Shift And Mate

Leo POV:

It was really nice to hang out with Ares all day today. He keeps going to Lia's room as if there is a homing beacon calling him there. I find it amazing that my little sister couldn't have asked for a better mate. Thalia should be home in the next hour or so and I can't wait to introduce her to Ares. Suddenly, I got a mindlink from dad.

"Leo, where are you and Ares? We need you in the meadow right now! Thalia had a problem at work in which she was fired and attacked by a hunter. She is about to shift for the first time. Hurry!"

"Coming right now dad. We aren't far from there. We should be there in like 2 minutes."

I looked over at Ares and told him to follow me right now. I started running towards the meadow as fast as I could.

When we showed up, there was mom and dad on either side of Thalia, and she was screaming about how much it hurt. Suddenly, her screaming stops and she looks straight at Ares. I stepped away from him because I knew that she was about to tackle him. She will be ok now.

Ares POV:

I could hear her screams before we even entered the meadow. Since it was so late in her life that she was shifting, the pain for her was unimaginable. My heart was breaking from the pain that could be heard in her screams. Monger was whimpering at me to go to mate and to help her. I noticed all of a sudden that it was so quiet and that Leo was stepping away from me. I looked up to see my mate running towards me and jumping into my arms. I caught her right away and held her close to me. She was sobbing into my shirt as I held her.

"Well, hello there, mate," I said softly as I looked down at her face, "I see it is finally time for you to shift for the first time. How about I go with you to the middle of the meadow and I could help you through this?" She nodded at me and I led her over to the middle of the meadow. I took my shirt off and stood there next to her talking softly to her like I was talking to a wounded animal.

"OK, little one, I will keep my shirt intact because you will need it after you shift. Keep your clothes on for this shift ok. It will make you feel more comfortable instead of being naked in front of your family. Ok sweetie, take a deep breath and don't fight it. Just let your wolf take over. She knows what she is doing, and she will keep you safe. What is the name of your wolf?"

"Her name is Sapphire. She is so beautiful. She is midnight blue with hot pink spots on her rump. OK, give me just a second. I think we are ready," she said as she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Soon we all hear the sound of the first bones started to break. Besides a whimper here and there, she did so well all on her own. After about 5 minutes, standing before us was the most beautiful she-wolf that I have ever seen in my life. Sapphire stood there, and she was as tall as my wolf Monger was. She was a midnight blue wolf and on her rump was a hot pink stain that looked like a heart in a crescent moon. Her eyes were hot pink as well. I slowly reached out to touch her. Both of us were not ready for how intense the sparks were going to be. As I ran my hand through her soft fur, she started nuzzling my leg like she was asking me to shift too. I smiled and nodded to her. I started taking off my pants, and she stood there watching me with so much love in her eyes. As I stood there in just my underwear, I called Monger forward and felt the first bone start to break. Within seconds, I stood in front of my mate and her family in wolf form.

Thalia POV:

The pain was more than I thought it was going to be. The entire time that Rory was driving us home, I was trying to keep from screaming out in pain. My bones and muscles were burning like I had been doused with gas and set on fire. When we reached the meadow, mom and dad were already there waiting for us, and I was so happy to see them. Dad pulled my door open and grabbed me out and carried me to the middle of the meadow. I could sense other members of the pack all surrounding us, but at that moment I didn't care. All I wanted was for the pain to stop. I was screaming so much that I was sure that I was going to lose my voice. I could feel Sapphira calling to me and asking to be let out. I started to ask dad what I should do when a smell made me stop. It took over all of my senses and had Sapphira calming down. I found myself looking around for where the smell of summer rain and hot chocolate was coming from. It was then that Leo came walking up with a handsome man who looked to be the same age as him. His black hair almost looked blue, and it was the perfect length for me to hold onto and pull. He was a god among men, and he was all for me. I noticed that Leo quickly moved away from him and I ran right up to him and leapt straight into his arms. He caught me with ease and held me close, letting me cry for a bit. I didn't want to ever leave his arms because I felt so safe in them. He looked down at me softly and asked if he could help me with my shift and I quickly agreed. We walked back over to the middle of the meadow. When he took his shirt off, I about passed out. All those muscles and they were mine to touch later. As he walked me through the shift, I noticed that the pain was much less than it was before. I looked down and saw that I had successfully changed into Sapphira. When we looked up, everything was so much clearer. Even my mate looked even better while I was in wolf form. Ares reached out and started petting my head and the sparks that were going on were intense. I found myself nudging him to shift with me because I wanted to see his wolf. Nodding, he stripped down and started to shift. In less than 2 minutes he had shifted and standing before me was a black wolf with a white mark that looked like a lightning bolt going across his side. Ares's wolf was beautiful. I didn't even know his name.

I walked up to him and started rubbing my head over him. I noticed that we were both the same size when we were in wolf form. I found comfort right under his chin and stayed snuggled there.

Johnathan POV:

My daughter's wolf was beautiful. Sapphira was a midnight blue with a pink mark of a heart within a crescent moon. She was as tall as the prince's wolf Monger. I knew that my child was meant for great things and I knew that Ares would love her no matter what. After letting her cuddle with her mate for a bit, I nodded to all the pack members that were there and started shifting. We all went on a run and then went back to the meadow. Shifting back seemed to be easier for Thalia, and we were all happy to see her happy with Ares.

"Thalia, darling, I think we all need to head back to my office. I think we all need to talk about what happened today and set everything in motion for you to go with your mate," I said as I came back after changing. She nodded and looked at Ares. Looking back at me, she softly stated, "Yes daddy. I also think that it is time that I tell you guys about my past." She grabbed Ares's hand and started walking to the pack house. We all followed knowing that this story was going to be hard to listen to.
