Liam
When Ira opened the door in her short grey satin kimono robe tied loosely together at her thin waist, he could not think anymore.
His fingers itched to open the flimsy belt and find out what she was wearing underneath!
He had this irrepressible desire to run his hand through his hair but stopped himself. It had taken some time for him to get ready and look decent for the investor meeting.
It wouldn’t help if he reached their office looking like an untamed wolf that he was.
If only Ira had woken up earlier he wouldn’t have felt this obsessive need to check on her. The last he had seen her was in the evening when she had spotted him and Monike in each other’s arms.
Her expressions of pain were heartbreaking.
His wolf had given him a hard night as he had tossed and turned in bed, torn between wanting to go over to Ira and holding himself back. He was sure he would lose control once he was with her.
He still remembered their kiss from the battle. It had been such a blissful experience. Nothing in this world could come close to what he felt when she sucked on his tongue!
His coc*k twitched at the memory and tried to divert his thoughts.
Then again, no diversion worked as he thought about waves of chocolate brown hair that fell on her shoulders. The unruly morning hair had enticed him to run his fingers through them and he had controlled the urge.
It didn’t help that she was constantly eye f*****g him, the whole time he was there. He had to use every ounce of control to leave her room without f*****g her against the god*damn wall.
He sighed sitting next to Ben in their Hummer H3 as Ben drove. Bella had arranged this meeting to pitch their growing oyster and seaweed farming business and garner more investments.
He wanted to diversify and expand. He had his eye on oil and gas mining but that needed substantial funds.
He had come a long way from being a hunted Rogue living with his mother to growing his business and giving employment to hundreds of rogues.
It's funny how his mother had turned out to be a villain. She wasn't even his mother!
He rolled his eyes and tried to concentrate on the impending meeting.
Ben drove in silence.
That was one great thing about his best friend who was also his Beta. He knew when to allow Liam enough space to brood and when to discuss topics important to them.
“Boss, are you going to be flustered every time you meet her?” Ben broke the silence. A hint of a smirk on his lips irritated Liam as he knew where the conversation was heading.
“Who are you talking about?” Liam feigned ignorance.
“I know you! Why did you get her here if it was going to be so difficult for you?”
“Told you! I need to know about my family. She can find it!” Liam looked out of the window and scowled. He did not like this conversation.
“Is that why our IT team is digging dirt on two humans named Jack and Alex?” Ben snorted.
Liam was quiet. It was a top secret directive from him but obviously, it wouldn’t be hidden from his Beta.
“Who are these two guys and why are we running a check on them?” Ben looked at Liam still continuing to drive. Werewolf senses helped them respond quickly so taking their eyes off the road for a bit did not really bother him.
“That’s none of your business.” Again Liam’s hand itched to run through his hair but he stopped himself.
“It is my business. We could ask the IT team to look into your lineage too. We might find something in the human files. And I need to know why we are wasting time and resources on someone from Ira’s past! She is not even needed to get info on your parents!”
Liam’s head jerked at the mention of Ira’s name. “You know about them?”
“Not entirely. I kind of asked Bella about it after realising what you are up to. She knows a little. But Ira doesn’t talk much about that incident. She likes to think about the future, not the past!” Ben smiled.
Liam looked ahead at the empty stretch of the road, reflecting on what Ben had just mentioned. If she thought only about the future, why did she still have nightmares about these two guys? Why did James say that she was unsafe? No! There is something there. I need to know what it is.
“So are you planning to claim her?” Ben spoke swiftly. As if he wanted to release a burden.
Liam looked at his friend. He knew Ben cared for Ira. He did not know how he was supposed to answer his question.
“You know I can’t! I have to let Cohen know in a couple of weeks time. He wants to announce the engagement as soon as possible”. Liam murmured not betraying any emotion, but his wolf was reeling under the weight of his decision.
“Why do you need to do it anyway? You are a self made man, I mean a self made wolf. Why would you want to give away your freedom to a human? She is not even your mate. Also, she is obnoxious and snobbish. I don’t think any of your wolves like her.” Ben added.
He was right. Liam was aware his wolves weren’t very fond of Monike. He had ignored that. She was sophisticated and she came with connections that would help their business grow. Co- Ma had agreed to declare more land as a conserved territory. Its paperwork would be handed over to Liam at their wedding. His wolves would have enough space to prosper.
“We have discussed this before,” Liam stated curtly indicating that the topic had to end. He did not want the two wolves at the back to hear their discussion. This was a strategic decision that was classified because of Co- Ma’s interests in werewolf communities and businesses. The man was a scheming bas*tard whose only aim was power and money.
“You don’t have to do this. You owe nothing to the rogues. They are not your pack!” Ben quipped, shrugging nonchalantly.
How would he know how much Liam belonged to the pack? This was his comfort, his home! He had built everything from zero. Helping one wolf at a time and bringing them together.
“Hmm!” Liam left it at that. He really wanted to end this topic now.

By the time their meeting was done and they returned, it was evening already. They had grabbed fish and chips on their way back so Liam wasn't really hungry. He directly headed to his chambers.
The meeting had gone well. He was sure that he would get the deal but he had to wait for a week.
Happy about the day he stepped into his chambers and his wolf suddenly perked up. The delicious fragrance of the tropics tugged at his belly and his steps automatically carried him towards his Library.
On the couch, Ira lay with a book, fast asleep. It was a book on the history of werewolf clans in Australia. Her small dusky frame covered in a white crop top and light blue shorts was in stark contrast to the brown leather couch.
His di*ck twitched seeing how cute she looked with such a huge book lying open on her chest as she peacefully snoozed.
She must have been really tired to have fallen asleep with such an uncomfortable weight on her chest.
His wolf sneered, ‘our weight would be more comfortable than that stupid book. You must take her to bed!’
Liam exhaled. If his wolf was in control, he would claim and mark Ira in no time!
‘YAS!’ His wolf remarked happily and Liam gently closed the door of the library.
For the first time, he felt the need for an ensuite bedroom otherwise he had been more than happy to walk through his library every time he needed to use his bathroom.
He paced in his room thinking of what he was going to do next. A knock at his door made him walk towards the living room. No sooner had he opened the door than Monike waltzed in looking drop dead gorgeous in her black satin gown.
“Since when have you started locking your door?” She purred as she closed the distance between them and ran a well manicured nail down his chest.
He had chucked his jacket while pacing in the bedroom and loosened his tie.
What was he going to do now? He did not want to see Ira’s pained expressions when meeting Monike and if Monike saw Ira she would go ballistic.
She still did not know that he had employed Ira for the job and she obviously did not know that Ira had the key card to come and go in the library as she pleased.
“Monike!” He swallowed. “I have just arrived! Let’s meet at your place. Why don’t you go ahead and set up the room while I freshen up?” He pushed Monike towards the door hurriedly.
She hummed in arousal. “Mmm! That sounds good. I am waiting with a pair of cuffs!” She winked seductively, turned around and left with a prominent swing in her waist.
Liam sighed! ‘This is going to get more and more difficult! What am I going to do now!’
His wolf gagged. 'I don't like her! I like Ira. Let's go to our mate.'
'You didn't mind me f*****g her brains off before Ira arrived here!' Liam scowled at his wolf.
His wolf grumbled. 'I didn't like that either.'
He heard the click of a door handle and peeped into the library to check on Ira.
The book that she was reading was closed and stacked neatly in a corner of the table.
She wasn’t in the room anymore.
He should have been relieved but somehow his wolf felt sad and stressed. His wolf kept coaxing him to check on Ira, but Liam pushed him back and headed to the bathroom.
He needed a long cold shower. The image of Ira's sexy body on the couch was hard to get rid of.
