Silent Musings

Ira Love is fire. But whether it is going to warm your hearth or burn down your house, you can never tell!" Joan Crawford After Bella arrived in the morning and declared that she had found a mate, Ira wanted to know every dirty detail. Unfortunately, Bella didn’t have any. She wasn’t even sure of the name of the wolf she had fallen for, or for that matter the Moon Goddess had made her fall for. He was a tall well built guy with an exceptional set of abs who loved hanging around Jade. Ira rolled her eyes. Both Lucas and Jono fit the description. Bella wasn’t sure if her mate was the werewolf or the vamp. How could she be? When she had realised the bond she was still under the witch’s spell. She had known about her mate only after the witch’s spell had broken but that time she had collapsed too. By the time she woke up, the guy was nowhere to be seen and Ira stood next to her, teary eyed. She couldn’t ignore Ira’s discomfort and she had been too exhausted to pursue anyone or anything. "It took me a while to realise what my feelings meant. The witch sure did a number on us!" Bella sighed. "But why you?" Ira thought around. "I mean, I can understand her spell on Liam and Scarlet! But why you? Why did she want to control you or keep you away from your mate?" "Beats me! Only the witch can answer, I guess." Bella shrugged. She was still sitting at the dining table while Ira had gotten up to clear the plates. "I need to meet him though! I have to let him know about our bond. My wolf has been on a f**k*ing high, coaxing me to meet him!" "Didn't he realise that you are his mate?" Ira quipped while rinsing the soap of the plates. "I dunno! He must have not noticed. There was a lot going on at that time. Jade was half dead and wolves were dropping left, right and centre." A battle hadn't stopped Liam from coming for Ira, even when he was under a spell and even when he was bound to another woman! Ira did not feel that Bella's reason was acceptable. Her own frustration with Liam and Bella's mate's behaviour just made her irritable and angry. "Could be!" Ira exclaimed. She did not have the heart to tell Bella what she really thought. "Let's get working. I need to finish this work for Liam asap! The sooner the better." Bella and she went into the library using her key card. The first couple of hours Ira just roamed around the library. Sometimes pulling a book out, perusing and keeping it back in its place. From experience, Bella knew that her best friend was in a silent conversation with books. This was her own time and no one could disturb her. Bella watched her as she stacked up a few books on the office table. She handed Bella a book about interdependency amongst mysterious beings and sat down to read her own find. Once Bella left for lunch, Ira continued with her research. Bella had brought bacon and eggs in the morning. The brekkie was too heavy for Ira as she had wolfed down most of it, thanks to her hunger after skipping dinner the previous night. So she chose to continue her work. She was in her comfort zone in the library with the books and Bella was more of a girl of action. Bels read what she needed to read but wasn't a bookworm like Ira. It wasn't a surprise that Bella excused herself after a couple of hours. Bella wasn't going to return tonight. She had given general directions to the pack dining hall. But Ira did not want to go amongst so many people. In this case a specific werewolf. She continued reading and fell asleep on the couch in the library when her tired eyes couldn't focus on the words in front of her. The interesting brown washed leather couch was something that Ira hadn't expected. But she guessed James must have thought of it. He knew how she could get lost in the world of books. *****
