Immediately I go through the door to the tunnel, I nod for Alistair to close it. Her face is worry stricken but there isn't much I can do to ease her fear. This can go sideways so easily where none of us gets back. That's where I don't want it to get. I know the risks of playing with a supernatural soul feeder but I can't just stand back and watch as we lose the kids.
This school is a safe haven. It has been for years and it helped me grow into the person I am now. My parents started it for my family the moment they realized what we were. They made sure I was protected and later extended it to other supernaturals all over the world. The least I can do is carry on their legacy and extend the same kind of safety I felt growing up here.
