Liam
A strong whiff of frangipani teased his senses, and he forgot everything. I should go after Monike, try to stop her. Maybe apologise.
His wolf lunged forward, trying to take control. ‘You are an i***t! Our mate is here! I can smell her. Forget the horny b*tch and let's go to the library.’
Like a tug of war, Liam struggled but finally gained his control back. ‘No, this isn’t right! It isn’t Monike’s fault. She believes that I love her and she was here because of the arrangement between me and Co Ma.
Liam’s wolf snorted. ‘That’s none of your concern if she can’t see that you don’t love her! You have never said that you do. Now get the hell inside the library. I can smell her… she is here…’ And he howled as if that could be heard by anyone other than Liam.
It managed to give Liam a headache.
Liam turned towards his library.
He would manage Monike later. ‘Good call,’ his wolf sniggered.
‘Go F*ck yourself!’ Liam sneered as he stepped into the bliss of his library, which indeed smelled like Ira. He looked around, trying to find the source of the alluring scent, but found nothing.
‘You are an id*ot! Let me control. I can track her scent better than you. Your brain is corrupted by Monike while my heart is purely our mate’s.’ He cooed like a love struck puppy.
Liam huffed in frustration and dropped his cut offs. He did not want to rip them when he knew what was coming next.
In the past few days, he had gained better control over his wolf, who actually had turned out to be a Lycan. He still couldn’t believe that his pain in the ass wolf was a Lycan. They were supposed to be stronger and smarter than the regular wolves.
Apparently, Ira’s disappearance had triggered his wolf into realising his full potential.
Slowly retreating back into the depths of his mind, he let the beast come forth, saying, ‘let’s do it together!’
As the Lycan gained control, his voice rang steady and clear in Liam’s head. ‘Sure,’ The beast took over converting Liam into a huge furry bipedal monster.
It was strange how easily his pack of Rogues had accepted his new identity. It was as if they had always known that he was special.
He started looking for Ira in every nook and cranny. In case she had appeared in some other part of the house.
He hadn’t actually seen her in the library. His assumptions were based on her scent only.
After checking all his rooms, he went over to Ira’s room.
She wasn’t here. He and his wolf, both knew it.
There was a very mild lingering scent of her emanating from her wardrobe and her bed. A ghost of what it would have been if she was here. They both missed her.
He remembered the way her delicate body felt under his when he pleasured her the other morning. Every moan of hers, every shudder of hers was so exciting.
And the way she melted! Her face looked so angelic.
They groaned in frustration and moved towards the library again.
This had become his routine. If he missed Ira, he headed to the library. It just felt more comfortable to be around the books.
He sat on the couch, and suddenly his wolf exclaimed. ‘The book! Pick up that f*cking book and smell it!’
Liam thought that his wolf was losing his mind, but he picked up the book anyway. It was the best way to pacify the beast or he would make Liam’s life hell. He smelled it and bingo!
That's where Ira’s scent was the strongest.
She was here! In person or the scent couldn’t have been this strong.
What does this mean? Was she here with the book and disappeared when we came in looking for her? Or is she still around but I can’t see her? His thoughts ran wild and listening to his wolf’s thoughts, he knew that this time they were on the same page.
As he made his decision, his wolf gradually receded, giving him the entire control.
He mind linked Ben, asking him to come over.
While waiting he picked up the cut offs from the library floor, put them on and sat down at his desk with the book.
This was going to be his favourite book from now on.

Ben and Bella arrived within moments of the mind link and waited for Liam to meet them in his living room. By the time Liam came out, Ben had poured himself a whiskey and Bella was sipping on a beer.
They were the only two people who were allowed to touch his things when he wasn’t around.
“Monike looked pissed!” Ben chuckled as he lifted his tumbler with the golden brown whiskey. “Did you give her the boot?”
“Ignore her. What did you want to say?” Liam walked towards the bar to pour himself a drink. He had thrown on a T-shirt to cover his torso. Pouring a whiskey for himself he sat on the bar stool next to Ben while Bella perched herself on the couch facing them.
“We have news,” Ben responded.
“Figured out as much! What’s it?” Liam braced himself. Whatever it was, he would have to take the next calls based on this. He wasn’t sure if he was ready to leave Ira and marry Monike, but he couldn’t distance himself from Ira.
Her absence had made him realise how much he needed her.
“Leo has agreed to support Kirra in the vote for the Rogue Land. He has a couple of conditions.” Ben took a sip of the whiskey savouring it.
Liam knew he was testing Liam’s patience. At other times it would have been easy to let Ben take his time but right now Liam was rattled and frustrated. “Oh for f*cks sake! Would you just tell me?”
“Chill boss! It’s great. He wants Maggie to help them set up a psychiatric unit with a rehab unit at the Silver Moon territory. And he wants the exclusive rights to architecture, construction and designing of structures on the Rogue Land.” He drained the rest of the whiskey and proceeded to pour more.
Liam thought it over, continuing to sip his drink while Bella interrupted. “Exclusive rights would mean paying huge sums of money for construction. Is it really worth it? They are known to be expensive.”
She let the words sink in and waited for Liam to respond. Which was good because Liam was calculating. He hadn’t become a self made King by taking hasty decisions.
“They are expensive but they are the best. I wouldn’t mind an exclusive contract if the terms and conditions in the agreement guarantee us the best. I would love to let Maggie go over. She could pick up a few ideas for our trauma unit.” Liam started rolling his glass in his hand.
With three out of the five members of the alliance on his side, he was already leading. He was also confident about Alpha Scott from the Blue Moon pack. The young guy was clear in his ideas, non judgemental and from his previous interaction with Scott, Liam knew that Scott would easily side with him.
His deal was done.
Now he needed to meet Kirra and James and if possible their batty nana Sarena.
