Liam
Liam walked towards the infirmary dreading his confrontation with Monike. He had communicated very little with his hospital staff after Monike was moved into the infirmary by Ben and Gamma Ron.
As he trudged through the dense flora, his thoughts went over to the previous night.
He had been annoyed with the way Ira’s family behaved with her. They couldn’t see that she was tired! They were completely blind to her health condition. The only thing they cared about was the goddamn book. He was going to get that f*cking thing burnt before Ira misses into its pages again!
They wanted to know more about what happened next rather than getting her rested and back to the pink of her health again. At Least after he objected, Sarena had been smart enough to conjure some food!
Ira's sunken eyes lit up seeing the bowl of warm soupy noodles. He could move the world to see her face light up in that beautiful radiance!
Only after Ira took the first spoonful of her Chicken Soupy Noodles did he have his own meal. Sarena had arranged for quite a bit of food. The soupy looking stuff in the gigantic bowl had turned out to be Vietnamese Pho, and he totally enjoyed it. The thing had the right amount of meat and veggies. Wholesome and delicious food!
Kirra had also joined him at the table to have a quick meal. That evening, she hadn’t been able to grab a bite either, as she was with Sarena the whole time. Looked like the witches were a little careless about their family.
Liam watched from the corner of his eyes as Ira carefully slurped spoons full of the soup. The way her lips pursed when she sucked in those noodles!! He wasn't even feeling any guilt for the sinful thoughts he had seen her on his bed, with tendrils of hair loosened from her messy bun and the scarf thing on her shoulders slipping off her arms giving him a healthy glimpse of her flawless sun kissed skin.
He happened to look at Sarena and his eyebrows shot up, reaching all the way to his hairline. She and James were involved in a staring contest! It looked like a contest to Liam, with none of the two looking away from each other's eyes. Kirra informed him that the witches too could converse in their heads, somewhat like the mind link, but it worked a little differently. So Sarena entering his brain during the date wasn't a one time occurrence.
The thought of him and Ira doing the same excited him. Would Ira change into a Lycan? How powerful would a Lycan witch be? Right now, she was pissed off, and was ignoring him totally. ‘
You made her go through hell!’ His Lycan hissed angrily.
‘Come on! I did not have a choice! See, she is with us now.'’Liam responded as he continued to walk through the difficult terrain.
At other times, he would have let his wolf take over. The run would have allowed him to feel better. The feel of the wind against his muzzle and the soft earth under his paws were soothing. But since the Monike incident, his wolf was being too aggressive. If he harmed Monike, it would be a diplomatic disaster.
‘F*cking yes! If she comes in front of me, I am going to de- throat her. She has given so much pain to my shortie!’ his Lycan roared and Liam rolled his eyes.
He thought about the book that Ira read later after dinner.
It was funny how Ira and Liam were mentioned in that book. He remembered reading about them in the past, but never in his wildest dream had he thought that it was about his mate and him!
He had read the book in his tweens. As far as he remembered, the words remained the same. Ira had created a huge inter-continental portal, propelling the entire ship through it. He was so proud of his mate. Even in her suffering, she had not only managed to come back to the current time; she had also managed to save the wolves.
The book had mentioned that the portal felt like they were squeezed through a very narrow pathway. In his tweens, he had been very curious about that. He wanted to know what moving through a portal felt like.
The ship, with its complete crew, had landed at the farthest end of the Indian ocean only to arrive at a port on the Western coast of Australia. The name of the Port wasn't mentioned, but the name of the Blood Moon clan was and thus the Port would surely have been somewhere near Adelaide.
During those days, the Australian land already had its own clans. They were going to kill the crew. Luckily for Remus’ clan, the Alpha of the Blood Moon Clan found his fated mate in the daughter of another Alpha from the ship's crew.
That changed everything. They helped Remus’ in taking Athena to Hobart. Tasmania had only a single Alpha pack. The Blood Moon clan had felt that they would be more open to sharing the land of the island.
They were far from the truth. The pack gave them a solid fight and Alpha Remus had to unleash his Lycan. After that, things fell into place. Alpha Remus became the Alpha of the Red Moon Clan. His own Alpha’s and the lost Alpha got protection under Remus and continued to prosper in their packs.
Within the next couple of centuries, Alpha Remus had established his kingship, and the Alphas from the entire continent of Australia and Tasmania were his subjects.
Under his leadership, the clan had prospered and grown in fame & wealth. Since the advent of the twentieth century, the King from the Red Moon clan had given autonomy to all the clans so they could manage their own territories.
Slowly and steadily their clan had stepped away from the mainland wolves, detaching themselves from the mainland wolves and living in their own secretive ways. So was he really the heir as Ira claimed? What would he do next? Should he contact Alpha Louis of the Red Moon clan?
The last time when he read the book, why hadn’t he found the name Liam and Ira strange? These were modern names! But the thought that the book was magical had kept him from asking questions. At that age what could anyone expect of him anyway? He did not really know that the names weren’t from those times.
While reading the book in the past, he had liked the word King with Liam so much so that he had taken it up as his second name.
It's funny how time works! He hadn’t told anyone this in the room last night. It felt embarrassing to agree that he had forgotten everything about Ira's and Liam's names from that book.
Maybe later, one day, he might confide in Ira about what a stupid ass he had been.
He walked into the infirmary and was stunned to see the nurses carry Monike on a trolley stretcher toward the Operating Room.
