamed loudly; the entire room fell silent. I picked the goblet filled with wine sitting in front of my PA and threw it at Beta Fred, who recommended the men I hired to take down that b***h, who thinks she can bewitch my Kael. "They've never disappointed a client," he muttered. "Louder, Beta," I yelled; I'm certain my eyes will be blood shot right now. "I picked them because they are competent and they've never disappointed a client before; they've worked for various prominent people before, Your Highness," Beta Fred said boldly. I don't keep cowards around me. "But they've lost now," I cowered over him, "their first loss happened to me." I threw the flower vase at the wall beside where the Omegas were standing. One gave a sheer cry. "I never lose; I have never lost; I will not..." A ringtone interrupted me. I turned swiftly to face whoever dared to leave their phone on. "They're calling," the offender whispered. "Then pick up the freaking call," I yelled. The room fell silent as we watched him swipe the green button. "Took you long enough," the deep voice capable of igniting fear in its hearers' hearts blasted through the speaker. "Apologies, Your Highness, but the delay wasn't from my men but was caused by the victim herself," he continued. "Situational report from the beginning," I commanded. "According to the original plan," another voice started, "we supposed to corner her during the war and waste her, so it would seem she was killed by the enemy." He paused to take a deep breath. "So, go on," I said, my patience wearing out. "We met up to plan; thankfully, we got an update that she had disguised and secretly left the palace. We got the information when all preparations had been put in place. We had to meet for a change of plan, hence the delay, Your Highness," I could sense his reverence. "f**k," I screamed out. That b***h is still alive. I folded my fist, badly wanting to punch someone. "If I may, Your Highness," the leader's voice sounded cautiously. "Go ahead," I fumed. "Continue the report," the leader ordered the reporter. "We met up to plan; thankfully, we got an update that she had disguised herself as a male soldier. We got the details and got to work immediately," he continued. "We cornered her and pretended to be soldiers; gullible as she is, she believed and let us accompany her. Thankfully, she doesn't have any idea of the exact field where the battle was taking place. So, it was easy to lead her astray." I laughed out loud; the entire room forced to join me. There's a rule: each time I laugh, they must laugh. "We executed the act and sneakily took her body to the battlefield, fortunately, there were separating the enemy's soldiers from our soldiers. Again, we pretended to be soldiers and added Luna's body to the corpses on the floor," he finalized. "So, Your Highness, the operation was successful; we await the balance," the leader's voice came up. "Good, you'll get it," I smiled, ending the call. "The b***h is dead!" I screamed. "Prepare the banquet." The joy in my heart bubbled. _Present day_ My grip on the glass was so strong that if the glass wasn't strong enough, my hand would have been dripping with blood from the injuries it would have caused. "Natalie, even in death, you're still a thorn in my flesh," I groaned. I remembered Lord Malak's instructions to get Kael married to Luna, who would be on our side. "Ramon is here," the red-haired Omega said to me. "Let him in," I ordered.
